Been chatting with a guy for a few days, seems pretty nice. Which is probably the number one quality i'm looking for (long back story, dv etc).

Anyway, we arranged a day for a virtual date, buf not long afterwards he mentiones he had an embarassing minor medical condition. It's not the condition itself, it's the fact that he mentioned it really early on. AIBU to have cold feet?

It's IBS.

Look if it's put you off that's fine, you don't owe anyone a date or a 'chance'.

I totally get where you're coming from, nobody needs to be talking about their bowels with someone they're hoping to strike up a spark with, before they've even met.

borntohula · 06/06/2020 21:00

Worms

I don't know if you meant that to be funny TooTired but I sniggered loudly ...

ManterayMinx · 06/06/2020 21:01

still Smileing

HollowTalk · 06/06/2020 21:05

What are the chances of this man being on here, OP? Really?

backseatcookers · 06/06/2020 21:06

IBS then?

borntohula · 06/06/2020 21:07

Excessive flatulence? Halitosis??

MortyFide · 06/06/2020 21:14

IBS, no question! I've had it for 30 years but wouldn't dream of telling someone I'd just met.

Unless I really needed to use their loo.

ClassicCola · 06/06/2020 21:36

Just bloody tell us. It's worse than an outing hobby thread.

Seaweed42 · 06/06/2020 21:36

It must be something visible it he's telling you so early. Maybe a birthmark or a rash on his face or something? Do you know what it is?

backseatcookers · 06/06/2020 21:44

Oh god @classiccola maybe that's it!

Just bloody tell us. It's worse than an outing hobby thread.

OP, is he...

(whispering)

... a cyclist?

Shudder.

WellDidYa · 06/06/2020 22:01

what is the point of a thread when the main information is missing?

Its like "everyone i know hates my babys name" well what the fuck is it

CodenameVillanelle · 06/06/2020 22:05

Oh god no I couldn't meet a man who had mentioned his dodgy bowels or fungal toenails before we had even met. I fully admit to being very weird about other people's weird body stuff but this would totally ick me beyond repair.

NoMoreDickheads · 06/06/2020 22:10

Yep, my vote is for Ulcerative Colitis or something and he gave you all the gory details of beans going straight through him. Or worse still, he once had the shits in town. (I don't have it lol but these are things I've heard.)

I think I'd feel somewhat the same, it'd burst the bubble a bit. Whether I gave him another chance(s) would depend how much I was otherwise into him.

NoMoreDickheads · 06/06/2020 22:13

IDK, some people are into that shit.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I associate men who unattractively divulge with men who are crap in bed. They're trying to pour cold water on you before they start, so you're not as let down when they reveal their complete ED.

theneighbourswindchime · 06/06/2020 22:26

If he told you early on, he probably wants to protect himself from rejection later down the line.

If it's IBS etc than it can be really really awkward and awful to navigate (esp with first date nerves or situations where he might need to use a toilet urgently etc)

If it is this... please be kind as it took some courage to tell you. He's obviously worried.

If it's a bent willy... then good luck...

affnarc · 06/06/2020 22:40

I was with someone with ulcerative colitis. I found out straight away. I didn't want to hear about bleeding etc that soon.

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 06/06/2020 22:44

is he vegan??

CodenameVillanelle · 06/06/2020 23:05

@LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow

is he vegan??
Is that meant to be funny?
Yester · 06/06/2020 23:11

Is he vegan? Made me properly laugh
DH has become a vegan after 19 years together. It's fucking annoying Grin

ManterayMinx · 06/06/2020 23:12

is he vegan??

Made me laugh Code

Is this going to be the unintentional laughter thread? [laugh]

ManterayMinx · 06/06/2020 23:12

I meant Grin

IHaveBrilloHair · 06/06/2020 23:15

Oh god just tell us.

Egora · 06/06/2020 23:17

IBS for sure.

ManterayMinx · 06/06/2020 23:19

Maybe its private, you don't need to tell a public forum OP.

It might be important that you know ... it really depends on how "minor" the medical issue is. It could be something he is self-conscious about. If it was IBS or something like that it would be a weird declaration (hence all the above humour which I've enjoyed), but it might be something more significant to a first date.
