Just feeling so resentful today

Not really a relationships post, more of a vent.
I’m so sick of how dads can just walk away from their children with seemingly no consequences. People tell me I’m “lucky he doesn’t bother”, but honestly… how is that lucky? It really winds me up that it’s seen as so acceptable that I’m expected to be grateful he’s absent.
I know being forced to have contact with someone who doesn’t want it wouldn’t be a good thing, but I can’t help feeling angry that he gets to carry on with his life while I deal with everything. I want him to face some sort of consequences.
It’s going to be a long summer. I won’t get a single break, not even for five minutes, and I’m just fed up that this is my life now while he gets to opt out. Does anyone else ever feel this resentful? Or am I just having one of those days?

*actually churches sometimes do. But of course they have their reasons.

I'm not going to contribute any more because I don't think the OP wants suggestions or solutions which is her right of course. People aren't going to take care of or entertain your kids for free are they?!

This is where I do feel like banging my head against a brick wall.

Is it so wrong to call something out as unjust and unfair and to say this is morally reprehensible, why do we tolerate it as a society, rather than ‘yes, that’s rather bad, but how about a babysitter?’

@Phineyj it isn’t about people taking care of or entertaining your kids. That’s why this thread and threads like it often dissolve into chaos because some posters don’t understand what it’s like being on your own and being on your own for a long period, not a few days when your partner is away or even on holiday (if you do holiday separately as some partners do.)

it really isn’t something ‘solved’ with someone taking your children for a few hours.

It’s really shit OP.

Ds2 dad hasn’t seen him since he was 6 months old and recently found out from a mutual friend he’s moved abroad and training to be a surgeon. 😒

Hasn’t bought as much as a nappy for our ds!

Ds had a tonsillectomy last week and I’ve barely slept. Came out in a load of mouth ulcers as I do when run down and to top it off now have thrush.🙃

I found myself having a snoop of ds dad’s Facebook a few days ago and he’s on a cruise holiday. Wouldn’t change Ds for the world but if I said I don’t feel massively bitter at times, I would be lying.

Worst thing is they can reappear after years of no contact when it suits them. I know one scumbag who barely saw his kid for years and then managed to get 50/50 custody. He used to brag he only did it because the mother finally applied for cms!
