Are any of you angry with N.S.

In Aberdeen she locked us down at 77 cases. We were fully locked down. 5 mile travel ban. Nobody in or out if the city unless for work/care. The lockdown lasted 3 weeks with no spread.

The cases in Glasgow were extremely high before NS took action.

So I'm asking , if you dont live in Glasgow are you annoyed that the central belt ( and related areas) spread could have been avoided?

I think the information regarding spread of the virus has given rise to different advice for the different areas. Aberdeen spread was seen mainly in pubs, whereas in west of Scotland there's been many more cases of transmission at house parties etc. That's my take on it. I'm not Glasgow but remember something on a briefing about differences in transmission.

DowntonCrabby · 17/11/2020 17:19

I’m in Aberdeen and not angry.

Arkadia · 17/11/2020 17:52

The question is WHY lock a part of Scotland at 77 case, while leave another open at 777 cases for weeks and weeks. Where the transmission might be is immaterial.
Say you cocked up in Aberdeen and move on, but can't have your cake and eat it.

Meepmeeep · 17/11/2020 18:02

It’s a fucking joke isn’t it. She took all of about a day to lock down Aberdeen for next to no cases in comparison to the current cases. It’s taken months for her to take strong action against her beloved Glasgow. Had she taken quicker action, it might not have ended up in tier 4.

WeAllHaveWings · 17/11/2020 18:24

I am in East Ayrshire, just moving into tier 4, and not angry with NS. I am angry as we have had a recent family bereavement due to covid, not quite sure who with but likely to be either the covid deniers, those that bend the restrictions or the virus itself.

thefirstmrsrochester · 17/11/2020 18:38

North Lanarkshire here, I’m sad for the loss of family members due to covid, for children and young people who have given up so much in this pandemic which affects them the least, for families who cannot see each their loved ones, for business which are struggling, for everyone struggling but why the hell would I be angry at NS for moving regions into level 4 restrictions when transmission of the virus isn’t controlled by the restrictions formerly in place? Viruses transmit because that’s what they do and limiting social contact is the only way of mitigation until there is a vaccine.

Merename · 17/11/2020 18:52

I’m also not angry with NS. The Aberdeen lockdown was the first bigger outbreak after the full lockdown so it makes sense to me that the govt went at it hard to squash it as soon as possible. The current central belt situation is a completely different set of circumstances- in a full on second wave, an effort was made to try to bring numbers down less harshly but it didn’t work so lockdown last resort. I think any attempt to make it about views of different areas is very harsh on someone who is clearly feeling the heavy burden of making decisions trying to preserve life and balance many other priorities.

Hayeahnobut · 17/11/2020 18:55

I'd be grateful that lockdown happened before things got out of control. That's a good thing, that's how it should happen.

anon444877 · 17/11/2020 19:23

So grateful to our glorious leader for being the first UK leader to make freedom of movement illegal. What a milestone!

HirplesWithHaggis · 17/11/2020 19:31

I'm not angry. I'm just glad we have managed to arrange meeting my two week old granddaughter for the first time tomorrow, before we move up to tier four.

Finfintytint · 17/11/2020 19:32

Clap Clap NS. You have just destroyed every small business. You failed to manage care homes and hospital admissions. ( which you continue
to lie about). If NS is really really serious about limiting the transmission then schools need to shut. No didn’t think so.

user1487194234 · 17/11/2020 19:51

I am absolutely furious

Bejazzled · 17/11/2020 19:58

It’s genuinely astonishing. How on earth is she going to have us policed, watchtowers? I’m not angry, I’m disgusted, sad, scared and voiceless in my own country. I feel totally let down by this inept SNP government (yes. I know ‘but Boris’ - but his decisions aren’t affecting my and my families lives)
Happylittlethoughts · 17/11/2020 19:58

I'm not angry. I think they are managing an ever changing set of variables as best they can at the time. Just gone into 4 here

Dinnaehinksae · 17/11/2020 20:05

As a pp said, in Aberdeen they were able to fairly confidently say that the spread was due to pubs being open and could take action. I'm in West Lothian and previously we were facing stricter regulations but they couldn't seem to pinpoint one area in which to do it, it wasn't obviously coming from pubs or house parties. I'm not angry, I am a bit surprised but honestly, with the shops up here I can understand it. It seems every weekend recently one of the shopping centres is having to close it doors for a while to limit numbers whereas the other right beside seems to have noone even keeping track so they just all pile in there instead. Its madness and people just don't seem to be taking it as seriously as they should round here.

Trumplosttheelection · 17/11/2020 20:34

Hmmm Glasgow and Dundee she takes ages to do anything, Aberdeen she stamps on. Just remind me how the cities voted in the referendum again.....

Trumplosttheelection · 17/11/2020 20:35

And the freedom of movement thing is an outrage.

Notspecialflake · 17/11/2020 21:01

Also angry. As for the comment on 'it spread in pubs in Aberdeen, in houses in Glasgow so different restricions'...just because some cases spread in one place doesn't mean that is where they will spread again in the future- it makes no sense at all. It's human to human transmission wherever someone has the virus - regardless of where it is. It is nonsense to say, "oh the Aberdeen cases were from pubs so close the pubs". Would be house spreading too the next day! Nicola S is increasingly Draconian. Movement of people is low illegal! It's a disgrace. Why won't she put this to the Scottish Parliament for a vote? This is a democracy. Its a one party (and really one woman within that party) state. No effective opposition and a weak national media mean she is essentially unaccountable and can do what she likes. Clapped on by loads of SNP supporters who can't critically evaluate anything she does. I used to like her - can now see through her with the grandstanding and power madness. Never mind the dodginess of the Alex Salmond business where she "forgot" when she was first told of sex allegations against her long-standing colleague/ mentor/ friend. Who forgets that moment? Then there was her trying to change a complaints policy just after her office were informed of the allegations against him. She personally urged the policy to be changed so Alex Salmond, as a former minister, could be brought within the scope of the policy. That is abuse of power. www.heraldscotland.com/news/18858466.alex-salmond-inquiry-nicola-sturgeon-ordered-misconduct-policy-48-hours-accuser-disclosure-aide/

blowinahoolie · 17/11/2020 21:14

Not angry at Nicola per se, just about the whole sorry saga that's all. What a mess it all has become. Really starting to feel disillusioned with it all. Forgot what it's like to do food shop without a face covering now! How weird to think one day again we will be free to walk into a shop without one.

MissPollyPops · 17/11/2020 21:15

I'm not angry.. Restrictions need to be in place..

TartanTed · 17/11/2020 22:43

I’m angry. It’s so blatantly politically motivated. Aberdeen gets locked down instantly yet weeks go by before similar restrictions, which would have reduced the spread, are placed on the West Coast/ Dundee. Can’t upset her fan base....

Babdoc · 17/11/2020 23:08

I can’t understand how her idiot supporters think she has made a good job of handling the pandemic.
Scotland’s death rate is worse than Slovakia and Denmark, which both have the same size population as Scotland.
Scotland’s percentage of care home deaths was worse than England. The contact tracing system is a failure, and she covered up the Nike outbreak and failed to warn contacts who then spread it all over the north east of England. She also let the match at Murrayfield go ahead straight afterwards, despite mocking England for allowing the race meeting at Cheltenham. And the failure to lock down Glasgow was blatantly political - feeble excuses about pubs v houses notwithstanding.
I cannot abide the SNP and their lamentable record on education, business and health. Scotland has the lowest rate of business start ups per head of the whole UK, they have wasted taxpayers money on the disastrous ferry contract, propping up the business failures of Bifab and buying the loss making Prestwick airport. All the SNP are good at is whinging for bailout money from England, then pretending it’s their own cash that’s keeping us afloat. While biting the hand that feeds them and demanding a rerun of the independence referendum until they get the result they want. They make me sick. And their smirking leader with her beyond irritating whiny voice is the worst of a very bad bunch!

ladylunchalot · 17/11/2020 23:30

I'm not angry with NS, she's damned with whatever she does, being leader is akin to having a poisoned chalice. It's always easier to criticise when you're not the one having to make the tough calls.
I'm now in level 4 and I do think it's the right place to be - I do think we should have been moved into it sooner.
I just wish everyone would play their part and stick with the rules. Our local hospital is full at the seams and it can't go on unless there is a drastic change.
I also don't want to lose any more friends to covid.

I thought she was doing a good job at the start but I think she’s worse than Boris now.
