I was one of these children. IMMENSE TRIGGER WARNING

Please do not watch this if you've experienced abuse and can't watch it or feel triggered about it or if you can't stand watching violence against children.

nypost.com/2021/01/28/disturbing-video-shows-man-abusing-sons-in-bronx-train-station/?utm_campaign=SocialFlow&utm_source=NYPFacebook&sr_share=facebook&utm_medium=SocialFlow&fbclid=IwAR2KRCSmVJWaen_-YRf3esd9q-PLbQOg9M0tVpdDfTTda-vKSbkPObqZrIM

This video shows a father abusing his 7 and 9 year old sons. In public.

I can tell you that I have experienced similar, daily. The worrying thing is that the man still lives with his children and family.

I can't tell you the long-lasting effects of ongoing daily abuse like this. Life threatening abuse, though you survive the beatings. When you grow up, those memories haunt you. You probably rely on drink or drugs.

To women who abuse, or who have husbands (or grandmothers as in the case of one thread today). Please. Please don't. Please stop it!

Clearly I wasn't actually one of the children, but I was the younger one and my hair was what my mother always went for.
The abuse can last all of your waking hours.

I sometimes think that people who have never experienced abuse, have no idea what it might look like. A raised voice? A slap? No. That's not what it looks like. What this video shows IS what it looks like. Repeat all day long.

Most of the drug addicts on our streets have been abused as children it’s heartbreaking.

HulahoopsBBQbeef · 28/01/2021 20:35

I’m honestly so disturbed watching this. I just don’t know how people could just walk past and do nothing. And those poor terrified children!

Asthesayinggoes · 28/01/2021 20:37

@Sunsun21

Most of the drug addicts on our streets have been abused as children it’s heartbreaking.
And most MNers would rather say 'sorry, I've no money' than to help them - because yaknow, they're feeding a drug culture or something. I know it's hard to watch, but I relive similar memories all day long every single day. Nightmares, depression, suicide attempts.

That is one of the most upsetting things I have ever seen, and I’ve seen stuff. Hope you are ok OP.

Asthesayinggoes · 28/01/2021 20:38

@HulahoopsBBQbeef

I’m honestly so disturbed watching this. I just don’t know how people could just walk past and do nothing. And those poor terrified children!
My neighbours could hear us screaming day and night but 'it wasn't the done thing' to report it.

I know.
I have been having nightmares about my childhood this week. I don't know why, maybe because I have been shielding for so long and my anxiety is high. So many adults knew, and did nothing. I am in my 60s now and it has never left me.

The man filmed this and reported it and that utter bastard of an evil prick, still lives with those little innocents.

OP posts:
bushhbb · 28/01/2021 20:41

Who in the fuck punches their child, let alone in broad daylight!

This is sickening, imagine when they get home. The absolute terror these poor kids feel.

FloconDeNeige · 28/01/2021 20:42

I once saw a man kicking a dog at a train station in Birmingham. I intervened and told him to stop and got punched in the face for my efforts. These days I’d look for/call the police from a distance.

At least the incident was filmed and it’s being investigated by the police; hopefully some definitive action will be taken.

Suzi888 · 28/01/2021 20:43

I haven’t watched the link, but if I saw any abuse or lived next door to it, I’d report it.

I’m so sorry for what you have suffered and I’m sorry no one helped you or your siblings.

Asthesayinggoes · 28/01/2021 20:44

It has been investigated, he's back in the house, he has also since been 'physical' with his family and still lives there!

I didn't watch the video. The text was bad enough. Poor boys i hope every child and adult find peace from their childhood abuse.

Lovemusic33 · 28/01/2021 20:48

That’s awful. Who was filming it as it doesn’t look like cctv as it zooms in? I couldn’t walk past and not do anything 😢

There’s a house down the road from me where people come and go (not as much at the moment) for drugs, in the summer they have parties which often end in violence, they have young kids in there. I have reported it several times and nothing has happened, police turn up often but again nothing is done. I have seen her 18months old outside being supervised by their 5 year old several times.

People do report things more now but fuck all is done until it’s too late Sad.

FloconDeNeige · 28/01/2021 20:49

No it says the children are in their mother’s custody now.

cheesebubble · 28/01/2021 20:50

I don't even want to watch it, I've grown up so cocooned, never experienced abuse from my parents, not even verbally I would say. I wish all children and adults were spared from any violence, abuse in any form, no innocent child deserves it.

I am really sorry you grew up in an abusive household OP and what you are still experiencing because of this. Have you tried to seek help to deal with this in adulthood?

Asthesayinggoes · 28/01/2021 20:51

I live above a flat where a family lives. For the first year here I could hear them beating their daughter. I reported to the police every time. Now they don't seem to beat her.

Op I can relate. Flowers I didn’t watch the video because I can’t handle it but I had a terrible childhood with my Mum who had schizophrenia and alcohol issues. She was sectioned many times and I went into foster care a few times (which was wonderful) but I always went back. She would shout at me, hit me, throw me down stairs, forget to feed me, threaten me etc etc. As she got older she “forgot” all of this and thought she was the most wonderful mum in the world. She died in 2019 and the relief was immense. I still shut my eyes and see her shouting at me.

Reading “Tortured” by Victoria Spry was very healing for me. Sadly she committed suicide but her story really resonated with me and I felt oddly not so alone reading it.

famedThesaurusofTheforgotten · 28/01/2021 20:53

That’s awful 😞

Asthesayinggoes · 28/01/2021 20:54

The man had not been charged as of late Thursday morning.

Police confirmed the same man was arrested Saturday for allegedly being “physical with his family” — and subsequently released.

OP posts:
studychick81 · 28/01/2021 20:54

Really upsetting. They look terrified and why the hell have they not been removed. I wonder he's saying to them? It starts out of nowhere.

Asthesayinggoes · 28/01/2021 20:55

I just wish that some people could know what abuse really looks like.

OP posts:
Vtech · 28/01/2021 20:56

If he’s willing to do that in public, imagine what goes on behind closed doors. It’s unbearable. I can’t understand why he hasn’t been charged yet.

tigerlily20 · 28/01/2021 20:57

If he does that in public what does he do to them behind closed doors? My god, if they can't arrest him and keep him away from those kids then I hope he fucking dies and they can find peace. Must be living hell. heartbroken.
