Would you date someone who put 'Right' as their political affiliation on dating app?

As title states. I don't think I would care as I didn't bother voting. But I HATE this government.

Yes

DorisDoesDoncaster · 16/05/2024 21:38

The current government is not “right”

JingsMahBucket · 16/05/2024 21:39

Nope, never. It’s a fundamental difference in the outlook of life and how to treat people.

Withswitch · 16/05/2024 21:40

Nope. You'd have some ok conversations and they'd he would slip in some dig about people in boats and I'd have to walk away. Not worth it.

HappyEater · 16/05/2024 21:40

Well, they wouldn’t likely want to date you either so putting it on their profile is smart; saves wasted time.

This made me chuckle!

I put down apolitical . It's not that I wouldn't date them. it's that I just dont like the government we have right at this moment.

If you hate this government, why didn't you vote?

Workawayxx · 16/05/2024 21:43

No, our views would be so opposed on really fundamental issues and values that there would be no “agree to disagree” possible. I would feel grateful that they’d been upfront and could be ruled out at an early stage.

because WHO would I vote for? I hate them all. The green lady seems nice but it's a wasted vote because no one votes for them

Under that last “left” government VAT was 17.5% (now 20%), the top rate of income tax was 40% (now 45%), if you had to rent out your home whilst needing to rent another place to do your job you could deduct the mortgage interest - now you can’t so you get taxed on fake profits. Stamp duty was a lot lower, so was capital gains. Everyone also got a personal tax free allowance - now not everyone does.

And yet people wonder why so many previous taxpayers are leaving the country or taking early retirement …

CharlieDickens · 16/05/2024 21:45

I would want to know how far right.

Teacherprebaby · 16/05/2024 21:45

ABSOLUTELY NOT!

This, it always makes me laugh that those on the left (who always say how kind and accepting they are..) seem to think others are so desperate to date them and the rejection can only come from them!

gretgret · 16/05/2024 21:50

If they specifically put 'right', I imagine they are too 'right'.

I wouldn't.

Mrsknowitall · 16/05/2024 21:50

I would but then again I am also right, if I saw a profile and they stated left I would probably swipe

Churchview · 16/05/2024 21:52

I probably would if all else looked good. I am left leaning and will vote Labour at the next election, but have several really good friends who are definitely right leaning. We don't agree on everything, but we never row about it and get on really well.

Well they never will get anywhere if their supporters waste their votes by not bothering to turn out.

At least some numbers show there's support for their policies, which could influence other parties.

Noname1000 · 16/05/2024 22:00

Nope.

Exactly. He’s put it on his profile for a reason, to weed out lefties.

BeaRF75 · 16/05/2024 22:04

Actually, OP, the Conservatives are currently struggling because many of their traditional voters think they have moved too far to the left.
But I wouldn't judge someone for how they vote. We are a democracy and are all allowed a choice. Plus, people do change their minds!
I would struggle with someone who didn't respect that my views may differ from theirs. It's OK to have a debate, but it's also OK to agree to differ.

Sensible man, I wouldn’t waste my time on a Leftie either

WestSussexWitch · 16/05/2024 22:07

NO!

category12 · 16/05/2024 22:08

And if I saw 'right' on someone's profile, I would move onto the next.

It's possible I'd give someone with different political opinions a try if I met them in real life, liked them and they were good-natured about differences, but at the swiping stage they wouldn't make the cut.

Perfectlystill · 16/05/2024 22:09

Yes
