Dating thread 166: Who dates wins

  1. The first rule about the dating thread is don't talk about it with people you're dating.
  2. Develop a thick skin.
  3. Do not invest emotionally too soon.
  4. It's all BS until it actually happens.
  5. Trust your gut instinct.
  6. People vanishing, lying & being generally weird is not your fault.
  7. You are the prize - they should be trying to impress you.
  8. If it's not fun, stop.
  9. Loo update is mandatory.
10. No dating the thread. 11. Do unto others as you would have them do to you. 12. Any relationship you have that could get ruined by having a conversation about your feelings, standards and/or expectations wasn't really stable enough to begin with

@supercali77 ah that’s hard...and wtf was Mr Cyclist thinking? I’m not feeling the apps either. Came off Bumble and have no interest in chatting on Tinder. I have a bad feeling about Mr Bucket now, I’m not sure what or why as he was perfectly nice, but it’s there nonetheless. But no inclination to go back in and get swiping either. Dating sucks.

Ginmel · 11/08/2019 09:38

Have established mr p wants to someone to swing with, fair enough its a swinging site after all. Mr I may go soon for similar reasons. He's still around because we do have some commonality in non sexual interests. My profile is hidden again though.

@Ginmel you are 100% right on that one!! It was about me not feeling he was committed to me and after 2 years that's why it ended!!

Marlboroandmalbec34 · 11/08/2019 09:50

I think that can be the problem with men on fab ginmel some of them are so into the swing side and fab I think can become addictive

Ginmel · 11/08/2019 09:51

@ohh someone posted an actual image of a quote though? If that was you can you share it again?

OP posts:
Ginmel · 11/08/2019 09:53

@Marlboroandmalbec34 the odd thing until now is that none of the men I've spoken to have been interested in that side of the site. Can't work it out why now...

As odd as Fab can be, (and sometimes to me it felt predatory), I have to say it did wonders for my self-esteem and body confidence. The honesty of first meetings when you're setting the ground rules was also refreshing. And I love the verifications - a bit like Trip Advisor!

ohhahhh789 · 11/08/2019 10:19

No @Ginmel it was not me x

Marlboroandmalbec34 · 11/08/2019 10:27

I have a new iron I will call him Mr Pleasant because he is errrr very pleasant 😂

Still talking to Mr Luigi but he is still on hols.

Marlboroandmalbec34 · 11/08/2019 10:28

putastraw agree re body confidence!

Ginmel · 11/08/2019 10:35

I wish we could see all the veris though, unlike TripAdvisor we only see the 5 star ratings.

Imagine...

Talked about himself for 1 hour. Happily had double shots when it was my turn to pay. Bathroom looked like it hadn't seen any bleach for 2 years. I left his house quickly.

Peanuthedz · 11/08/2019 11:05

@Ginmel think we've met up with the same guy

Peanuthedz · 11/08/2019 11:06

And I'm pretty sure it was @JeSuisPrest who posted the quote. It was referring to mr abs

Ginmel · 11/08/2019 11:11

Peanuthedz 😂 Thanks for the quote tip off source too

ccgirr · 11/08/2019 11:39

Bork @ginmel I couldn’t cope with the bathroom. The verification for me puts me off as I don’t like the idea of peoples’ past! Least you found out quickly about mr p.

@Marlboroandmalbec34 I think you spot on about fab

Ginmel · 11/08/2019 11:42

I just made that veri up BTW. Fortunately I've not met anyone that bad!

OP posts:
Ginmel · 11/08/2019 11:43

I feel the same about a lot of veris. It is interesting to see what any irons have written on the corresponding females though.

ccgirr · 11/08/2019 11:50

Lol @ginmel totally believed 🤣

Ginmel · 11/08/2019 11:54

If someone talked at me for an hour, there's no way in hell it'd have gone any further. In fact I probably wouldn't have lasted an hour.

OP posts:
Ginmel · 11/08/2019 11:55

@Marlboroandmalbec34 is your luigi on fab? He doesn't have 3 daughters by any chance does he?

Sunshineandflipflops · 11/08/2019 12:58

I will catch up later when MrSAS has gone home but right now he is cooking me breakfast in my kit hen after a very lovely evening and morning 😊

We had a bath which lasted about 1.5 hours, hence breakfast being a little late 😂

Savoretti · 11/08/2019 13:06

@Sunshineandflipflops 🥰

Marlboroandmalbec34 · 11/08/2019 13:40

Enjoy sunshine

Don’t know about Mr Luigi been on Fab ginmel haven't met him yet. He has 3 kids but 2 are boys. Mr Big is on Fab and I think that’s why he doesn’t want to commit to me (or anyone)

HarmlessChap · 11/08/2019 14:17

Well I've been a little reluctant to post this as its all a bit "fast forwardy" but a little over a week ago I started chatting online with a school worker, who is enjoying the long break. She's been away on holiday with her children, family and friends but is finally back on Friday for the night before going off to stay with another family member on Saturday. So we are taking the opportunity and having a date!

We have texted and spoken a lot on the phone, so much so there is a massive connection already, and I'm hopeful that the physical attraction will be strong when we finally meet. We have lots in common, we think the same way, want the same things; its all just a bit scary as it's just a little surreal.

Obviously there's a lot which could go wrong but I feel massively optimistic and lucky at the moment.

Savoretti · 11/08/2019 14:21

Mr Tri and I had our first trip to Ikea yesterday, closely followed by Decathlon.
I’m not sure it can really be counted though as teenage DD came too 😂

However we did survive and he even said it was a good day Smile
