How often do you wash?

Basically this. I shower everyday and my DP hasn’t washed since Tuesday, and regularly goes days without washing. Is this normal?

Everyday as standard, sometimes twice. Occasionally might skop a day if i showered the night before

But since tuesday is grim

BetterEatCheese · 16/10/2020 22:47

Everyday pretty much, sometimes shower goes a day between but I don't feel great. Dd showers every other day

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 16/10/2020 22:48

We all have a shower or a bath at least once a day, in hot weather or after exercise/mucky jobs twice. Dh prefers a bath to a shower, I'm the opposite. The only exception is dc5(3) who has eczema, we try & do every other day with him because it's easier on his skin but as he's 3 & a muck magnet that doesn't always work out. I'd find anything less than every other day off putting.

Sarahlou63 · 16/10/2020 22:50

I shower every hour, it's important to stay fresh. I also boil wash all my bed linen, towels, tea towels, curtains and entire wardrobe twice a day. If you do less than this you're a skank.

BlueJava · 16/10/2020 22:50

I shower daily at least each morning. DP showers daily in the morning then either shower or bath at night.

pepperwood · 16/10/2020 22:53

Pretty much every day. An exception would be the odd weekend day when I'm not going anywhere but not often,
I like to feel fresh even if I'm just putting clean pyjamas on afterwards.

LomasLongstrider · 16/10/2020 22:53

I have a shower every morning time and hot water permitting, and at least a "man wash" at the sink with a washcloth when I can't (face, under my arms, hands, tits, bits and feet). Bath every other day or third day, usually at night (then a shower after, as I love wallowing in the bath, but it is wallowing in my own filth, with all the dead skin etc).

bluebearss · 16/10/2020 22:56

Every day! I prefer morning, but sometimes baby has other plans so otherwise it's evening when DH gets home. I might miss a day if I'm ill/absolutely exhausted, but that's rare.

LomasLongstrider · 16/10/2020 22:58

My ex often did (and still does) go ages without washing himself, but it's when his depression is getting the better off him. Does your dp seem fine in other ways?

Anotherdayanotherdisappointmen · 16/10/2020 22:59

Every night before getting into my bed, also after the gym if I've been that day.

artyandtarty · 16/10/2020 22:59

That. Is. Fucking. Grim. OP. Has he always been this way? How you manage to
Sleep next to him ( if you do) is beyond me. Bums, armpits, ones private parts... all need washing at least once a day.

Dirty man. Ugh. Bet he stinks 😷

Anotherlovelybitofsquirrel · 16/10/2020 23:01

Shower in the morning and a shower or bath at night. He sounds grim.

artyandtarty · 16/10/2020 23:05

Sometimes with WFH it's just a quick shower wash down in the lady regions in the morning then a proper shower at night, most days when I'm active & leaving the house it's shower in morning & at night.

I just cannot understand how people go more than a day not washing private parts Confused vom Confused

TableFlowerss · 16/10/2020 23:07

I’ve got bad eczema so I shower about 3 times a week. My skin breaks out if I do it more. I’m lucky in the sense I don’t sweat much so I don’t smell. I do use a flannel and wash my bits every day though 😬 a top and tail 😂

MyNameForToday1980 · 16/10/2020 23:11

We both shower every morning unless there's an active reason not to (eg if I'm properly ill I might leave it a day, and every few months DH has a super busy morning and leaves it for the day).

WellQualifiedToRepresentTheLBC · 16/10/2020 23:12

I don't think its normal, in our current culture, not to wash at least once every 48 hours tbh.

I live in a very dry, cool, high desert climate. My male friends around here shower at least daily. A couple have very dry skin/eczema, and shower without using soap unless they've actually got dirt on themselves e.g. from working outside. But still freshen up with hot water and reapply antiperspirant etc.

When I've lived in more humid climates, a twice daily shower, with soap, was the norm for men.

Certainly in the dating world right now, you'd be hard pressed to get a date if you admitted to going 3+ days without washing...

Laufeythejust · 16/10/2020 23:14

I shower in the evenings (I am not a morning person!) after exercising so 6 times a week. On my rest day I’ll normally have a bath but I do sometimes skip it, couldn’t go from Tuesday though is his hair not really gross?

Givemeabreak88 · 16/10/2020 23:14

The people that say they don’t smell probably do but are nose blind to their own smell but sorry the rest of us can smell you.

ohnoitsnot · 16/10/2020 23:14

Dp doesn't live with me , but stays the weekend and often doesn't shower fri-sun . Who knows what he does at his own place

Mydogmylife · 16/10/2020 23:16

Every morning when I get up, occasionally miss a morning if unwell and bath later in the day instead

AllDressedUpForMyselfOnly · 16/10/2020 23:20

Shower everyday and wash hair every other day.

Adsy1988 · 16/10/2020 23:23

So it’s a general consensus that you should wash more than a couple of days a week.

No signs of depression and nothing out of the ordinary, I just think that lockdown and WFH has made the necessity of a shower not as big a deal as it previously was, to DP anyway.

How can I approach this without DP taking massive offence?

OP posts:
Fallsballs · 16/10/2020 23:25

Tell the stinky fecker to have a shower

RoseGold7 · 16/10/2020 23:28

Every single night to wash off the day. Don’t like the feel of going bed without having a shower or bath. Gross not to shower everyday.

WellQualifiedToRepresentTheLBC · 16/10/2020 23:29

"I like when you smell clean. Can you shower before you get into bed with me? Thanks."

If he takes offense at that, not sure he gives a fuck really.
