Oh God, ds came home and said both Politics and Biology were hard. He's been working his socks off for weeks, Idon't know what goes wrong in the exam room Sad

MABS · 21/05/2012 17:47

oh no mumblechum :(

Exams can be hard even if you have prepared well. My year 12s did OCR biology this afternoon. They found it tough because the questions were quite skewed to their least favourite part of the spec. It makes them nervous when that happens. I think they'll be fine. Well, most of them. Some of them have done bugged all revision. They will not be fine...

JustGettingByMum · 21/05/2012 18:03

mumblechum ouch! hopefully it's not as bad as he fears.

DS thought he had done badly in one of Jan exams, and actually it was just a question towards the end, but as it was the last thing he had done, its what stuck in his memory. When the results came out, he was pleasantly surprised.

Hoping the next exam "feels" better x

jazzchickens · 21/05/2012 18:15

Hi everyone. Can I join in for a bit of moral support?

DS2 was in tears today as his (written) drama exam did not go very well. Although he often gets 100% for course work, he really struggles with being concise in exams and often runs out of time.

He sailed through his GCSEs but has had a difficult time at college Sad

He has worked so hard - my heart goes out to him.

FrankWippery · 21/05/2012 18:24

Hi all. Mumblechum and Jazz, sorry your two have had not such great days. If it's any consolation DD1 thought she had really screwed up her Geography AS last year, but she actually did brilliantly in it.

Good luck, also, to the drivers...Both my girls are now driving. DD1 passed just after her ASes last year and DD2 passed hers in January.

Milliways · 21/05/2012 19:54

JustGettingByMum - DS also has his last exam (Further Maths) that day!

He has had today revising, History tomorrow, Chemistry Wed & 2 Maths Papers Thursday, then a long break until last one on Friday 1st June.

Thanks MABS - yours too.

PS Lovely to see you around, DS1 & 2 still talk fondly of their WE at BA x

cinnamonnut · 22/05/2012 09:45

Did politics yesterday and thought it went reasonably well at the time. Now thinking about what I actually wrote and how shit some of my arguments were :(

MABS · 22/05/2012 12:02

you are probably over thinking it cinnamon, don't worry. Nice to see you too JGB, dd wouldn't bother with w/exp :(

Yesterdays OCR biology was a weird paper, apparently.

Mine has Chem tomorrow, then 4 A2's, 3 new and one retake in June.

Jins · 22/05/2012 12:31

DS is having a horrible day today. A timetable clash was noticed at short notice so he's in isolation from 10.30 until 13.15 :(

JustGettingByMum · 22/05/2012 13:11

Most of DS school finished at 1pm as the olympic torch goes through the town later this afternoon. Unfortunately because he has an exam he will miss it all.

DD brought home at 12 to watch the torch and doesnt want to go! I think I will have to try and watch it on the bbc webcam by myself Grin

mumblechum1 · 22/05/2012 16:52

DS had History today and said it went well. Thank God, all the others seem to have gone pear shaped to some degree or other.

Milliways · 22/05/2012 18:31

History was ok for my DS too, but he is NOT looking forward to the big Chemistry paper tomorrow!

FrankWippery · 22/05/2012 18:43

History here today too. She was very happy with it. Even happier with the fact that she felt she had not done enough revision on Kennedy and there was little in the paper about Kennedy Grin.

Just Geography left now, on Thursday afternoon. Good luck to those with Chem tomorrow. Well, good luck to all those with exams tomorrow!

JustGettingByMum · 22/05/2012 19:42

Last minute Chem revision happening here, DS wants to drop it next year, but knows he will need a good grade as its a popular choice for engineers to take to A2.

schoolchauffeur · 22/05/2012 19:52

Last minute Chem revision here too- she finds this paper really hard for some reason. She is hoping she did pretty well in the paper last week. Sudden rush of maths confidence for Thursday so that is good. Not worried about French on Friday. Just taken her back to school ( she is a boarder) so out of my hands now until Friday afternoon when she can come home and have a nice weekend off.
Hope everyone has had a good day and good luck to everyone for tomorrow- epecially Chemists!

mumblechum1 · 22/05/2012 20:42

DS has Chem tomorrow but isn't revising for it at all as he knows he's dropping it. Probably a high risk strategy, but his view is that he needed to concentrate on the main three. He's out doing a 6 mile march this evening (in the Territorial Army), as all other exams finished now. Smile

cinnamonnut · 22/05/2012 22:24

Safe to say I'm cacking myself for tomorrow's chem2, will be difficult if last week's chem1 was anything to go by :(
