Agree @Dinoteeth . And this on the back of 2 years of covid when teenagers weren't allowed to do anything. No wonder they want to meet up but there's nothing for them to do. Free bus travel would have been better spent on networks of youth clubs.

Dinoteeth · 18/05/2022 14:44

It wouldn't even be so bad if they'd said kids up to 18 or even 21 can still get half price on buses and trains.

Who doesn't remember pretending to be 15 forever, moving DoB as required

Dottychicken · 19/05/2022 11:49

Name changed from @mibbelucieachwell in order to finally post again after the MN youknowwhat.

Two rails. The rail services. Reducing them only months after the COP conference. I know, I know the scotrail staff are refusing to do overtime. ‘sSake.
Last Sunday I was all set to go into Glasgow on the train until I changed the timetable. Took the car instead. Sort it out please SG asap. Poor commuters.

GP clinic messaged to say mask wearing will be permanently compulsory now to protect vulnerable patients. If masks are so effective why didn’t they used to use them?

Meh, this is about liability, right?
We asked patients to wear, we even made it compulsory, so if you’ve caught Covid, it could not possibly be from our surgery and therefore you cannot hold us responsible for any conditions that may have developed as a result…type thing?

It’s the same as the mask wearing that went on and on in schools…don’t blame us, we’re making the students wear masks, so they must have caught it from their friends and socialising…

As for the trains. Ha, I’m surprised it’s taken this long for such a fail. Not unexpected, was anyone actually expecting a better service since ScotGov take over?

Dottychicken · 19/05/2022 13:13

Ahhh. Liability. Hmmm, I see what you mean. Could anyone actually prove where they caught covid though? Or how masks would have prevented it?

Guy from the train drivers’ union on RScotland claiming that the SG won’t authorise Scotrail to approve their pay request and if NS would butt out this could be fixed. 😆

Dinoteeth · 19/05/2022 13:14

The trains don't make sense. They've been fighting about overtime for months. How long does it take to train a train driver? Or conductors or points operaters?

Train more people.

Yes its wonderful to say we have fewer unemployed but we seem to have thousands working in low paid jobs part time and a real shortage of trained people in just about every sector.

WouldBeGood · 19/05/2022 13:22

Two, @Dottychicken I’m driving to Glasgow at the weekend when I’d normally have taken the train.

They've asked some dim witted Green MSP what she thinks about the slashing of rail services, and after checking if she “had to answer that” she said she’d “like the Scottish Government to engage with the unions” and sort it out ….

Yip I'm driving tonight when I would normally take the train to see diversity. Taking DD8 with me so not risking having to hang about central for god knows how long on a train.

Shower of shite the lot of them

WouldBeGood · 19/05/2022 16:31

Annoying! But have a good time @IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 !

Four trains cancelled tonight between ED and GW, so down to one an hour. FFS.

You can travel to other parts of the U.K. easier from both those cities today. Just saying…

KnitPurlKnitPurl · 20/05/2022 20:10

Herself has Covid.

Must be all that transatlantic gallivanting she's been doing.

JenniferAlisonPhilipaSue · 20/05/2022 20:28

wonder when the symptoms first appeared and who she met / what she did whilst having those symptoms...

Tiredoftiers · 20/05/2022 21:02

Personally I just want to know how she got a test, when her government policy is not to test? I hope she feels better soon though, covid isn’t pleasant.

Dinoteeth · 20/05/2022 22:26

It's shite totally fucking shite - it got her after isolation is no longer required - shite!

Little kids were forced to self isolate, not see a sod face to face. She went to work every day to stand on her soap box. Could it not have got her then? 😕

Haudyourwheesht · 20/05/2022 22:28

That was my thought. DH has covid so I've been testing (mostly out of curiosity) but my work have told me that unless I have symptoms I'm to come in anyway. So I'll not test so I'm not knowingly passing it on. (I'd be doing it unknowingly!)

Selkiesarereal · 21/05/2022 07:34

Agree about the trans being a nightmare and they have been for a while. I used to always get the train to work but switched to the car due to constant delays and cancellations, there is only so many times that you can be late for work/childcare.

But we will go ahead and implement LEV zones in our cities, which I am not totally against, rather than sort out the public transport system to encourage us away from our cars.

Haudyourwheesht · 21/05/2022 22:21

Agree about the trans being a nightmare

Quite the Mumsnet typo there. GrinGrin

Justmuddlingalong · 21/05/2022 22:34

"The Balmoral Incident" trending on twitter. Anyone heard anything?

KnitPurlKnitPurl · 22/05/2022 09:33

Well well well. There's a very interesting hashtag about an incident in a certain Edinburgh hotel on Twitter this morning.

KnitPurlKnitPurl · 22/05/2022 09:46

I have messaged you Just Muddling as I think the incident is subject to a court order forbidding discussion of the details.

Dinoteeth · 22/05/2022 09:48

The Balmoral incident - I thought you were talking about something to do with the Royals 😂

KnitPurlKnitPurl · 22/05/2022 09:55

No - an incident in a hotel which those of us of a certain age still call the North British.

RaraRachael · 22/05/2022 10:39

Ooh the "Balmoral Incident" sounds intriguing!

Selkiesarereal · 22/05/2022 12:46

@Haudyourwheesht oops, it certainly was!

Haudyourwheesht · 22/05/2022 14:16

It's all over Twitter.
