It's all over Twitter

I'm not clever enough to work out what's going on 😏

GoldenOmber · 22/05/2022 17:11

It does sound a teensy bit like bollocks, tbh.

WouldBeGood · 22/05/2022 17:41

I think it has the ring of truth, been known about for ages just gossiped about more openly now

OP posts:
WouldBeGood · 22/05/2022 17:42

Allegations been known about , no idea of the veracity

Bollocks were not involved in any way, shape or form @GoldenOmber. Allegedly.

Scottishskifun · 22/05/2022 17:55

Squirrel.....😉

RaraRachael · 22/05/2022 18:00

Ah. If it's what I've heard rumoured then bollocks definitely weren't involved 🤣

WouldBeGood · 22/05/2022 18:03

It is “new” train table day

Can they legally make you wear a mask at the health centre/in hospital?
This will stop me contacting my doctor for anything as I’m not putting myself through wearing a mask ever again

Was raging that she gets covid now when there are no implications for her.

Friends are doing an event on Friday and they were planning on using the train to save trying to find parking spaces, use public transport etc but alas they now can’t as the trains are cancelled! It’s ridiculous!

ScottishBeeswax · 22/05/2022 18:34

No I don't think they can make you legally wear one @runningpink
Healthcare settings have remained "wear a facemask unless you are exempt"
So you just need to declare you're exempt when you book your appointment and then should be fine

GoldenOmber · 22/05/2022 18:34

Oh yeah I know what the rumour is, it’s just any story that dramatic with that many people knowing about it that relies on that much “someone knows someone who knows someone who said… and tomorrow the story’s going to break in the papers! Oh look, it didn’t” feels a bit Hmm

My usual trains are still supposed to be running okay on the new timetable but ha, we’ll see. They’ve been awful recently. Plus had several issues last few weeks with trains that were running down to fewer carriages, meaning lots of grumpy packed-in people standing. Are the carriages working to rule as well as the drivers or something?

GoldenOmber · 22/05/2022 18:38

Also I do not understand why they can’t say how long the temporary timetable will last? If the issue is that they don’t have enough drivers, but they have drivers going through training, then why don’t they know how many they’re training or how long the training takes?

WouldBeGood · 22/05/2022 18:50

I need to go to edinburgh on Saturday but the only information on weekend trains is to look nearer the time 🤷🏻‍♀️

Sometimes I wonder if it’s just another way to make us stay at home

runningpink · 22/05/2022 19:19

Thanks @ScottishBeeswax Im technically not exempt but I don’t cope wearing them.
Guess I can cross that bridge as and when I need to

WouldBeGood · 22/05/2022 19:40

That is exempt @runningpink You don’t need anything formal to prove it

doctors who insist on masks must be pretty thick though

So I drove into town again yesterday (working can't get train home that late 🙄)

Jesus they have made it near impossible to park for any length of time during the day. Was fine the other night as after 6 but started at 1 yesterday 🤯🤯

Why? What is honestly the fucking point. Park in an NCP and it's about £20 quid. That's insane.

We were going to Edinburgh today for a family thing. Checked the trains last night, fine, checked at 7am this morning, fine, checked just before 12 as we planned on getting one just after 1pm to discover that most of them were cancelled. To be fair the one we had planned to get was apparently still running but then we started worrying about being stuck down there waiting for hours to get home. So, we ended up driving to the edge of the city and jumping on a tram.

It's just so unreliable you can't plan anything.

WouldBeGood · 22/05/2022 20:30

Oh god, that’s my worry @BinBandit I can’t risk getting stranded as DS would then be home alone over night. This is really a total shitshow, isn’t it?

OP posts:
WouldBeGood · 22/05/2022 20:32

And £30 to park in town for a few hours 😱

OP posts:
BeanMachine · 22/05/2022 20:35

That's exactly what happened to us today too @BinBandit.
All fine at 10pm last night; then when I check at 7.30 this morning, all options before 11am cancelled. We had things booked for my DS's birthday treat with pals.
Luckily we could get to Ingliston...

How they are going to persuade people to try the train when this is what happens, I really don't know.

BinBandit · 22/05/2022 20:36

It is a total shitshow. I guess it depends how frequent the trains are on your line. Ours are roughly 1 an hour, sometimes a bit less and it seemed to be that only every 3rd train was running so we were meant to be there at 2 but the next train running after the one we wanted wasn't due in Edinburgh until 5pm. When we left, my brother realised he'd just missed going for a train at 6.30 and his next wasn't until 8.30.

BeanMachine · 22/05/2022 20:38

Oh, and a couple of nights out with Edinburgh pals have had to be completely changed as my last train home (and for another friend) is now just after 8pm.

My folks live in rural north of Scotland, where a night out in town (Inverness) has never been possibly without a designated driver or v expensive taxi - it's now almost as bad here in the north central belt!

BinBandit · 22/05/2022 20:39

It's a nightmare @BeanMachine We know that side of the city fairly well so managed to park in a nearby residential street and get on at Balgreen.

BeanMachine · 22/05/2022 20:43

I completely agree. We used to live in Edinburgh and a lot of my pals/social life still involves Edinburgh. I'm furious. I get that there are myriad problems and issues that have built up into a perfect storm, but the railways will not improve by scaling things back to useless

WouldBeGood · 22/05/2022 20:51

The Scottish Government does not have a good track record (sorry!) on managing industrial affairs or business, so I can only think that this is only going to get worse.

Some leadership wouldn’t go amiss, as opposed to all the pish they’re focussed on
