Orange Walk

Glasgow city centre ground to a halt today, with most of the streets closed to traffic between 9am and 4pm, so that a bunch of bigots could celebrate a war that happened over 300 years ago. There were loads of tourists in town, taking photos and video of the "parade", not knowing the background. And worse than the marchers, are the hangers-on - many of them drunk and with small children who are waving flags for something they know nothing about. Sometimes I'm ashamed to be Scottish. Angry

That's the racket just going passed my house, I posted earlier in the thread saying that they usually start at the club beside me but I think they will finish there today as I can see 6 double deckers waiting.

I actually can't believe some women are doing the march in heels!

I hope their feet are covered in blisters by the end of it!

Oh jeez! My dogs are pacing the house again, the march must be on its way back now. Hopefully to jump on the buses to another area!

OhFuds · 08/07/2017 14:25

giving it laldy in an orange dress haha 😂

They didn't hang around long down my end as they probably were too excited for the huge Alloa parade!

MrsJayy · 08/07/2017 14:31

Bus loads passed when i was waiting at a bus stop probably on their way to Alloa.

ItsNachoCheese · 08/07/2017 16:18

I ended up going to it as my grandpa wanted to listen to the bands playing. I can confirm lots of the women had heels on and some were pretty high haha

AddictedToDrPepper · 08/07/2017 18:12

FFS they're back banging round my way again. It's 6pm, too hot to close the windows and I don't understand why they need to march all bloody day!!!

ItsNachoCheese · 08/07/2017 18:13

Alloa was finished about 3ish and all roads opened around 4

AddictedToDrPepper · 08/07/2017 18:21

They're back in Airdrie, normally they finish about 4/5 here but I'm guessing it's longer since they were through there. We get the honour of having them march several times throughout the summer months starting in May. Don't understand why they can't stick to one march a year tbh
