@icanboogieboogiewoogie

Has anyone got their tax rebate for wfh? It's one of these things that I'll probably not get round to doing.
I’m annoyed as I get nothing as I’m technically neither employed nor self employed, despite being on, effectively, a zero hours contract for the state.
Cismyfatarse · 17/01/2021 22:59

Does anyone know why vaccine rollout has been so slow here compared to England? I get the remote bits but surely getting to the over 80s in the densely populated bits should be no different. This article is neutrally expressed - just figures - but makes for pretty shocking reading. Has Scotland been slower to vaccinate over-80s? www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-55675796

I read Scotland was ahead doing NHS staff, not sure if that's bull or true. But they are behind with the over 80s.

We do seem to be weeks behind England
NS doesn’t mention that in her daily party political broadcast

It's quite easy to do:

www.gov.uk/tax-relief-for-employees/working-at-home

But you don't get a rebate, they just adjust your tax code and it's the benefit of a tax reduction on a fictitious payment of £6 that I don't think many employers are actually paying regardless of whether they've actually done pretty well out of covid and saved themselves lots of money by not having staff in.

My tax code is never right and they change it every few months despite me having a pretty straightforward pay regime. As a result I think I got an increase in my tax code of about £12 for year.

It's because we don't understand that actually being behind means we are doing better than everywhere else... Hmm

I think we seem to be doing something different from what was recommended and when last I looked, Wales had caught up (and passed?) us too.

I appreciate that remoter areas will mean that the "last gasp" might take longer but there seem to be supply issues on getting it out to GP offices from what i understand.

icanboogieboogiewoogie · 17/01/2021 23:28

I know of quite a number of 'remote' people who have been vaccinated so probably not that.

WaxOnFeckOff · 17/01/2021 23:33

Our GP website still says they are awaiting confirmation of when they will get first supplies of the vaccine - not even awaiting vaccine, awaiting info on when they might be getting it. They anticipated the first or 2nd week of January. This is Forth Valley and I guess the website might just not have been updated but if they are still waiting on info, that's pretty poor.

Peppafrig · 18/01/2021 07:20

Anyone else out and about this morning and shocked that the roads are as busy as ever.

Groovee · 18/01/2021 07:25

My work hours have changed when I am in school these days but it was so busy last week when I left 45 minutes later.

My GP surgery has a recorded message saying they don’t know when they’ll get their doses but can everyone please stop phoning because they’re inundated 😳 obviously I have no idea why Scotland is lagging behind but Nicola knows enough people love her that if folk complain they’ll be shot down fast.
Iwillneverbesatisfied · 18/01/2021 07:55

There will be some way to blame westminster

Y0uCann0tBeSer10us · 18/01/2021 08:00

"obviously I have no idea why Scotland is lagging behind but Nicola knows enough people love her that if folk complain they’ll be shot down fast"

Sadly this does seem to be the case. Despite the Scottish government conceding that they did in fact get half a million doses from the UK a while ago (with more due this month), and conceding that there are issues getting these doses out the GPs and that they're working with health boards to resolve these, you still have people lining up to blame evil Westminster for not giving us our share 🙄

I see this morning that the British Army is now being brought in to help establish more vaccination centres which they hope to set up in the next four weeks, and plans are there for mass vaccination centres. So we are still planning, while England has 17 mass vaccination sites already, and is starting to vaccinate over 70s in parallel with the other groups already under way. We all got our share of vaccine at the same time and we all knew this was coming months ago, so there's really no reason we should be behind. I'm just seriously sick of the excuses and deflection and want them to bloody get on with it.

And you're part of the traffic.

All manner of reasons why people were out and about. We went for a walk along the river Clyde on Saturday and there were lots of cars and people about - probably because 5000 got their jag at the SECC that day.

WouldBeGood · 18/01/2021 08:16

I haven’t noticed the traffic as I’m STFAH 😂

RaspberryCoulis · 18/01/2021 08:17

We have a direct comparison on the vaccine speed thing.

My parents (age 76 and 75) live in Scotland. DH's parents (both 76) live in England.

Nobody has been called yet. But I fully expect DH's parents to get theirs first.

WouldBeGood · 18/01/2021 08:17

I do love it when people who are out complain about other people being out though

anon444877 · 18/01/2021 08:17

My DP should be getting their letter! I expect Scotland will catch up - we have more money per head spent on health so really we ought to finish vaccines sooner.

Peppafrig · 18/01/2021 08:19

@RaspberryCoulis I am well aware I am part of the traffic . I have to travel to my non essential job. I’m just shocked the government can think this is tougher restrictions after the new regulations came in on Saturday. It’s exactly the same as last Monday.

MissEliza · 18/01/2021 08:19

@anon444877 spending more money doesn't mean better organised or more efficient.

Peppafrig · 18/01/2021 08:20

@WouldBeGood how nice you are staying at home . But thousands of us in the construction industry are travelling up and down the country . Doing non essential jobs.

WouldBeGood · 18/01/2021 08:21

@anon444877 just warn them to be sure to answer the phone. My DF missed his snd I think a lot of places are using the phone as the post is so slow just now.

MissEliza · 18/01/2021 08:21

Anyway I'm not going indulge anyone who wants to turn this into Scotland v England. I hope everyone gets this ASAP and I've nothing but gratitude for those organising it

WouldBeGood · 18/01/2021 08:23

@Peppafrig sorry, it was a joke.

I wasn’t judging, as I say I’m just fed up of people doing things for which they judge others.

I don’t give two hoots who’s out and about tbh

titsbumfannythelot · 18/01/2021 08:25

In the plus side all people I know who work in nhs or care roles have now been vaccinated. Longevity isn't a thing in my family, so I don't know anyone over 80 to ask about them.
