Scottish Elections who do you think will take the majority of Seats?

Fundays12 · 12/04/2026 11:15

As a Scot I genuinely have no idea who to vote for.

I dont trust the SNP and find John Swinney completely incompetent. I wouldnt trust him to run my household budget let alone the countries so he is out for me. I cant stand labour, the tories well are not my cup of tea, lib dems and green would never get my vote.

However i dont seem to be alone in having no idea who to vote for which leaves me wondering who will take the majority of seats across Scotland. What do others think will happen?

You might be in for a surprise. Pollsters predicted 25 SNP seats at the last Westminster Election. They ended up with 9. Plenty of shy Reform voters lurking... it’s going to be interesting. Popcorn at the ready on Fri.

The last general election was an outlier imo. However, I think reform will beat Labour and maybe the Tories.

Agreed. I won’t be voting Reform but I’d bet there will be a lot more people who will be who won’t be open about it.

Reform not for me either.
I'll be voting Tory to 1) hopefully keep the SNP out in my constituency and 2) because of their stance on women’s rights and single-sex spaces.

I’ll be 1) Labour as it’s between Labour and SNP in my area and the Labour guy seems decent and 2) I might have to vote Tory, for the same stance on women’s rights and single sex spaces and they seem quite sane on the other issues that I’m bothered about. Wild in 2026 but here we are.

Probably the same.

ScoStud · 03/05/2026 21:21

I’m voting Ash Regan on the peach ballot paper. Still undecided this time about constituency vote.

I'm minded of the referendum, where there was a 'silent majority' in favour of 'no'. We will find out on Friday if there are also a silent Reform (or Tory) voters.

I'll be voting 1, Labour 2, Tory

I don't particularly like Labour atm but my MSP is good and the only other party with a chance is SNP which I don't want.

Some idiot with a loudhailer was driving a car around today telling us to vote for independence.

Some guy who lives a few houses down from us did that during the referendum (including the actual day of the vote). He's been very quiet during this election though, there aren't even any posters up at his house.

poodlemum01 · 05/05/2026 06:38

Yes my neighbours have gone from SNP / Yes posters all over their windows to nothing at all. Obviously that doesn't mean they won't vote that way.
I will never forget how intimidating and divisive that period was.

Igneococcus · 05/05/2026 09:17

You'd barely know there is an election on here. There are some SNP logos up on lampposts and during the last few days the LibDems have stuck small posters with the name of their candidate below some of them.
In the village next to ours there is a massive blue and white banner saying "[Name of village] for Independence" in someone's garden, but that's about it.

GenieGenealogy · 05/05/2026 09:18

I am seeing a lot fewer posters/signs of any persuasion round here. There is someone who lives on a junction near busy traffic lights who always has a Lib Dem sign in their garden and does now, but haven't seen any others. General apathy?

Helpmaboa · 05/05/2026 09:28

I agree about a lot fewer posters etc

looked up some candidates at the weekend dear god 🙈 Especially the Greens, weirdo after weirdo with no online presence to really check them out

Nimonion · 05/05/2026 12:26

There are Green posters on display in the leafier streets near us. If I was a Green voter I certainly wouldn’t be advertising the fact!

Looking at the Independent candidates on the list where I am in Edinburgh region I will probably change from Tory list to independent. Ash Regan is top of the list and second is Jeremy Balfour who has been a strong voice for disability rights as well as a sensible all rounder in the last government where he was a Tory until he left to sit as an independent, sick of the politicking.

Sliverfish · 05/05/2026 13:51

Greens = right side of history etc. I imagine a lot of their supporters still believe that.

Which shows how deluded they are

Waitwhat23 · 05/05/2026 16:24

I've seen Green posters in Leith, Corstorphine, and East Linton and a couple of SNP posters in Ravelston. Apart from those, pretty quiet.

makeitorbakeit · 05/05/2026 21:52

Is there anywhere online that has a breakdown/summary all in one place of each party with what false promises they are offering?

I want to vote tactically against SNP. Iv kind of been ignoring the whole thing but with it nearly being Thursday time to get my head out the sand I guess!

Igneococcus · 06/05/2026 13:09

Does anybody else get SNP ads on MN now?

Stillreadingalot · 06/05/2026 13:11

Same, although I do wonder how they think they'll achieve lower food costs.

Details, details. Swinney's magic money tree. It will be an amazing success like named person, the bottle recycling scheme and the running of the ferries.

Also this SNP charmer has been jailed today.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c5yrwd2n3weo

The key takeaway from the article is the victim saying he initially tried to get the matter dealt with by the SNP, but eventually went to the police after the party "tried to avoid the whole situation".

Jordan Linden arrives at court. He has short brown hair and is wearing a dark blue suit, light pink shirt and a yellow tie.
