dontforgetbilly · 21/10/2020 20:37

Curious polling technique

Svelteinmydreams · 21/10/2020 20:38

@grumplass & @goldenharvest. This is Mumsnet. Disagreement is not trolling.

feministfemme · 21/10/2020 20:40

People start these kind of threads all the time. It's just to gauge some basic numbers - if you'd like a debate I'm sure at least a few of us would go onto a new thread created.

MrsPresley · 21/10/2020 20:44

Yes! Always yes! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

This thread is so typical of the SNP mindset. No debate. Just chanting mantras of Westmonster bad, independence good. No regard for the advice of their own economists, who have warned they face 25 years of austerity if they choose independence.
Scotland’s deficit is already nearly double Zimbabwe’s. It will be worse still after the pandemic. What a stupid time to be trying to break up the country, losing all the UK subsidies and support.
Good luck trying to find the cash reserves to set up your own currency, mint and central bank.
Ditto your own armed forces, pension funds, benefits and health service. And paying extra for your mortgages and imports with your new weak currency.

@Babdoc 👏👏👏Thank-you. You said it so much better than I would have.

IHateCoronavirus · 21/10/2020 20:51

Yes (but only if you take the north of England with you too) [waves hopefully] 🙋‍♀️

hairypaws · 21/10/2020 20:52

Yes, yes, yes

I'm curious why your trying to count supporters? Or is it like an yes vote support thread, kind of like the October baby bus support type threads?

Should there be a hell no for independence thread as well?

Weesweetiewife · 21/10/2020 21:04

Yes!

ParkheadParadise · 21/10/2020 21:09

100% YES

Scotslassie1 · 21/10/2020 21:10

Maybe OP wanted cheering up on a dreary Wednesday. Wink

grumplass · 21/10/2020 21:13

Haha @Scotslassie1 could definitely do with it!!
Can't believe that the only people on Mumsnet are bitter unionist antimaskers. Let's have an October bus type thread! Anyone know how it works?

HeyWaffle · 21/10/2020 21:15

Actually having now read the Nicola Sturgeon thread I can see why you might want a yes support thread. I hate what the independence debate does to people, so aggressive and turning people against each other.

I'm a hell no so I'll be off out your thread now.

Mumguilt19 · 21/10/2020 21:16

100% yes!! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Mibbees · 21/10/2020 21:31

Broadly, yes I am a supporter of an independent Scotland, and have been for quite some time. I was leafleting for the SNP in the early 1990s when they were very much a minority party. Would I vote yes in a forthcoming referendum, well that is another question. The economic forecasts are bleak and the currency question still unanswered (and all the options have their drawbacks). I think as I’m getting older I see it as a decision of the head, not the heart, and I’ve also realised it’s not about me saying well I’m happy to take a hit financially for something I believe in, but it’s me imposing that on other people as well.

Depending on the metric you are using, add me to your total or not. I hope you will respect that I’ve answered your question honestly.

Once we achieve independence and a general election is called I won't be voting SNP.

You're making a bit of an assumption there.

ApolloandDaphne · 21/10/2020 21:35

Absolutely not.

Dozer · 21/10/2020 21:36

On what basis, EU membership? Because that’s unrealistic.
