Do you think it’s likely to happen?

I am meeting a guy next Monday bank holiday for our 3rd date. He has suggested a wine and cheese evening with a walk near his house. We get on well and text each other a fair bit. Does this mean that sex is likely to happen or am I getting the wrong idea?

Are you interested in sex with him or not?

ThatAquaRobin · 24/08/2026 17:24

Would it be a problem if he has? For me it would be fine on date 3.. you need to know if you're sexually compatible.
Wine implies staying rather than driving, so I would say yes it could mean sex is ok the cards if you both want to

bitontheobtuse · 24/08/2026 17:25

Going to a new date's house in the evening on date 3... copious wine along with the cheese... It is unlikely he's going to want to play Scrabble.

goody2shooz · 24/08/2026 17:25

Well, that’s up to you isn’t? You want to have sex on a third date? You can always say no if you don’t. You don’t have to swap your body for some cheddar and a glass of plonk.
Third date is wine and cheese and a walk - at his. He’s not trying to impress you much is he? How long have you known him/been chatting and texting?

Just make sure its the right cheese

UndoRedo · 24/08/2026 17:40

I like cheese but it would depend on the wine. Anything cheap and no shaggy shaggy

forthelasttim · 24/08/2026 17:43

I know it's because I'm old but I wouldn't be interested in going to his house for cheese and wine, never mind sex, on a third date.

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 24/08/2026 17:45

Is the wine and cheese evening definitely at his house? Be a bit embarassing if you take your toothbrush and it's an organised event at a local vineyard.

AltitudeCheck · 24/08/2026 17:46

I assume the wine and cheese evening is an actual event somewhere not some Babybel and Blue Nun at his place? Like most men, I'm sure he'd be up for sex but remember you have a say in this too! You can have cheese and wine and a walk then kiss him goodnight and hop in a cab home.

ginasevern · 24/08/2026 17:56

Knowing most men yes, I expect he's hoping for a knob cheese and wine evening.

Wine and cheese, yes, that means sex.

If it had been wine and olives, that would have been a blow job.
Port and cheese means anal sex.

Have you asked him about having sex ?

Yes the whole date walking and going by his house it's because he wants to stop at his house and hopefully have a sleepover or at least a shag.
If you want to shag then you go, if you don't suggest something else that doesn't involve houses or beds

ShakyBake · 24/08/2026 21:24

Roughly how heavy is he in Kilos(kg) do you know?

I can work out roughly how many glasses of wine he can drink before being over the limit which may give you an indication of how the night is going. How old is he?

OK, so the last time I was dating was about 20 years ago, and was 24 so nowhere near sophisticated enough to suggest a wine and cheese evening.

But from a mans perspective, yes it sounds to me like he's angling for you to come back to his, and the possibility of sex. I'd expect that at some point during the walk he'll suggest "My house is just round the corner, do you want to come back for a cup of tea?" If he's a decent bloke, then it'll just be a case of seeing where it goes when you get there. If he's a twat, then there'll be pressure and him turning into an arse if you say no.

Personally, I'd suggest you ask him to go for the walk first. It's a lot easier to say "No thanks" when he's inviting you back when you're in the pub rather than on a walk.

If he suggests Rosē and Sushi then ... well probably best to get out of there immediately!

And if he opens the aperitif of Harveys Bristol Cream - just run.

Mydahliasareshit · Yesterday 17:29

If he's got the Bolly chilling on ice then you're good to go!

Surely that's something you need to ask him and not a bunch of strangers on the internet.

Ilovelurchers · Yesterday 17:50

Do you want sex with him?

Have you both discussed sex at all?

If the answer to the first is "yes", and the second "no", it might be worth bringing it up on the date, just to ascertain you both have the same expectations - for example, one of you might feel that sex implies the relationship is now exclusive - but that's not how everyone sees it.

To enjoy good, safe sex, it's important to be able to talk about sex. In my opinion.
