Dating thread rules:

  1. The first rule about the dating thread is you don't talk about it with people you're dating.
  2. Develop a thick skin.
  3. Do not invest emotionally too soon.
  4. It's all BS until it actually happens.
  5. Trust your gut instinct.
  6. People vanishing, lying & being generally weird is not your fault.
  7. You are the prize - they should be trying to impress you.
  8. If it's not fun, stop.
  9. Loo update is mandatory.
10. No dating the thread

VixenSixen · 26/02/2018 19:21

Good luck kin!! We are all rooting for you

thienna · 26/02/2018 19:23

Good luck Kin!

VetOnCall · 26/02/2018 19:24

Ah, but of course... yeah, it's definitely the original BBC that I meant!

VetOnCall · 26/02/2018 19:30

Wtf? Did he get confused between POF and a job application? Other than 'Hello' at the top this is the entire message Confused

Ha ha ha, god Vet you do get them! On the plus side you must get tons of messages as you constantly keep us amused (even if they are mostly odd :) )
Call him up if you can't sleep tonight, you will drop off in minutes.

esk1mo · 26/02/2018 19:39

vet im proper laughing reading that

kin 👀

BeenThereDating · 26/02/2018 19:50

Vet he'll be a laugh a minute then... I actually think I'd prefer a lewd opening line... Nah - I'd block both of them. Actually I might get all nurturing and have the urge to give MPhil a steer on his messaging technique.

Mumfun · 26/02/2018 19:50

Some better irons turning up thank goodness.

But just noticed what I'm sure is a local married father at the school advertising for a hookup. Moving swiftly along and thanking my stars that I don't know the wife.

Weather threatens my speed dating Sad

Vet Sorry Mr BBC didnt pass the looming test. And that profile is definitely a cut and paste gone wrong. Hope he didnt send off his application form saying that his kids always came first together with a dodgy body shot!

Kin Good luck and hope she isnt a bloke

VetOnCall · 26/02/2018 19:59

Thing is I looked at his profile and it's really good!! Really well written and interesting which makes that message even weirder. I had already messaged back 'hi... are you looking for a date or a job interview?! Wink' and he hasn't replied... I might have hurt his feelings Grin He lives in Cardiff so way too far anyway.

BeenThereDating · 26/02/2018 20:00

Mumfun the idea of a cut and paste gone wrong made me laugh out loud

Pogmella · 26/02/2018 20:04

Hmm so my chap is being less chatty than usual. I don't really have time to see him for a while although it is theoretically loss of. But I don't want to arrange childcare unless he's keen.

So I don't want to msg him to ask to meet up but I do what to establish when to meet up. Argh. I hate this.

In general I'm just a bit low atm. Meeting STBXH's woman (the OW) tomorrow to discuss her being my DDs step mum. Ouch.

VetOnCall · 26/02/2018 20:05

Mum that would be hilarious. Can you imagine; right now some LinkedIn contact is looking at a message saying that he loves nights out and in and thinking "what the fuck?' 😂

Pogmella · 26/02/2018 20:05

Mumfun That made me laugh too!

Kinunir · 26/02/2018 20:08

OMFG what a waist of an evening. Should have listened to all the no comments. Ho hum, only an hour drive home... Angry

Pogmella · 26/02/2018 20:08

I was sitting apps for a job once and this girl applied who would have to relocate for the job and her covering letter went something like 'Hi My name is Sandy and after splitting up with my partner who I used to own a business with I've decided now it's time to focus on me and do something great for me' Which had the opposite effect- if only we could introduce Vet's pof find to her!

VetOnCall · 26/02/2018 20:12

Pog I hope it goes as well as it can tomorrow but that basically sucks ass, I'm sorry Sad

Kin what happened?

ValMc1 · 26/02/2018 20:13

That was quick Kin

CoverMeLads · 26/02/2018 20:21

Here’s my highlight of the day 🙄

I shall return; you’ve all been having far too much fun without me, tsk.

CoverMeLads · 26/02/2018 20:22

Massive hugs, Pog Flowers

You’ll be introducing a bloke in the same scenario erelong.......x

Pogmella · 26/02/2018 20:25

Cover That feels rather unlikely at the moment Sad

BeenThereDating · 26/02/2018 20:26

Pog Flowers

Kin no show or no way?

CoverMeLads · 26/02/2018 20:29

I know, lovely. And I also know “time is a great healer” is a cliché that will probably make you want to punch me in the jaw. But it’s true.

Hang in there; we’ll all be sending unMumsnetty hugs and positive thoughts tomorrow.

esk1mo · 26/02/2018 20:30

cover i love the “xxx” at the end 😂 not even a question mark

CoverMeLads · 26/02/2018 20:32

I wish I’d replied to that message above with “are you the farmer?” but there’s no way he’d have had any clue what I was on about. Which is another reason not to date millennials.
