I thought I would start this tradition once again while we all wait? DS only sat Trinity...

Blush Blush it seems that as we have nothing better to do now and speculation has run its course - talk has turned to 'facials' 'massages' and ahem 'waxing' so not long I suspect before 'shopping' and 'shoes' and 'diets'! of course if this is not the place for that then i'll have to join another forum Grin

Trashpack · 31/01/2013 15:45

Fatal, I'm sorry to hear that a couple of (immature) boys are being silly/unpleasant to your ds. Your ds will take it in his stride...he's got a great Mum on his side. And whatever the outcome, when he's old enough to understand, he'll thank you himself for giving him such a great opportunity.

yummymum, I'm sure we all know lots of people who are "creative" with the truth when it comes to schools!

Somelikeithott · 31/01/2013 17:00

Lol!
Burntout, I'm impressed you know what a Brazilian is ( not sure my DH does, or maybe I underestimate him!)

Yummymum, I've managed to get DH to pay for facial/massage, seeing as I'm the one who has to bare the agony of opening the letters when they arrive.. Like I had to do when the W interview one arrived (when I finally realised what it was, thanks to a poster on here)., with trembling hands I hasten to add. I'm trembling already at the thought.... What am I like? Maybe I should change my facial session to an hypnosis one.

Somelikeithott · 31/01/2013 17:02

DH actually said to me , you have to relax and enjoy it, otherwise he is withdrawing the funds. As if..... But anything to stop me being home and stalking/ pouncing on postie, in our 'quiet neighbourhood'.

NotADragonOfSoup · 31/01/2013 17:05

Next you can start trying to work out what size & thickness of envelope will give you the heads up that it's an offer Wink

Trashpack · 31/01/2013 18:17

soup, I'd just like any kind of envelope!

Would anyone know the answer to my question....when it comes to T & W...have you ever heard of a ds not deemed "suitable" to be interviewed? And if so, does the poor child (and his parents) have to wait until Feb 15th to discover their fate?

I'm over it now, but just disappointed at the lack of communication from W...I expected a little more.

Ladymuck · 31/01/2013 18:25

Yes, I know of boys who were interviewed and didn't receive offers (2 in ds1's former class), as well as some who were waitlisted. I know at least 1 boy who was interviewed at 10+ and didn't get a place, but then did get an offer at 11+ (as well as several who sat at 10+, didn't even get an interview but then got in at 11+).

Obviously MOST boys interviewed do get an offer - the school doesn't waste that much time interviewing those unlikely to make it.

NotADragonOfSoup · 31/01/2013 18:30

If your DS is not going to be interviewed, you should receive a letter well before Feb 15th.

hardboiled · 31/01/2013 18:35

Well done to your DS Marni!
Well, I feel I owe to support your coming out in the open and sharing your experience by doing the same. Wink I had the same exact experience at T. Grin It seems to confirm that that's how it goes if your DC has done well enough for a scholarship in the exams... But I still maintain that it is possible that some DC may get an offer of a scholarship without the parents having been invited into the HM's office and been told so.

Trashpack · 31/01/2013 18:52

Ladymuck, I'm guessing ds falls into the category of "unlikely to make it" as he hasn't been interviewed and it's been 3 weeks since the exam. It's a shame because he's such a lovely boy.

Thanks soup, hopefully I'll hear soon.

But whatever my ds's outcome, I'm not leaving this thread! I'll be following all you guys every step of the way and hoping everyone gets the offers they want.

FatalFlowerGarden · 31/01/2013 19:27

Trashpack, you are a star, don't you dare leave the thread!! Grin

Somelikeithott · 31/01/2013 19:30

Trashpack, I can understand how you feel like you do, but hang in there, it's not over. Still rooting for you, hope your good news comes..... I admire your spirit.

Marni23 · 31/01/2013 19:51

Thanks hardboiled and well done to your DS too. Think you're right that the process won't be the same every time.

Trashpack hang in there. Think it's awful that you've had to wait so long, I don't know how you're doing it. I really hope you get good news soon.

Kylep · 31/01/2013 20:04

Any W and T admin staff/teachers reading this post come on guys u can't leave a parent and child dwelling on the news , communication is important ethier way let families know

Trashpack- I feel for you and ds but it's been said s lot but just hang in there

suz742 · 31/01/2013 20:08

Trashpack that's very generous spirited of you x

I'm off to Rome with the bf for a long weekend tomorrow, so glad to have a distraction and I've promised him no school talk.

I'll say a prayer for us all in the Vatican, that we get the right outcomes for our boys, whatever they may be. A bit unethical to pray for a large bursary I think!

Brownsugar3879 · 31/01/2013 20:18

Hi guys. I'm new here. My DS was interviewed yesterday at Trinity for the 10+. I went on to speak to the head who was lovely but came out thinking maybe I've said too much.
What I'm worried about is we were not told they'll be assessing his comprehension as this was the lowest he'd scored. Maths & VR were higher.
Poor boy came out there shaking and after telling me, he was asked some questions which he completely froze due to nerves, I'm now hoping but not hoping if you know what I mean. We didn't apply for any scholarship at all so we all just got wait and see.
Good thing is, if not this time, he can do it again for 11+.
Are there any parents here whose sons were interviewed for the Comprehension? If yes, what's your opinion?
Also, the piece of work he'd prepared was irreverent as the interviewer didn't really look at it.

hardboiled · 31/01/2013 20:23

No Suz742, go ahead, God is def on the side of bursaries!

Trashpack, if there's no letter, there's no negative news. That's the only certainty right now. Hang in there. Wine And make sure the letter hasn't got lost somehow...I am the paranoid type when it comes to schools...Always asumming my phone wasn't working or the emails have gone to the junk tray! Blush

I have lost track of who is still waiting...brain not working till feb 15th...but the same goes for you all!

OP posts:
Trashpack · 31/01/2013 20:26

No, go for it Suz!! Pray for a gigantic bursary, as much as you want - you're in the right place and God will understand your plight! Have a wonderful weekend away.

Thank you Fatal, hott, Marni, Kylep and sux, you're all too kind! Seriously, I'm not bothered by it all now...and I truly promise to stop harping on about it!!

Brownsugar3879 · 31/01/2013 20:30

Oh, I typo error. The word there was irrelevant!!! Stress stress stress!!! Lol

burntoutdad · 31/01/2013 20:32

Trashpack - I don't know for sure but im assuming that those who are not to be interviewed would have known by now. So no news is good news as someone here said earlier. Hope some good news arrives soon!

Kylep · 31/01/2013 20:41

Brownsugar- did the head interview both you and ds or you went in to see him in relation to comprehension I'm sorry but not sure as my ds didn't get asked any questions we were told he did good on 2 tests and excellent on one we came out feeling positive but so have many parents i suppose they have too !!! so it's just a waiting game

burntoutdad · 31/01/2013 20:41

Ladymuck, I know of boys who were interviewed and didn't receive offers
Do you know if these boys have the same kind of 'positive' vibe feedback in the interview that some of us have had here?

Brownsugar3879 · 31/01/2013 20:46

I just went in to see the head as I just wanted to find out more about school & a chance to see what he's like really.
DS went with someone else where he was quizzed about some comprehension questions which obviously we were not aware of.
I'm nervous....

Trashpack · 31/01/2013 20:46

Thanks hard, I am hanging in there with my good friend Sauvignon Blanc! Wine

I might email tomorrow and make sure a letter hasn't been lost.

Welcome to the thread brownsugar, my ds did W exam but lots of posters here have had interviews for T. Good luck!

Brownsugar3879 · 31/01/2013 20:50

Trashpack, thanks..
It's nerve racking this....
