Scottish Elections who do you think will take the majority of Seats?

Fundays12 · 12/04/2026 11:15

As a Scot I genuinely have no idea who to vote for.

I dont trust the SNP and find John Swinney completely incompetent. I wouldnt trust him to run my household budget let alone the countries so he is out for me. I cant stand labour, the tories well are not my cup of tea, lib dems and green would never get my vote.

However i dont seem to be alone in having no idea who to vote for which leaves me wondering who will take the majority of seats across Scotland. What do others think will happen?

There are so many cases of child sex abuse coming out from the SNP and the Greens (UK wide) and their favoured organisations. I'm starting to suspect that child sex abuse is what the Named Person scheme was really about - jobs for the boys. Am I being too cynical, or am I the last person in Scotland to realise that?

Frustration247 · 06/05/2026 13:57

The thought of an SNP / Green coalition ( which I think will happen) frankly makes me want to move.
what a sorry state .

Fuck knows what Named Person was really all about but it certainly wasn't for the good of children or family's.

The bit that got me was the kids rights to join organisations or however it was worded and they'd be nothing parents could do. It was a bit Natzi style controlling to me

The state struggles to look after the children who are actually in their care without messing around where its not needed.

I'm also cynical about the way Scottish Government websites are set up and everything about you is linked from job applications to your kids school report cards.

Sliverfish · 06/05/2026 14:16

I just feel that the Named Person scheme would have been incredibly easy to take advantage of. All those men who become scout leaders and similar to access children would have had an absolute field day with it. And surely that would have been obvious to the people who came up with the idea?

Does anybody else get SNP ads on MN now?

Yes I keep getting John Swinney's gurning face which is putting me off my snacks. No, I won't vote for them. See that thread on Scotsnet currently about teachers and violence in schools. Never mind all the other issues. Education is terrible now. And that's entirely the SNP fault.

Nimonion · 06/05/2026 15:30

I assume the trans rights, giving 8 year olds puberty blockers etc was all about keeping kids looking younger. And the Scottish youth parliament seems teeming with unsavoury scandal. Who would let their kids be involved in such a huge safe guarding red flag? You’d have to be such a naive parent!

And the creepy sex survey for school children 🤢

And insisting (and spending our money taking it to court) that violent rapists (men) should be put in prison with vulnerable women. What a bunch of weirdos!😤

Also this SNP charmer has been jailed today.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c5yrwd2n3weo

The key takeaway from the article is the victim saying he initially tried to get the matter dealt with by the SNP, but eventually went to the police after the party "tried to avoid the whole situation".

Not to mention his colleagues who spoke out in support of him. https://www.msn.com/en-ae/news/other/councillor-who-defended-snp-sex-predator-jordan-linden-to-be-probed-by-college-bosses/ar-AA20F5UX

Yes he's been popping up on my ads too. Serves a a good reminder of all the failures.

poodlemum01 · 06/05/2026 18:41

i dont know a single teacher who will vote snp and dd who is a student teacher may still have problems getting a job when she graduates as the snp wont be going anywhere until more voters wisen up and vote more sensibly.

Gingerkittykat · 06/05/2026 21:34

Igneococcus · 06/05/2026 13:13

Same, although I do wonder how they think they'll achieve lower food costs.

John Swinney made a very smug speech about this, he is going to use public health legislation to limit the cost of 20 basic supermarket items. It only applies to supermarkets and not corner shops.

The supermarkets already do value ranges, i.e. 54p for 1kg of white rice, 55p for 800g of white or wholemeal bread, 41p for 500g pasta. I don't think they will roill over and let the SNP dictate their prices, so I don't think the policy is workable.

Still no idea who I’m voting for. I know who I’m NOT voting for though so that’s something!

Yeah that was my original thought but will the Cons make any waves, will it be a wasted vote? I do find myself agreeing with Russell Findlay whenever he speaks.

I just want to do whatever I can to defeat the SNP, and then mix up the parliament so it’s not them and the weirdo greens

Needspaceforlego · 06/05/2026 23:47

I'm concerned that Reform and Labour will split the anti SNP vote so let them in with a minority vote if that makes sense

OldJohn · 07/05/2026 07:46

I voted at 07:00 this morning. I was surprised at how many parties were on the Regional list
