CV in Scotland

(This probably will get moved to the CV topic but thought I'd start one in Scotsnet anyway).

Does anyone have info as to where the Scottish cases are and whether these are 'community gained' or direct exposure from a Cat 1/2 place.

Any thoughts on the impact for our youngsters due to sit SQA exams next month?

My DS is in his highers year. 2 emails from school last week suggesting self isolation for kids returning from Italian holidays in half term but quiet since then.

@mnhq agree with my Scotsnet friends please move this back to the Scotsnet forum we are a little family and want to keep each other company as this situation unfolds.

edgewater · 15/03/2020 20:51

It’s reported that Nicola Sturgeon wants to close the schools for 16 weeks which is the start of the Summer holidays. So it will be 22 weeks in total if it happens.

I was hoping to hide the Coronavirus topic as too much reading about it is affecting my sleep but I can't because I can't work out how to. However, I was hoping to keep up with my CV chat on here!

WeAllHaveWings · 15/03/2020 21:04

I hid it in safari.

Use the wee arrow beside TALK at the top of the page. Then select CUSTOMISE. Then scroll to bottom of screen and there is an option for hiding topics

inselfisolationnow · 15/03/2020 21:09

@edgewater do you have a link?

edgewater · 15/03/2020 21:16

I’m rubbish at links. Sunday Times.

inselfisolationnow · 15/03/2020 21:29

Thank you, found it on google

LizzieMacQueen · 16/03/2020 06:24

@MNHQ

Please put this back in Scotsnet. Like Craicnet we'd like our own thread specific to how this crises relates to our lives in Scotland.

@MNHQ our tiny thread is getting lost in CV. Scotland has devolved powers and is approaching CV very differently from the rest of the UK.

The health secretary in scotland says we will not be following the herd immunity strategy, we wont be isolating 70+ year olds for 4 months, we will be closing schools. It will cause confusion in the Coronavirus topic if we are talking about following different guidelines.

We want a thread our scottish MNs can find and share scottish relevant information without the panic within the CV topic.

Joining you all here, and hoping this is moved back to scotsnet!

We’ve a few cases in Lanarkshire now. Not sure of specific towns though!

Anyone else’s nursery holding an emergency conference with parents today? Got one this afternoon, bit worried about what they’re going to say. The email states it’s about keeping the nursery running but I’ve a child that’s been on steroids twice this winter for respiratory related illnesses and I’m a bit apprehensive about sending them in!

Itsmybirthdaytoday20 · 16/03/2020 07:59

Hi all! Think I’ll need to chat to my boss today about what will happen if I need to stay off for a good while with my kids. This is a bloody nightmare!

weebarra · 16/03/2020 08:00

Hi all. I suppose if it isn't moved back, we can just keep posting to keep it on active.
I'm in Midlothian and on the bus to work in Edinburgh. Roads are quiet by DCs breakfast club is still busy.
I work in education but not directly in schools, our senior management have been good at updating us.

Sorry, everyone, it looks like this thread was moved in error. We're moving it back to Scotsnet now. Flowers

So life is pretty chaotic already. DD's school has closed down for a deep clean because a pupil has tested positive. I can't see DD going back now, though in theory they may re-open in a couple of days.
Went to the supermarket this morning, and 1 of the staff was coughing onto her hand, and then carrying on putting food on the shelves. I mentioned it, but why haven't they had basic hygiene training (even before Coronovirus)? 2nd DD is at boarding school in England, and due to take A'levels in May/June. No-one knows what's happening with that, plus we live in Scotland. We didn't see foresee this situation when making decisions about schools... Looks as though her university plans may be out of the window now. And my business is down the drain as is in tourism.

PineappleDanish · 16/03/2020 15:19

We're still planning on making our trip to Aviemore at the start of the Easter holidays. We're self-catering, and planning on doing outdoors stuff rather than inside stuff. Takeaways rather than eating out. Think the local businesses will appreciate the support and a change of scenery is what I need too.

Itsmybirthdaytoday20 · 16/03/2020 15:47

Will it be up to NS or BJ what happens school wise in Scotland?

Blueberryham · 16/03/2020 15:49

The papers seem to think Scotland and England have a different stance in the school closure. Not sure of the politics though

Itsmybirthdaytoday20 · 16/03/2020 15:52

Nicky might use this as her chance to shine.

Trichford · 16/03/2020 16:05

Hiya

Does anyone know when and what channel Nicola will spark about cobra meeting on? Thanks

Trichford · 16/03/2020 16:05

Speak 🙄

Lidlfix · 16/03/2020 16:39

Dunblane High School reopening tomorrow. I can't say that inspires trust in the depth of the deep clean . Hmm
