So the 6th of August is fast approaching... here is the 2019 thread.

Ds was sitting a mixture of highers and Nat5's. So we'll see what this year brings.

I'm just grateful it's not 2 lots like last year as it was a mare.

DD4 is stressing out so much. She's so young for this. Me, I am wishing I never started a jewellery gift tradition all those years ago for DD1 . Lidlfam brought to you court of Pandora- I don't even like the stuffConfused. So texts at 8 hopefully, brunch at the lovely coffee shop they work at then as per tradition (before free chicken was offered) Nando's for dinner. I might try to dodge that as it will be wall to wall with my pupils and I'm not ready to think about work yet Sad.

WaxOnFeckOff · 04/08/2019 16:41

welcome tava. DS1 wanted to take Chemistry as a crash higher but wasn't allowed. Despite the fact he clearly had a science/maths type mind and plenty of free time on his timetable to catch up. Unfortunately the teacher who approves the choices was a Chemistry teacher and said it wasn't possible. She was also a complete dick in general but we'll not go there.

I'd say make a good argument. If she is good at remembering formulae, has an aptitude for science and maths and is a hard worker/is bright then I think she should be allowed at least to give it a go, but I'm no expert.

WaxOnFeckOff · 04/08/2019 16:42

Could she maybe get one of the study books for Nat 5 and mug up on it a bit before she goes back?

littlebird88 · 04/08/2019 16:45

joining in!
DD1 waitong on Nat 5 results.
sje wprked hard... I think or.seemwd.to so what will be will be.

OOAOML · 04/08/2019 16:47

Good luck everyone. Nat 5 results here so feeling a bit newbie. DD has registered for texts but tells me she won't be up for hours. Seems calm about it - just hoping she scraped through maths and physics.

Sexnotgender · 04/08/2019 16:52

DD is waiting on Nat 5 results. She worked incredibly hard so hope she gets the results she deserves.
Hard not to be anxious as she’s a bit big headed! She thought her prelims went well though and a couple were terrible Confused

I don’t know what to think.

WaxOnFeckOff · 04/08/2019 16:53

No texts here but hoping postie is early. UCAS should be updated before that if I can persuade him to look at it. Does anyone know if you get an email alert from UCAS when your status is updated from a conditional?

Haven't really focused on what to do re meals etc as been more thinking about the birthday stuff for the end of the week.

Could you do Nandos take out lidl and send someone else to collect or use deliveroo?

We did money rather than jewelry but I can't remember what the calculation formula was. He's cost me enough this week already to be honest.

Sexnotgender · 04/08/2019 16:56

To the person asking about transferring to a masters course, I’m sorry I forgot who it was.

I was offered that after my first year results. I did a maths degree. I’m soooo glad I didn’t do it!
It might be different at Strathclyde but where I was in 4th year we picked 7 modules and had our dissertation. I avoided some horrendous looking options! Then I learned if you were on the masters course your 5th year was all the courses you didn’t take in 4th yearConfused
I’d probably have done alright as I got a first class undergraduate degree but boy were there some courses I wouldn’t have wanted to do!

Aurea · 04/08/2019 16:57

Ooh WAX does not mean track could update before 8am?

Aurea · 04/08/2019 16:58

Sorry
does that.......

Alittewornout · 04/08/2019 17:07

Aurea I think it’s more likely you will get the SQA text first but I am no expert. Laughing at you tidying your knicker drawer as the the same thought went through my head but I made a chilli for tomorrow nights dinner. Dd is also bricking it Wicked!
She worked so hard and like all of our dc on this thread deserves to do well. This is my 5th results day you would think I would have developed coping strategies by now!😉

WaxOnFeckOff · 04/08/2019 17:09

Aurea, apparently so, people have said that when they've gone on to UCAS their status was altered by Uni at end of July/beg of August but it's never been clear whether that iis visible to applicants until results day. I've asked DS to check but he is resisting looking - he just says he'll get an email if the status changes.

..and the question re the masters was also me sex, I've told him to go and look at the all the course options for all the choices so hopefully that helps.

Alittewornout · 04/08/2019 17:16

Wax it’s def not visible before the day. Ucas is currently on lockdown I understand until Tuesday for results to be up loaded and unis to make decisions. It will be open until Friday then the same thing happens before A level results are released on the 15th. It only gives a short while for clearing for Scottish applicants but we are def at an advantage over A level students I think.x

WaxOnFeckOff · 04/08/2019 17:37

Ah that's perfect Alittle hopefully he'll either het an email in the morning or I'll persuade him to check as we'll otherwise be waiting on postie. I'll be up and working from 7am so I can take a little time off during the day to deal with anything that needs dealing with.

WaxOnFeckOff · 04/08/2019 17:38

I Kondo'd my underwear last weekend so I'll leave that one to you ladies. :o

Lidlfix · 04/08/2019 17:48

Wax - take away Nando's is a great shout, also prevents me getting stung for pitta, olives etc which I have in the fridge- every little helps and all that.

WaxOnFeckOff · 04/08/2019 18:06

We've had a couple of deliveries from monterey Jack's and they've been pretty good too.

tava63 · 04/08/2019 18:11

Thanks Wax seems like we have had similar experiences. She asked about taking Chemistry this past school year as a crash Higher (after getting 8As and developing an unexpected interest in Medicine as a degree) and the Head of Chemistry told her that if she did it would be "the worst year of your life" . On that advice she opted to postpone taking it until S6 instead. Even knowing it will be a nightmare the Nat5 Chemistry books have remained firmly shut and left to gather dust this summer.

Groovee · 04/08/2019 21:11

Dd got into UCAS at 9am last year and was furious that hers had updated on the 2nd, but that it hadn't shown her until after 9am on the 7th.

OP posts:
WaxOnFeckOff · 04/08/2019 21:17

Thanks Groovee, so we are looking at 9am for UCAS or wait for postie. At least I know where we stand.

dementedpixie · 04/08/2019 21:25

SQA website says:

If you signed up for MySQA you'll get your results from 8 am on 6August. Your certificate will arrive on 6August too. If it doesn't, call your school/college immediately and they can tell you your results.

dementedpixie · 04/08/2019 21:27

Might have to wake dd or try to hack her phone

WaxOnFeckOff · 04/08/2019 21:40

DS2 didn't sign up for text/email so we'll have to wait. 1st year DS1 did, he didn't get any results until afternoon I think and by that time we had the paper ones, seems to have been better since though.

Groovee · 04/08/2019 22:43

We're a year on and Dd is still furious 🤣🤣

Glad it will just be me and ds this year.

Lidlfix · 05/08/2019 12:21

If I hear "this time tomorrow" one more time... Cupcake making with nephews is distracting DD4 and Binge watching Love Island keeping DD3 sane- only just. Going to be a long day .
