Scottish Elections who do you think will take the majority of Seats?

Fundays12 · 12/04/2026 11:15

As a Scot I genuinely have no idea who to vote for.

I dont trust the SNP and find John Swinney completely incompetent. I wouldnt trust him to run my household budget let alone the countries so he is out for me. I cant stand labour, the tories well are not my cup of tea, lib dems and green would never get my vote.

However i dont seem to be alone in having no idea who to vote for which leaves me wondering who will take the majority of seats across Scotland. What do others think will happen?

Have you been to SNP college too?

Yet again, someone who doesn’t live in Scotland opines.

Tell you what, for a section that is about feminism you all love calling women “men” and putting us down. I think it’s because you know you are all bigoted and normal women, like me, see how dangerous you are to women who are subject to abuse day in, day out, in their own homes and workplaces.

All over the world. That’s where they are allowed out to actually work.

But you dismiss them all because “trans”, “toilets”, “changing rooms”, “prisons” and “competitive sport”.

You should all be thoroughly ashamed of yourselves as you have put women’s rights back decades.

I have seen women on here prepared to vote for an “alliance” in which the only “party” left in it want to outlaw abortion.

So, yes. I have been to SNP college. I went there before I knew they existed.

Thanks to two parents who were more inclusive to people with differences in the 60s and 70s than you lot are in 2026.

Shameful.

Fill your boots. I won’t reply.

This isn’t an airport, you don’t have to announce your departure

Are you aware you are posting in Scotsnet on a thread about the Scottish election? You seem to think you are scolding women on the feminism board.

I'm absolutely a single issue voter.

Partly due to my agreement with the quote below.

And partly because of the wholesale capture of Scottish civic life and the shocking, craven acquiescence of our elected representatives and establishments to lobbying groups deliberately working to remove women's legal right to single sex services.

No, I won't 'wheesht for Indy'. No, I won't just 'hold my nose'.

I'm not going to deliberately vote for parties or individuals that harm women.

Oddly enough.

boobashka · 29/04/2026 19:41

Agree with the PPs. You’re never going to find a party that’s a 100% perfect fit, are you?
For me, it comes down to priorities. I’m pro-Union and pro-women's rights, so I’ll be voting Conservative x2. I don't love every single one of their policies, but after 19 years of the SNP, Scotland is in a total mess.

Nimonion · 29/04/2026 19:50

The party in control of Scotland thinks it’s okay to invite men into women’s changing rooms and women’s prisons. The reason why people are wondering whether you are a man is for most women that’s a mind-blowingly massive issue. And for you it’s not.

I’d LOVE to be able to peruse the manifestos of a range of parties and mull them over, but the awful stance on women’s rights on a number of parties rules those parties out automatically. Abortion isn’t a big issue as anti abortion activists haven’t successfully infiltrated public life. Anti women’s rights activists have.

No one is wondering. People are just being misogynists.

Same.

And out of their policies which I do like, education stands out. And is very important to me.

The SNP policies of inclusion above all else, no consequences, no evictions, no discipline have been disasterous.

Many have said it before on this thread, the single biggest issue is that the indy support vote overwhelmingly goes to SNP. The unionist vote is super split. So as long as SNP are able to monopolise the debate and push narrative of Scottish exceptionalism and push indy/anti-Westminster rhetoric, nothing will change.

It does not matter how badly or well they do, there is a core support that will not shift at all. Other parties don't have that luxury.

The indyref was horrendously decisive and we continue to live with the consequences.

You must have been a supporter of Indy then.

YellingAway · 02/05/2026 14:07

The state of education is a huge worry, we are going down in league tables. SNP can’t blame Westminster for this one as it solely sits with them.

Nimonion · 02/05/2026 13:29

I was, yes. Though my parents and best friends voted no. We didn’t fall out.

I don’t understand people who fall out over politics tbh.

My friends would still be a no, still vote Labour, we would still be a yes, still vote SNP.

I’m west of Scotland so have the football thing too. Complete opposites.

But we have a friendship spanning 43 years, brought up our children together, are close to each other’s extended families and see each other regularly.

It didn’t have to be divisive. On both sides.

We need to accept that at best the nhs in both Scotland and England is patchy though. Have you tried getting treatment for adhd? The wait is at least 4 years. 4 years of suffering. 4 years of not being able to give your best at school / work. And that’s before we get onto the fact that our cancer stats are the worst in Europe.

Can we please say we deserve better? If I’ve broken a leg and called for an ambulance, I want an ambulance to come immediately. Is that too much to ask?

We need to bin the current model and do better. Politicians need to concede this and stop messing around. If they leave it to Reform we’ll get a US healthcare system when a European one would be so much better than that - and SO much better than what we have now!

I shared my experience because I was also terrified about the chance of becoming ill, needing an ambulance, spending time in A and E and spending time on a hospital ward, and my experience was excellent.

I do agree that there are areas of the NHS that are pretty awful My adult DD can't get an autism assessment because they have stopped doing them in Fife.

I agree with looking at a European healthcare system. My cousin (a professional sportsman) had his hip replaced quickly and then had 6 weeks in a rehab facility in Germany.

My sister was recently stuck in Australia due to her flight home being repeatedly cancelled as her connection was in Doha. She saw a GP because her meds had run out; the GP appointment and a packet of generic antidepressants only cost her £60 without using insurance.

Back to who I am going to vote for it will reluctantly be Labour in the constituency as they are the only credible alternative to the SNP.

I have no idea who to vote for in my list vote. I want to vote against Reform, the Green Party and the SNP in that order, but there is nobody I feel enthusiastic about supporting.

Please leave me alone. It’s tedious having to ignore you tugging at my skirt for attention. I don’t know what is missing from your life, but I’m not the answer. If you find me rude or insulting then I have no idea why you continually post at me when you get nothing back. This will be my last post to you, but I know it won’t be your last to me.

Take care and I hope you find peace soon.

Learn how public discussion forums work, take your own advice, and don’t mock and insult victims of unwanted sexual behaviour from men in changing rooms would be a starter for 10. The above as tedious if not as boring as SNP ‘but Independence’ bores. Find peace in not insulting those with different political views online.

You might be in for a surprise. Pollsters predicted 25 SNP seats at the last Westminster Election. They ended up with 9. Plenty of shy Reform voters lurking... it’s going to be interesting. Popcorn at the ready on Fri.

Agreed. I won’t be voting Reform but I’d bet there will be a lot more people who will be who won’t be open about it.
