Husband wearing thongs

First of all, I've got no issue with my husband wearing thongs. He's not stealing my underwear or wanting to dress like a woman, he's got thongs designed specifically for men with a pouch at the front - big brands like Diesel and Emporio Armani have made them for a while. They're not lacy or frilly and they look masculine.

The problem is that we've got in-laws coming to stay with us for 3 months (their house had heavy flood damage caused by a leak, and rather than their house insurance putting them up in a hotel for 3 months, we offered to host them as we've got the space).

Our laundry gets hung in the study (which we don't use) as it's a large spacious room with direct sunlight, but it has no door and our in-laws will walk past it to get to their bedroom. There's no other space to hang laundry really, the study is the best place.

I've asked my husband if he can wear boxers/briefs temporarily as it could be embarrassing to see all his thongs up drying when we have guests staying, but he doesn't see the big deal and is like, "It's just underwear, I don't care if they find out I wear thongs?"

Would you be comfortable with this? I honestly don't mind him wearing thongs but wouldn't want him to be teased over it if in-laws found out. I'm more trying to protect him really, but he doesn't see the big deal and doesn't care if they find out.

Anyone else seeing MN adverts for thongs flashing up on this page? 😂

Gloriia · 26/08/2025 17:20

'Oh gawd, I couldn't fancy a guy that wore thongs. It's all a bit too feminine for me. And the question is WHY?'

He maybe likes the intimate chafing? It's the only reason I can think of for a bloke. Women tend to wear them to avoid a VPL but men don't get that with boxers.

VIOLETPUGH · 26/08/2025 17:20

Sorry but this had be LOL how can any thong on a man be masculine ??

smallglassbottle · 26/08/2025 17:21

Thongs are eww. I'd get the ick so fast things would seal up 🫣🤢

I really really hate the MN adage - imagine if this was reversed, a man saying this to a woman.

But in this situation, I think it actually applies.

Imagine if your parents were coming to stay. And your husband asked you to wear a different type of knickers for a while because having your undercrackers on display "could be embarrassing"....

You've just reminded me of how much I love the word undercrackers

sittingonabeach · 26/08/2025 17:29

I assume they can see yours too if all underwear is hanging there. Are you going to see theirs as well

ginasevern · 26/08/2025 17:30

This would give me the ick and I must admit I wouldn't really relish them being on display with other people in the house. But why on earth did you offer to put your in laws up for 3 whole months when they courtesy hotel accommodation available!

Tiredandtiredagain · 26/08/2025 14:50

They’re his parents, they won’t care!

I have five sons. If I went to one of their houses and realized they wore thongs, I would get the willys. I know it is none of my business but I would really prefer not to know.

SmurfnoffIce · 26/08/2025 17:31

Though have you thought about making a flag from a thong?

A flong?

SmurfnoffIce · 26/08/2025 17:32

Why does he wear thongs???

To paraphrase Billie Piper - because he wants to, because he wants to?

BauhausOfEliott · 26/08/2025 17:34

Oh come on! It's a pair of pants, not a strap-on dildo. This is a non-issue.

Delphiniumandlupins · 26/08/2025 17:36

OP says they both wear thongs. I don't fancy them but can't really see why men's thongs are less acceptable than women's. If DH isn't bothered about his parents seeing his (very) smalls then I don't think his wife needs to be.

Missey85 · 26/08/2025 17:37

I'm Australian and thought you meant shoes! 😂😂😂

FullOfLemons · 26/08/2025 17:38

I am sure his parents won’t be shocked by a thong.

They will probably have seen men wearing budgie smugglers in the 1970s or have been on holiday to France

If your DH looks as hot as you claim in a thong, then why not dry them outdoors and see if any the neighbours try to flip him ?

He’s a grown man who knows where laundry gets dried.

Why are you bothering yourself with this?

I also don’t understand why, if they both wear thongs, she’s so worried that her in-laws will immediately know her husband wears them by briefly (if you’ll pardon the pun) walking past the washing drying in an open room? Granted, I’d know the difference between a man’s thong and a woman’s close up, but they’re not going to be studying the laundry in great detail, are they?

Tell me these aren't masculine? Why can women only wear sexy undies - they make my DH feel confident and sexy, I love that about him!

That's a good point, I've got many of the same brands. I'm probably overthinking it!

Convenience - I've stayed in a hotel for 3 months before and it drives you absolutely crazy.

Fair enough but it's not very convenient for you, especially given the undercrackers situation.

Right but what if they see the thongs and assume they belong to the OP, and THEN notice there is a space for the penis. The in-laws may start to suspect that the OP is a man.

HelpMeGetThrough · 26/08/2025 17:53

Microfibre thongs, good for polishing the car on a Sunday morning.

Few things would give me more of an ick than a man coming into my bedroom wearing a thong. I don't know whether I'd laugh or cry.

I wouldn't want his family to see his thongs because I wouldn't want to see the pity on their faces as they realised what I had to put up with.

This 😂

How can you be OK with your husband wearing thongs?!? Ick

Delphiniumandlupins · 26/08/2025 18:06

Anybody else resisting checking the OP's links? I'm not thinking ick, and I like a sexy man, but don't want to influence my algorithms.
