Taken the death rate from 10 in 1000 to 13 in 1000. The papers will all report this as a tsunami of death coming at your face.

It is by no means certain it’s “more deadly”.

But an excellent way to scare people.

It’s really scary stuff a higher mortality rate isn’t good at all.

Could other countries follow Spain in this stance on tourists?

On another article I read sorry no link, that Spain has ordered vaccines for approx 56% population.

Though we must remember the mortality rate for Covid is tiny

Yes @wouldbegood, it’s excellent for more hysteria, but it could well just be hospitals are not coping as well, not the variant itself that’s more deadly. It’s not sounding great for freedom anytime soon though.

Just catching up with the news, I see NS has been saying we should limit visits to the supermarket to once a week and we should shop alone 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 what were we saying earlier this week about her not being in the same situation as us?

Very easy to say when your driver or PA picks up anything you need and no doubt organises your online shopping spot.

The supermarket is the only place I can go alone right now. I'll still be going.

Chickenpox is contagious. If you have it you should stay home. It's dangerous for some in society and some people even die of it. The elderly are particularly susceptible so they are routinely vaccinated. But we don't all have to stay the fuck at home because of chickenpox! Once the vulnerable groups are vaccinated can we not just treat covid like chickenpox?!
I'm honestly happy to take my chances once the vulnerable are done.

It’s all such unnecessary overreach, with this need to lecture on micro level details of our lives. If I want to go every day for 10 minutes, rather than once a week for much longer to do a big shop, that’s up to me and is also subject to my family arrangement for looking after my DC whilst someone grown up is food shopping.

How long before we’re told how long to chew our food for before swallowing it?

That’s so wrong as well, I’m struggling to get deliveries for elderly relatives again , so feel that I should just go and not take up valuable slots

Agree @WouldBeGood I’ve not had a slot since last January, pre pandemic as I knew I was perfectly able to go to supermarket, I shouldn’t be taking up a spot that can be used by someone on their own/shielding etc. Online ordering shouldn’t be encouraged, but in the message today it was and there will be perfectly healthy people in areas like mine with zero community positive Cvd cases now ordering online, because they think it’s the right thing to do.

I haven't looked at delivery slots as like others i don't need a delivery, i have a car etc. so leaving the spots for folk who might need one. I have been doing click and collect though as there are always loads of slots at mine, even the day before (apart from when they announced further restrictions and there was a bit of panic). I can't be gassed going into the shop, i don't want to wear a mask for personal reasons but i do if required/it's just a quick shop.

I've done a couple of deliveries from Iceland but that's usually a night before order as I can see there is availability. I reckon there are probably not a lot of elderly or vulnerable desperately looking for a delivery for next day, on-line, an hour before the order deadline.

I've found season 2 of blown away (like bake off but with glass blowing) on Netflix so I'm happy. I have snacks and cider.

Bit much her saying shop once a week and alone. Has she even thought about this from shoppers and the supermarkets POV. They can’t magic up more delivery slots it’s added pressure and anxiety to some people panicking about slots, many of whom will be elderly vulnerable who will think ‘oh dear better not go out’ but they will if there isn’t a slot available.
10 months off this now; most of us are if not already at the end of our tether.

Yes! It’s so good. There’s an awful lot of dropping🤣 but love their resilience and the way they help each other out.
