Shaving

forwhatitsworth22 · 25/01/2023 19:55

My hubby has asked if I would consider shaving, all off, smooth. I keep myself trimmed and tidy. I have a question which may be silly but how do I shave and see what I'm doing? Do I use a normal razor and shaving gel? I know these sound like silly questions but I don't wanna give myself a nasty cut etc.

I have an old fashioned 70s want bush, ladies. I don't care what the trend is. Short back and sides is how I keep it, but it makes me sore if I cut it too short underneath so I just don't anymore. I don't care what men say.

Aha, a new page, so every new reader can see thaT I HAVE A MASSIVE BUSH!

I once tried waxing my bikini line myself.

Do not do this. Legs are fine, but not bikini line. Salons exist for a reason.

(It softens and can be washed off in a warm bath.)

I suspect that's what the wild bush brigade is truly worried about.

If other women aren't going all wild bush, then their men might have their true preference out there some day.

Soo best to vilify those that shave And hope hubby begins to accept wild bush as the new normal

@StalkedByASpider so us women who prefer being hairless are under some patriarchal spell? We’ve been unknowingly tricked into liking it this way by society?

How enlightening!

Even if I was a nun or on a remote island, I’d never grow my pubic hair back. Well, thanks to laser, I can’t anyway. I….don’t….like….it. Why can’t the bush brigade just accept some women don’t like hair down there because it is just what we prefer? We’re not all trying to impress men all the time or pretending to be prepubescent. We just don’t want hair down there!

And as for porn, there’s such a variety, not all females and males in porn have evicted their pubes. I see more landing strips on females in porn than completely bald.

But of course, those of us who prefer little to no hair are ‘pick me’ prepubescent wannabes who only think we prefer this hairstyle because the patriarchy tricked us 🙄

StarlightLady · 27/01/2023 06:19

@Aussiegirl123456 - precisely. It is not all about men or for men.

Are lesbians who opt to remove pubic hair (they do exist), doing it for men?

mildlydispeptic · 27/01/2023 06:41

My 2c worth: (2) laser is great, highly recommended but better not to permanently depilate the whole area, because in old age as everything sags you may be grateful for a bit of coverage (!) and (2) if you wax you could ask them to leave a small strip in front, and DH could shave that bit.

Aussiegirl123456 · 27/01/2023 08:06

You know hair can fall out in old age!

MermaidEyes · 27/01/2023 08:55

Completely agree with @Aussiegirl123456

Those without hair don't give a shit what others do, yet those with hair somehow feel affronted

Not all. I don't care who shaves. What I care about is people spouting the bullshit that I am somehow unclean for not shaving.

StarlightLady · 27/01/2023 10:12

@OrlandointheWilderness - l drop mine off for a smear and a service every so often, but l’m pleased when she is re-attached to me! 😂

😂 @StarlightLady does she get an oil change and her filters done?!

Since the dawn of time women have just been hairy. Now we have internet porn, men start asking women to conform to porn standards and some women comply.

Rubbish!

Some women in porn have hair.

Ancient Egyptians and Ancient Romans are believed (from drawings and literature) to have been completely shaven pubic hair.

Some women aren’t complying because they’re trying to please a man, because ffs it’s 2023 and women aren’t all trying to exist for the male gaze. some women just prefer being hairless.

Jeez

I'm a lesbian and most of the women I've slept with opt to shave or wax. It makes giving oral a bit easier and more enjoyable when receiving due to increased range of sensations possible. Obviously of course we are not doing that for men!

Thank you!

My god, why do some women think everything any other woman does is to please men? Is that how they live? I don’t give a monkeys what any man thinks, other than my DH. I didn’t even consider his preference when I opted for laser. I did it for me. I’m sure he’d be just as delighted if I had a giant bush. I actually don’t even know, nor care what his preference is.

And the whole porn thing. It really is 50-50 these days with hair or no hair down there.

Have a bush or don’t have a bush, who really cares. But please stop telling those of us who don’t like to be hairy that were under some patriarchal hypnotism or trying to relive our prepubescent childhood or coerced by society into being hair free against our free will. If o never saw another man for as long as I live, I’d still choose minimal hair. My preference.

AlexaAdventuress · 27/01/2023 12:58

I know it's customary to blame pornography, but don't forget there's a massive amount of mainstream media directed at women that focusses on body hair removal too. If you Google a phrase like 'Brazilian bikini wax' you get a whole lot of stuff on online platforms, the websites of major women's magazines, adverts for businesses offering the service and the like. Even if the authors conclude that they don't much like it, all this coverage increases the visibility of intimate hair removal and puts it on the agenda. There seems to be a much more pervasive cultural preoccupation with body hair removal.

Porn didn't always celebrate the hairless body. Some years ago when I was doing up an old house we found the porn stash of a previous owner. There were copies of 'Fiesta' magazine, priced at three and sixpence and all the women had big triangular public hair, and big triangular knickers to put it in. That's just anecdotal evidence of course, but it seemed to me to be a sign of the times.

SquashPenguin · 27/01/2023 13:04

I had all mine lasered off and I use my epilator for the stragglers that survived. Hurts like hell but Christ it’s smooth 😆

AlexaAdventuress · 27/01/2023 15:02

Oh, I forgot about the initial question. I think the main thing is to try different things as everyone's skin is different. I've been shaved for just over 20 years, apart from a brief period a decade ago when I was very depressed and let it grow for a few months. I wasn't feeling myself, said she without a trace of innuendo. I know a lot of people say don't use ordinary soap, but a Dove soap bar works very well for me. I also tend to shave sideways to the direction of hair growth, which seems to provide smoothness but minimise the risk of soreness.

No they haven't. Pubes were sometimes shaved off as a way of controlling lice. (Pubic lice are now becoming endangered because of the fashion for depilation.)

I have a book originally printed in the 1920s (my edition is Wordsworth Classic Erotica from the 1990s,) where they have a shaving session. I particularly remember it, because the thought of having an old-fashioned cut-throat razor round my parts was more terrorising than arousing...

But some people have always shaved. We just have more options for how to remove hair these days, including not doing so, if that's your choice.

LittleLantern123 · 27/01/2023 15:47

Definitely in the no bush camp but please, for the love of minge, PUT THE RAZOR DOWN!!!
Honestly wax or epilate it. Those few minutes of discomfort are so much more bearable than itchy regrowth and stubble rash.
If you don't like it after your first wax it will be back to normal within weeks anyway.....probably as long as the itching will last after using a razor 🤣

This isn’t true.

The cultural history of pubic hair

getmaude.com/blogs/themaudern/cultural-history-of-pubic-hair

I shave it all off with a razor. I have done for years. I’m blonde and there was never much there anyway.

Once your body gets used to it, it doesn’t itch or get rashy and sore. Like men’s faces don’t I suppose.
