Interesting figures and projections for each area in the government’s document. I don’t understand why Edinburgh is in tier 3 when hospital admissions are not concerning www.gov.scot/binaries/content/documents/govscot/publications/factsheet/2020/10/coronavirus-covid-19-protection-levels-updated-draft-27-october-2020/documents/indicators-paper/indicators-paper/govscot%3Adocument/Indicators%2Bpaper%2B26%2BOct%2B1645.pdf

Gawd these tiers are like bingo.

How do we know where we are in tiers and how we got there

It’s pants the whole tier thing

Didn’t WHO say lockdown doesn’t work

Bytheloch · 27/10/2020 18:16

@danidella

Sat here really upset. I was hoping that Fife would be in Tier 1 but doesn't look likely. I am expecting my first child in December and my parents (divorced) want to come see the baby for a couple of days. I live in a Tier 1 area in England.
No matter what tier they’re in, so far travel restrictions are only advisory. They would be free to travel down (by car, I’m assuming) and not be stopped for any reason. Once in England they can follow the guidance of your area. I travelled down to see my family (who I hadn’t seen in nearly a year) at the half term. It’s easier for your parents to leave Scotland to see you than you coming up here (not that you would with a newbornConfused) and they could even form a bubble with you once down there? Flowers
Bytheloch · 27/10/2020 18:20

P.S. I really despise that phrase of ‘forming a bubble’ I shouldn’t have used it, it’s not a bubble, it’s being with those closest to you whether they are friends or family.

fluffyugg · 27/10/2020 18:43

Tier 1 not getting in home socialising to start with I see...

WouldBeGood · 27/10/2020 18:47

@MadameBlobby I would ignore her but can’t if she fucking shuts everything.

Rae36 · 27/10/2020 18:48

I would avoid news on the telly, and delete apps. It's so easy to start to obsess over statistics and conflicting opinions

I've done this. I just can't be bothered any more. None of it makes sense. We've decided what we are going to do for Christmas, we're going to take the kids out of school a week early and stay at home, then rent an air bnb near my parents and see them on Christmas day and boxing day. So that's sorted, I can't face thinking about all the rest.

But I appreciate we're lucky to both be able to work from home and have reasonable job security for now. So the worst we have to worry about is whether we can go to a cafe or not and I can deal with that worry.

I find it beyond irritating that the 5 tiers only go up to number 4. Surely the tiers should be 1-5? If you're in tier 0 then surely you're not in any tier at all and have no restrictions? Pile of shite, honestly. (I realise the num wring of the tiers is really not something worth being pissed off about but that small thing has just tipped me over the edge)

Rae36 · 27/10/2020 18:49

num wring numbering

WouldBeGood · 27/10/2020 19:11

@Rae36 it just feels like part of the Newspeak

WouldBeGood · 27/10/2020 19:11

I can imagine them “brainstorming”... yeah, 0/4 doesn’t sound as bad as 1-5

anon444877 · 27/10/2020 19:15

So tier 1 but no in home socialising to start with, so making a mockery of the tiers from the start? Many layers that all feel broadly similar. I'm another one who finds limiting checking the news helpful, there is very little real change in the 'news'.

Even today, this tier stuff won't be close to definitive til Thursday.

anon444877 · 27/10/2020 19:23

I've understood the point of the tier 0 now, it's levels 0-4 because level 0 is the new 'the snp has contained covid' in this area level, it's not normal it's the covid victory level.

And of course tier 0 is more achievable data wise than 0 deaths or actual numbers of cases, and easier to remember in tweets.

Scotslassie1 · 27/10/2020 19:37

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-54711321 Explains the conditions for each tier.

MadameBlobby · 27/10/2020 19:41

I am so fucked off, the bunch of incompetent lying bastards. 16 days this was supposed to be for, then extended for another week. Now just keep the same restrictions but call it something different. Do they think we are bloody daft?

WaxOnFeckOff · 27/10/2020 19:42

The document Ecosse shared earlier gives an indication of where each council area sits at the moment for the different parameters. I think it is using some Imperial College modelling again which is not good news given their track record and mainly being to blame for where we find ourselves.

fluffyugg · 27/10/2020 19:48

I wonder where we can find out % of positive tests in our local authority?

throwingawaymyshot · 27/10/2020 19:58

are we going to get a tier -1?

WaxOnFeckOff · 27/10/2020 19:58

yeah, it's on the document above, it's also on Travelling Tabby and the Public Tableau.

Which LA are you looking for?

fluffyugg · 27/10/2020 20:02

@WaxOnFeckOff looking for Aberdeenshire...cases are just 23 per 100 000 so if we're going to tier 2 I'm assuming our % of positive tests must be high or hospital admissions possibly

fluffyugg · 27/10/2020 20:05

Actually 30 per 100 000

WaxOnFeckOff · 27/10/2020 20:06

Tests is 1.72 for Aberdeenshire. Hospital admissions is done by health board, Grampian capacity 214, projected demand is 64. ICU capacity 36, projected demand is 7.

WaxOnFeckOff · 27/10/2020 20:07

public tableau says 26 per 100k over 7 days

fluffyugg · 27/10/2020 20:08

@WaxOnFeckOff thank you... doesn't seem to fit criteria for tier 2 then? Maybe I'm missing something...

WaxOnFeckOff · 27/10/2020 20:14

I'm the same for Stirlingshire, nothing seems to fit for 3 (surprise surprise), seems to fit 2 or heading to 1. So being told central belt will stay at 3 is either posturing so they can reveal a lesser level on Thursday and we'll all be happy or is just a complete injustice.
