Marks on his penis

I am in a long distance relationship. My boyfriend has admitted to masturbation when I am not there. The other day I saw him and noticed he had some red scratch marks and a small chunk of skin missing on the outer skin of his penis. Is this normal after masturbation? I hadn't caused those marks.

It has made me paranoid in case another woman has done this. He did catch up with a female friend of his not long ago at her home which he claims he has never fancied her. She lives with her ex partner but I don't know if he was there when my boyfriend went round.

Ah yes it’s likely it could be a herpes lesion. They can look exactly like a little bit of skin is missing. No point you getting tested unless you’ve got a lesion as they need to take a swap from the lesion. You can have it for years and no flare ups then get a flare, so doesn’t mean he’s been cheating, but he does need to not have sex when he’s got a flare up, or use a condom if it’s in a place that can be 100% covered. Might be worth just being honest and say look I noticed you had a little lesion on your penis, do you know what it is? Then encourage him to get tested during the next flare (if it is indeed herpes) and tell him he should tell you if he’s got a lesion so you can ensure you’re protected
