Can you identify this mystery sock?

Just found under our bed. Not mine, looks too small to be his. I have done the laundry enough times to know his sock collection inside out and this is a rogue one. Thick sock, mens or womens? Anyone recognise it? Feeling very freaked out.

Can you identify this mystery sock?

No-one.
But someone rushing to dress and pick up their stuff and shove things in a bag/jeans pockets could only pick up one sock and not notice the other is missing.

why wouldn’t they be putting their sock on rather than packing it?

Depends how much they're panicking and how much time they've got.

Qwertyyui · 09/11/2023 18:54

Or they want to leave signs they were there so the Mrs 'accidently' finds out about them thus ending the relationship hopefully and consoling the other person and getting their prize!

Surely you would leave something sexier than a granny sock.

Qwertyyui · 09/11/2023 19:20

I mean that's easier to forget than knickers? She might not be a sexy lady? She might want deniable plausibility? I dunno!

yhk · 09/11/2023 19:55

A long time ago when an ex and I split (amicably, no hard feelings) they left a sock behind by mistake when they moved out.

I was gutted at the time and missed them terribly. I found the sock a couple of months later and couldn't bring myself to throw it away, so I put it in the back of a closet that I very rarely used and forgot about it. I found it a couple of years later when spring cleaning and finally chucked it!

Maybe something similar?

How very puzzling !

I think if your partner was up to no good I doubt he would do it in the house. I mainly think this because you say he doesn’t have the house to himself very often, it would take serious BALLS + planning and knowing exactly where you were without a doubt that you’d come home..not to mention a serious amount of audacity to chance having someone over. Is it possible it’s come back from the gym in one of your bags,? Have you had any stuff service washed at the laundrette? Bought anything off vinted? (I once got an unexpected complimentary half used tube of verruca cream in a handbag I bought! Have YOU stayed out? Accidentally picked up someone’s sock? I’ve done it myself..

Personally if you do suspect it’s some other woman’s I would leave it somewhere he will find it, within the bedroom area, don’t tell him just seen if it disappears/goes in wash/also baffles him.

Thats just me.

True unless I suppose you heard a car pulling up outside and had to make a quick exit. But this is EastEnders stuff - I’d assume very rare irl.

And to the poster asking if he’s Bi?!! i’ve heard it all now!

I know somebody who arrived home to find her husband in bed with another man. The poor woman had no idea obviously and took many years (almost 20!) before she got into another relationship.

It also happened to my friend!’s work colleague. She went home early to pick something up that she had forgotten and found her recently married husband with another man.

I don’t have a big network of friends and if I’ve heard of this twice, I suspect it isn’t as unusual as some might think.
