Rude "famous people"

We have a famous designer at my kid's school, born to a very wealthy family. Her kids are nice
She can be very unfriendly but inconsistently so - will often blank people one day and be friendly the next. Acts quite haughtily with the teachers. At times very abrupt.
She doesn't have to be friends with us civilians - that I fully understand. But what's with the rude behaviour? What's going on there? The school mums are a pretty innocuous bunch and I'd like to think we are friendly and welcoming.

@VanGoghsDog

A current member of the cabinet who is rocketing upwards is one of the worst people I've ever had the misfortune to meet. Utterly self obsessed.

That could be any number of people!!

Yes, sadly it could be. This one was rude, dismissive and despite the best education money could buy appeared unable/unwilling to grasp basic scientific concepts.
Marineboy67 · 09/10/2021 22:12

Simon Lebon told us to fuck off when we asked for his autograph on the Kings Road....twat

DanceWithYourBalloon · 09/10/2021 22:13

A relative if mine said that Delia Smith was a bit rude. I don't want to believe it.

I'm met Nick Baker from the Really Wild Show at a kids event and he looked like he didn't want any of them within 50ft of him. Grin

I went to sit down on a train empty seat opposite what turned out to be that Butcher from Coronation St " ah say Ashley ah say Ashley " showing my age here He asked me if I'd mind moving over to another seat

I was so shocked I actually did it
Wouldn't happen today 🤨

Marguerite2000 · 09/10/2021 22:18

Cilla Black was the gold standard for rude celebs. Don't know what she was like at her kid's school though (if she went there herself).

@Walkingthedog46

New job on Reception - man comes in (who turned out to be a famous author, but I didn’t know who he was at the time). He just said ‘I’m expected’. When I said ‘what name is it please?’ He replied ‘don’t get funny with me, dear’. The person he had come to see appeared at that moment and took him off, so I had to ask a colleague who the hell that was.
I would love to know who that was!
TractorAndHeadphones · 09/10/2021 22:19

Maybe she's just very moody...?

nerysw · 09/10/2021 22:20

@Mrsjayy

Is it Laurence Llewelyn Bowen

Bet he's dead flouncey Grin

Op perhaps she doesn't want to be your friend so says hi now and again or perhaps you are all a bit intimidating standing in a big group so they stay clear. You maybe just need to admit defeat say hello and leave it as it is.

I spent a whole day with Laurence Llewelyn Bowen and another celeb for work reasons. It was the hottest day of the year, they'd had a bit of a disaster on the TV show they were filming and he was lovely. I thought he might be flouncy and a bit annoying but he was actually very considerate, thoughtful and actually interested in my job and where I work.
Toseland · 09/10/2021 22:20

Muriel Gray snapped viciously at me when I had just started my first job and had to take her tea - it was such a shame as I’d always thought she was really cool.

I was at school with him. He was rather shy.
doadeer · 09/10/2021 22:21

My cabbie the other week said Alexander Armstrong was VILE. Drunk and swearing at him.
I met him once at a work thing but not long enough to form an opinion.

GinUnicorn · 09/10/2021 22:24

I don’t know many horrible ones. I will say Victoria Beckham was absolutely lovely. Met her a few times due to work and was nervous as I assumed she would be awful.

Why do people leave unnecessarily comments to block up this thread with their irrelevant opinions which have nothing to do with the title. GO AWAY

Tammer Hassan told my friends brother to “fuck off” when he asked for a photo he was only 15yrs old.

@ohthestruggles

Apparently Alison Hammond is really up herself and demanding. A friend met her whilst on holiday once.
I worked with her on a project and she was absolutely lovely, just for a different perspective. Really, genuinely a laugh and made the effort to remember everyone's names, speak to people individually etc. I know that all sounds like basic stuff (as it should) but it's very lacking with celebs so is appreciated.

Nicest ever were The Saturdays - just absolutely LOVELY. Brilliant with kids, went above and beyond to make their days.

Pixxie7 · 09/10/2021 22:25

I think a lot of famous people think they are special I think the problem is they only have to appear on the tv and they think they are celebrities. I don’t think we meet the real celebrities.

acornfed · 09/10/2021 22:25

@TractorAndHeadphones

Yes perhaps. It just doesn't seem normal to be very moody. Most people I know try and hide it to some extent at school. Ours kids are good friends with each other's . It's not as if we are strangers? ! I just can't fathom not being basically polite even if I was in a bad mood. But perhaps when you have grown up in fabulous wealth this is tolerated? !

Holy crap! If you were a celeb you would definitely warrant a mention
HollowTalk · 09/10/2021 22:27

@Elderflower14 I've met Martina Cole several times and have had long conversations with her. She's absolutely great. I've never known her to supply her own questions. I imagine she does get sick of being asked the same things time after time.

youvegottenminuteslynn · 09/10/2021 22:28

I had a stand up row with Vanessa Feltz at a work event I was managing once. The epitome of do you know who I am? "Yes, you're Vanessa Feltz". Then 'I want to speak to whoever is managing the event.' "You already are, it's me." Asked her to please speak calmly as there were kids around and she was making people uncomfortable as well as being aggressive. Aaaargh she was honestly insufferable and I try to never say anything negative about people I've worked with / come across at events (I'm a PR) but it was unbelievable!

@wheresmyshoe

A current member of the cabinet who is rocketing upwards is one of the worst people I've ever had the misfortune to meet. Utterly self obsessed. A literary couple who preach environmentalism but fly abroad regularly and have two substantial houses and two gas guzzling cars, they also tell everyone they should be vegetarian when they themselves are not. An actor famous in the 60/70's who was bloody awful to work for. Divide and rule amongst her staff.
Bet the cabinet one is Anne-Marie Trevelyan.

Ooh same! Super dry sense of humour. Wicked, actually, but not in a mean way just a naturally funny person.
Hubblebubble100 · 09/10/2021 22:29

I saw Ronaldo coming off the United bus just before he moved to Real Madrid.

There was just me and a father with a young son, guessing about 9 years old, standing by the hotel as it was heavily raining (I had just chanced upon the bus but the father and son were soaked so could tell they’d been waiting for a long time).

Ronaldo was the last to get off the bus and the father said “Ronaldo please can we have an autograph?”

Ronaldo just stared at the man, who again repeated the request. He stared again, then turned and marched off. It seemed so cold as there was virtually no one else around and it was a clear snub to the father and son. Poor kid looked heartbroken.

One that amazes me is Marcus Rashford, I’ve met him many times and as a Man Utd fan who goes to every game, it pains me to say it that I wish I had never met him.

He has an amazing pr machine, and is a great actor in front of a camera. As soon as the camera is off he is a very different person in my many experiences with him, I know a lot of his close contacts and they all feel exactly the same way as me.
