How often do you wash?

Basically this. I shower everyday and my DP hasn’t washed since Tuesday, and regularly goes days without washing. Is this normal?

As previously mentioned by a PP, not washing can be a sign of depression. Although if you are TOO clean, that could affect your immune system?

Calmate · 17/10/2020 16:18

P.S. I agree with what Aquamarine 1029 said, eg, a 3 minute shower, that's not going to hurt, and better for the environent too !!
If you are in a job where you hear a lot of politically correct BS, you have to wash it all off when you return home !!

Pyewhacket · 17/10/2020 16:23

I shower twice a day .

Pixiemeat · 17/10/2020 20:31

Every day unless I’m battling depression. Like a previous poster said, it’s one of the first things to go when my mental health is not good

Same here

Lovemusic33 · 17/10/2020 20:37

Every day, might skip a day if I’m camping 🤣

I dated someone who showered a couple times a week 🤢, not something I could put up with.

Peace43 · 17/10/2020 20:51

I shower a minimum of every other day. I clean my teeth twice a day, wash my hands regularly. If my boyfriend is heading over I shower prior to any potential hanky panky (even if I already showered that morning).

LyingDogsLie1 · 17/10/2020 20:53

Shower everyday. IMO adults should. You could be forgiven the odd day but not multiple days.

Northernsoullover · 17/10/2020 20:59

Every day unless I'm at home all weekend. I showered today and might not tomorrow. I usually regret it around lunchtime though as I start to feel grim.
However I would never bed share without showering and won't allow my partner in my bed without a shower either.

SoulofanAggron · 17/10/2020 21:09

Eww! You must have words with him.

I have to wash every morning. If I try to wash before bed like other people instead, my pum pum is too fragrant for me to go out in public the next day.

I also find a wash is good for my mental health- if I'm just slobbing round the house I don't feel as good. As soon as I finally jump in and out of the bath I feel more alert and together.

Did no one get the memo that we are ten years from extinction?

Riv12345 · 17/10/2020 21:29

Argh!!!

I bet his bum crack stinks 🤮🤮

@MactheRover Your point being?

P.S, Nope.

SoulofanAggron · 17/10/2020 21:55

As in, no we're not. Grin

So I'll do whatever, thanks.

Whatsmyname88 · 17/10/2020 22:03

@Raidblunner yours made me giggle.

Dillo10 · 17/10/2020 22:46

Every other day otherwise my eczema flares up. If I've been rushing around and I notice I'm a bit sweaty or grimy, then I will wash myself with a flannel and warm water but have to avoid hot baths and showers too often :(

noseresearch · 17/10/2020 23:58

Dillo10 I have a history of severe eczema, and I previously showered once every other day but I can now manage daily showers without any extra dryness. As long as I keep them under 10 minutes, use cool water, and moisturise my damp skin immediately after coming out the shower (I don’t waste time drying my skin first)
Also, I don’t use any surfactant based cleansers on my skin except for sweaty areas, instead I use emollient washes

Apologies if these are tips you have already tried (I know how frustrating it is getting unsolicited advice which you’ve already tried) - but as someone with severe eczema I underestimated how effective such small tips could be. Plus, some dermatologists often say bathing daily (as long as you follow tips above, and seal in moisture after) can be beneficial as it adds moisture back in the skin and reduces the amount of staphylococcus aureus on the skin. Staph is correlated with the severity of eczema

Morning shower for me and for DH

gurteee · 18/10/2020 03:54

@Adsy1988

So it’s a general consensus that you should wash more than a couple of days a week.

No signs of depression and nothing out of the ordinary, I just think that lockdown and WFH has made the necessity of a shower not as big a deal as it previously was, to DP anyway.

How can I approach this without DP taking massive offence?

He should have more respect for you OP. Working from home no excuse. He doesn't live alone!

Op's DH will never be ex-stinked unless he showers! 😂
Justifiedandquiteold · 18/10/2020 03:57

Shower every morning before work, bath or shower or good top and tail at night before bed. DH always has a shower in morning and has a bath or shower straight after work as he works in a job that makes him very mucky. Your DP is being a grotbag. Is it a new thing or has he always been like this. If it's new behaviour, he could be depressed

Wiredforsound · 18/10/2020 04:34

Eww, I don’t know how you cope with the stench. My DP showers every day. He would completely honk if he didn’t for 4 days.

lunalulu · 18/10/2020 04:57

Shower am
Bath pm

Every day

HappyDinosaur · 18/10/2020 05:32

Sink wash everyday, but shower or bath every other day.

Hangingover · 18/10/2020 05:43

Boooooak. I'm a slattern in many many ways but always shower every morning UNLESS planning on doing a spring clean of the house/grubby DIY (in which case shower in evening) or going surfing later on. Always shower after surfing or gym too.
