So only about 2 months til the final exams so starting a thread to discuss revision, exams etc.

Have any schools released details of easter revision classes yet? I've heard nothing from our school and don't know if they are doing any. If they aren't, I might look at what else is on offer over easter.

Nat 5 Geography seemed to go OK yesterday. Now on to Nat 5 history next week.

itsalwayscycling · 26/04/2023 10:22

Nat5 geography here yday was ‘okay’ biology tomorrow then one a week for the next 3 weeks. Glad to get them over relatively early (and feel for his mates doing D&M who have been postponed to the very end due to the coronation!)

Rae36 · 26/04/2023 11:10

Oh is that why D&M is so late? One of mine is sitting that too.

should have been on the coronation BH I think (is that the 8th?)

Rae36 · 26/04/2023 13:19

Damn King, he gets everywhere.

I've just had the opportunity to order my younger kid's school photo with or without "King Charles Coronation 2023" printed across his jumper. Seriously?

In Scotland?! That does surprise me (though I have no kids at primary school any more, I guess the primaries might be getting a bit more excited about it all…) thanks

Rae36 · 26/04/2023 14:16

It's Tempest so I suppose it's UK wide. I went for the King-free option. It was the same price.

Ds's first exam is higher maths next Thursday. He's enjoying study leave and has gone to the gym Grin

NicolaSturGONE · 26/04/2023 17:16

DD also has D&M at the later date. I think she's the only girl in the class but its her favourite subject.

Mine has managed to fit 2 dog walks and some rugby practice in despite biology tomorrow so I don’t think he’s too stressed 🙄

NicolaSturGONE · 26/04/2023 21:27

DD has been going into school every day to study, or so she says anyway, her BF is conveniently also going into school to study. DD says hardly anyone else is going in to study either.

DS1's first exam today, he's very stressed. He has anxiety and ADHD anyway so just trying hard to keep him on an even keel. It's his worst subject so hopefully once this on is out of the way things will be more chilled!

GottoHandit · 27/04/2023 12:11

Good luck to everyone in the thick of this. Biology Nat 5 starts in 1 hour😬- went through 2 past papers yesterday and this morning and did quite well but obviously not under exam conditions - most lost marks down to wrong maths so a wee refresher working out how to get percentage calculations right ie. If yield goes from 35kg to 42kg, what’s the percentage increase (I couldn’t remember how to do this but it came flooding back!) Also marks lost for misinterpreting the question. Hopefully careful reading and re-reading and not panicking will sort that. DNA sequencing/inheritance stuff the weakest area of knowledge but a bit late to do anything about that now unfortunately. Hopefully they’ll finish all the questions (fingers crossed emoji required 🙂)

Was it biology for your DS1 today weebarra? Hope it goes well.

itsalwayscycling · 27/04/2023 12:15

i would say 90% of lost marks for mine came from not reading the bloody questions properly! He does have extra time (dyslexic) so I’ve told him over and over to take time and make sure he’s answering the question actually asked. Good luck to all the biology cohort today!

theferry · 27/04/2023 12:38

DD had just left to go to Nat 5 biology. I have butterflies in my stomach for her!

TalkedTooMuchStayedTooLong · 27/04/2023 13:56

DS did (crash) Higher Geography on Monday and said it was ok... currently doing Advanced Higher Biology... he's in the fortunate position of having already accepted an unconditional Uni offer so it very laid back but hopefully still putting the effort in 🤞

DD1 in Nat 5 Biology this afternoon too... anxiety and autism means she has a room to herself (with invigilator of course) and extra time... she's been doing well at past papers at home so just hoping her anxiety doesn't get the better of her...

NicolaSturGONE · 27/04/2023 18:34

DD is incredibly moody today and tired looking. I think the stress is getting to her

Mine still has nearly another week until his start, getting in a tizzy now. Roll on 4 weeks today and his last one. He’s now convinced it’s a busted flush unless he gets anything other than 5 As

weebarra · 27/04/2023 21:19

The wait is tough! What's his first one?

dementedpixie · 27/04/2023 21:20

Is it higher maths on Thursday? That's my ds's first exam
