Have you cheated on a partner... and have you done it more than once?

Feel free to name change for this!!!

Read sooo many times this morning words to the effect of "once a cheater, always a cheater".

So... have you cheated on a partner?

If so, have you done it more than once (ie to the same person or cheated on multiple partners)?

If you have only done it once, do you think you ever conceivably could again?

PLEASE ladies - this isn't a "lets stone the unfaithful" thread - it is about finding out if it is a fair assessment, and whether or not we should trust again if it is a "one off".

ok, so namechange is working.

I have cheated on my dh once. We were going through a really bad patch, even spoke about seperating.

I had a one night stand with someone as my self esteem was really low and he was very flattering.

That was about 4 years ago and I still feel guilty about it now. I can't say it would never happen again - I hope to god I'd never be that stupid again but those were dark times and I was a different person looking for some attention.

JARM · 01/05/2007 16:53

From DH :

I had a kiss with someone when JARM was in
America on holiday, got as far as being invited back to her place, but I couldnt do it. I knew that I loved her too much and felt at my worst after it happened.

Unfortunately I was a git and didnt tell her until the day after we got married, but she has forgiven me and here we are 3.5yrs on.

haha waiting game i wondered what the first post was all about, testing testing 123

motherinferior · 01/05/2007 16:57

Nope, but I've been the other woman more than once.

I have to point out that even if I wanted to cheat on Mr Inferior the offers are curiously lacking. I need to get out more.

waitinggame · 01/05/2007 16:59

I had to be sure my "secret identity" was working. I've too much to loose to post that info under my real name.

sinnedalot · 01/05/2007 17:19

Well i just had to check I couldn't be traced. I cheated on my ex-dh more than once. I thought I was just being selfish and could carry on being a good wife but unfortunately I found that I became physically repulsed by my dh as I yearned for another guy. I doubt I would ever be unfaithful again, it's very corrosive. I must add that I would have prefered to leave dh and not be unfaithful but I was trapped at the time and got out when I could.

sinnedalot · 01/05/2007 17:32

What I've learned is how important it is to make sure your dp is really and truly your partner in life and sexually compatible. I would never even get into any situation again where anything amiss could transpire.
I ignored the warning signals from the beginning that me and dh were not compatible in bed because I loved him so much I thought I'd be able to change him.

dancingtina · 01/05/2007 18:25

well, here i am admitting that I've only ever been faithful to my first boyfriend (first love) aged 16 - 18 yr - then after that I've always ended up snogging or having sex with other people, mostly one off's but sometimes slightly longer as 'fuck buddies'.

I can honestly say that I have loved my partners and love my hubby at moment (have got 2 kids) but just seem to be incapable of resisting temptation and excitement. I have a high sex drive and get a total buzz from one off sex/snogs with other people. I'm not excusing myself, I know it's shitty of me - just trying to explain.

Me and my friends have a theory that some people are meant to be monogomous and some people aren't - guess I'm one that isn't!

climbingwalls · 01/05/2007 19:09

cheated on my ex dh after I told him I wanted to leave. It helped me become more deached from him and make that seperation, and also made me realise that I was attractive to other men unlike what my dh had always told me! I definately didn't love him though.

Janos · 01/05/2007 19:22

Once and once only, on my XP, when our relationship was falling to bits. Not an excuse but a reason..was a horrible expereince too.

LazyLine · 01/05/2007 19:30

I did all my messing around before DH. I cheated on most of my boyfriends in the end. They weren't that serious, I was a teenager. I have also been the other woman once, though not with someone that was married.

TBH, I was never that bothered about it, I guess I never felt anything real for them.

When I met DH, everything was different. I didn't want, and still don't to even look at anyone else.

LazyLine · 01/05/2007 19:33

When I say cheated, I don't mean sex. Just to clear up any sluttiness.

suejonez · 01/05/2007 19:33

I have had sex/affair/love affair with 3 men who were cheating on their partners with varying degrees of excusability on their part. I would only have trusted one of them if we had ended up together. I truly believe that he wouldn't cheat again, the other two were philandering bastards and I felt sorry for their wives (though obviously not enough). In my (feeble) defence I was much younger.

ScoobyDooooo · 01/05/2007 19:33

Never & never would.

suejonez · 01/05/2007 19:35

I have never cheated on one of my partners, never wanted to.

mustrunmore · 01/05/2007 19:36
