Oh fuck nursery schools closed

Iwillneverbesatisfied · 04/01/2021 14:20

@TimeforLaChange you're on the wrong thread if you expect people to be complimentary about Nicola Sturgeon.

icanboogieboogiewoogie · 04/01/2021 14:20

Schools are first priority to reopen. Considering vaccinating teachers and other school staff.

icanboogieboogiewoogie · 04/01/2021 14:20

@Rae36

So all that's possibly left for us is teenager's football training outside? Or is that off because he's over 12?
I think it might be @Rae36
StatisticallyChallenged · 04/01/2021 14:21

Remains priority to get schools open asap - two factors mean it's not consistent with safety first

  1. overall transmission too high.
  2. still significant uncertainty about new variant transmission amongst young people.

Review on 18th Jan to see if they can return on 1st Feb as planned. (fat fucking chance IMO)

Schools and nurseries will be the first to reopen, considering to what extent we can achieve vaccination of school and childcare staff as a priority.

I have no love for NS but there is still no need for misogynist slurs

StatisticallyChallenged · 04/01/2021 14:23

current expectations re vaccine

Well over 100k have received first doses. First Oxford vaccines today.
Expect just over 900k doses of vaccine roughly equally between the two in January. Don't yet have certainty beyond Jan but current expectation is that by early May everyone over 50 and those under 50 with specific conditions (entire priority list) will have first vaccine

Baycob · 04/01/2021 14:23

Are driving theory tests cancelled ?

AllPlayedOut · 04/01/2021 14:24

Are there any restrictions on exercise in Level 4?

StatisticallyChallenged · 04/01/2021 14:24

@Rae36

So all that's possibly left for us is teenager's football training outside? Or is that off because he's over 12?
Off I'd say - 11 and under over. She said over 12s have to exercise outside consistent with 2 people 2 household rule
littlbrowndog · 04/01/2021 14:24

May !!

fluffyugg · 04/01/2021 14:25

May?! A couple of million people by May? That's not exactly speedy is it?

Dollybagwash · 04/01/2021 14:25

Childminders? She didn't address it will it be the same you think

StatisticallyChallenged · 04/01/2021 14:27

Didn't cover childminders (or out of school care)

anon444877 · 04/01/2021 14:27

No no @StatisticallyChallenged it's not the Oxford vaccine it's the Astra Zeneca one 😂

It's not fast enough may is too far away...come oooooon. That is nowhere near enough hope.

WouldBeGood · 04/01/2021 14:27

May....

fluffyugg · 04/01/2021 14:28

And that was only the first jab by May...2nd in Summer so under 50s are a long way off.

ItsIgginningtolookalotlikeXmas · 04/01/2021 14:28

I feel good about May to be honest, having seen a date next year in one of those online vaccine calculators.

Iwillneverbesatisfied · 04/01/2021 14:29

5 people max for weddings? what about funerals?

WouldBeGood · 04/01/2021 14:30

I think it’s more misogynistic to shut schools with the inevitable consequences for working women.
