All credit to the ScotGov admin team who ‘found’ the email about ‘the ferries’ sign off, just on the very day #KrankieGoesToHollywood (😝)

Nic’s now far too busy on the IrnBru international PR trail, to be dealing with the small matter of ferries back home in Scotland.

WouldBeGood · 11/05/2022 21:55

And Swinney involved in the ferries too…

i hope it’s not true they all flew business class to the US

They make a big performance about ‘finding’ the missing document, coincidentally right before a debate the whole fiasco, and claim it’s irrefutable evidence that Derek Mackay signed it off. Firstly that’s not what it actually says at all as it actually implicates John Swinney (do they not think people will actually read these things?), but who signed off wasn’t the key question anyway. What audit Scotland said is missing is why it was signed off given the warnings, it being the most expensive bid, and the lack of the usual safeguards. Audit Scotland have confirmed this new evidence doesn’t answer that question.

To me it seems like the SNP wanted some positive headlines so produced a document right in the eve of a debate that might have produced negative ones, but there’s still a lot more to this story being covered up.

NowThatsWhatICall22 · 12/05/2022 10:12

Absolutely spot on. I really have no tolerance for them treating us like minions, as though we can’t see through all the performance of the ‘email is found’.

How very convenient that Nic is overseas acting above her pay grade and somehow exempt from answering the many, many questions surrounding this.

JenniferAlisonPhilipaSue · 12/05/2022 19:57

lets not forget it was found once the council elections were over too

Haudyourwheesht · 12/05/2022 20:40

Was she not at FM questions today?

WouldBeGood · 12/05/2022 22:35

No, @Haudyourwheesht , she’s networking in the US at our expense

Loving this:

mapleleavesreturn · 14/05/2022 07:55

You can see the SNP's lack of expertise in so many things but especially this - it's like a 1970s Yes, Minister farce - lost the documents, found a document, redacted the document but bungled it, and again, not following legal advice.

Fingers crossed for sunshine here!

WouldBeGood · 14/05/2022 09:32

Morning railers!

Another rail rail here: took dd for a train last night, cancelled for the second time and now the trains are every hour, not every half hour, as they have always been. Another blinder from our newly SG run ScotRail.

Its most frustrating as they try to force us out of our cars 🤷🏻‍♀️

WouldBeGood · 14/05/2022 09:33

@mapleleavesreturn yes, lack of expertise describes it well.

And absolutely no insight into it.

@BinBandit gosh, I’m no fan of DR but he was pretty good there!

I used to redact documents the old fashioned way, print off, use a black marker then photocopy and either use that paper form or scan it back into the computer. Fool proof. What is interesting though is that surely the redaction should have been to remove the personal details not remove whole paragraphs of pertinent information? And agree DR did well and i'm not a fan either.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 15/05/2022 15:31

Honestly, how to they repeatedly get away with such incompetence??

But today I'm railing about the weather. It's nice enough this weekend, but I want a bit of proper scorchio weather. That isn't punctuated by clouds and chilly breezes.

WouldBeGood · 15/05/2022 19:43

On board witness the weather railing @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo / it’s fucking freezing!!

Railing that the pretty much only bus service (others only go to remote areas so not really relevant unless you live in these places) that does through my town have now reduced to every hour 7days a week.
I haven’t been getting bus with covid but I will probably now continue not to get said bus as not frequent enough.

Must make it really difficult for those who need to commute for work

WouldBeGood · 15/05/2022 22:47

@runningpink I don’t understand why public transport is being cut when they’re supposed to be all about the climate 🤷🏻‍♀️

LizzieMacQueen · 15/05/2022 22:57

300 trains cancelled today too. I think there's threat of more cancellations as drivers strike over pay. I'd thought that had all been resolved.

WouldBeGood · 15/05/2022 23:09

It’s a bloody shambles

Milngavie line?

Trains used to be every 15 minutes during the day, then 30 minutes at night. Now it's every 30 minutes during the day and 1 hour at night. Took DD and her friends to the station through the week for a trip into town post-exam. Train cancelled, next one in an hour had to run them to Partick instead. DH and I out for a meal couple of weeks ago in Finnieston, Exhibition Centre station closed. It has now reopened, but Anderston is now closed instead.

But hey, the SNP have made such a stellar job of the ferries, let's hope they do just the same with the trains.

WouldBeGood · 16/05/2022 10:10

EK to Glasgow @KnitPurlKnitPurl so looks like it’s widespread.

Next year I won’t be able to drive my car to Glasgow centre, and not looking great for a train there.

What a mess they’re making.

Blimeyherewegoagain · 16/05/2022 10:16

For any of you dropping students off in halls next year, Strathclyde fall within the no drive zone, so there’ll be a charge for that.

mapleleavesreturn · 16/05/2022 10:17

What a soggy Monday this is. Could also really do with some hot weather!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 16/05/2022 14:09

Some breaking news in The Scotsman suggesting services to be cut by around a third to cut costs... All while our FM on tour talking about climate change.

WouldBeGood · 16/05/2022 14:17

Surely to goodness if you’re genuinely wanting to do something about climate change why would you not improve public transport instead of making it worse?
