Hello Smile

I’m Mouse one of the Brave Babes who ride on this wonderful Bus, called Gerald, along with all the Opal Fruits wrappers and of course Barry The squid. Grin

We all have a wise variety of life experiences and experiences with alcohol too. We’re not admirers of hang overs and we certainly don’t do judgey pants!

We’re here to ride along with you, when life is pants but also when it’s not as well and you my want to celebrate that bit too much!

So find a seat and come take a ride. I’ll link the previous and also the very first link and the reason we’re all here.

Saywhen · 11/11/2017 07:44

Good morning everyone.

Mint that is too much cuteness there for this time in the morning!

Woken up today day 8 af. I have a cold, big cold sore and dry red skin on face. I feel better than last Saturday morning but only just! I feel so run down. Is this connected?

Guess it could just be because I'm run down as 8 day is only 8 days. There's a lot of recover from.

Thank you all for the tip about drinking apps where do you get them? Can they be private on your phone?

Slingsanderrors · 11/11/2017 08:13

Morning all. Awwww Mint! I want one, NOW! Please?

So I did 4 days AF again, had some wine last night (just under a bottle). Didn't really want it but 'D'H sulked when I said no. Pathetic really, drinking to make someone else happy. Anyway, don't feel too bad considering, but didn't sleep as well as I do AF.

spanna41 · 11/11/2017 08:33

Morning All

Beaches that made me cry! Still a bit weepy now Blush thank you. I don't think many of us have anyone in Real Life that 'gets it' that's why I treasure this bus so much 💜

Herman agree with Guggs what is a Helga - I want one too!

Mint look at that little face soooo cute - if you weren't so far away I'd be round like a shot 😁

Saywhen personally I think it's all connected, it takes a while for those shitty toxins to leave your body, it's so used to them it's not sure what to do. Go get some hard core Vit B (can't remember the one that's recommended on here? Someone?) Eat plenty of fruit & veg (sorry I'm starting to sound like your mum) Hmm Drink loads of water to flush your system out. I promise you that you will start feeling the benefits soon 😁

On my phone and having 'losing post fear' sending now before it disappears. Waves to everyone 😀

I love the camels 🐪🐫🐪🐫🐪🐫

spanna41 · 11/11/2017 08:39

Saywhen I use the 'I'm done drinking' app it's free from App Store on an iPhone

dementedma · 11/11/2017 08:45

Camels?? We had a camel called Humphrey on the bus once. I think he belonged to our resident Wise Woman venus
beaches thank you. Smile
Off to sell poppies and then no plans until Strictly.

MintToBee · 11/11/2017 09:46

Saywhen
I had terrible skin when I did my long stint of AF. I spent a fortune on nip + fab stuff and Superdrug hot cloth cleansers and it's really helping. My legs wouldn't stop itching either. It was horrendous. And the constipation/ dia I went through was pretty nasty too. It does improve though!
dementedma
This is the first year I've managed to keep a Poppy on! Normally I end up with just the green stick. 😕 Hope it's not too cold for you today.
spanna41
Post loss fear is a bitch! I've been unable to attach photos lately. I've noticed it's when using my adblock browser🤔

MintToBee · 11/11/2017 09:47

Slingsanderrors
Gorgeous aren't they. And huge for two weeks.

Saywhen · 11/11/2017 10:47

mint I have some nip fab stuff but hadn't bothered for ages so il ferrit through the cupboards and fine. I am also ... very consistipated.... sorry for that info! But good to know it's all normal!! Thank you

HemanOrSheRa · 11/11/2017 11:20

Morning! Helga is what I have named my Lovely new shiatsu neck and back massager. I apologise if anyone here is called Helga, I really do love her. She gives a very firm massage and gets into any back and neck knots of tension. It can be a bit hurty if I am carrying a lot of tension (which I do, I spend a lot of time with my shoulders round my ears) but in a good way Grin. I bought it from Amazon.

Say definitely get a good quality vitamin b complex tablet. Try and get one with methylcobalamin as the b12. It's easier for the body to take up and use this type. It is definitely worth taking a high strength vit D tablet if you don't already. And lysine supplements are fantastic for reducing cold sores or even stopping an outbreak. I get them on my nose and last year I had one in my eye, on my cornea Confused. I was very run down after my Dad died. Also, booze depletes the body's natural supply of magnesium. You can try Epsom salt baths. If you've got any dosh left after that then buy some cake Smile.

GreySocks · 11/11/2017 11:39

Hi everyone, first post but long time lurker. I've been drinking a bottle of wine (at least) every night for longer than I care to remember. I stopped whilst pregnant (7 years ago) but other than that it's virtually every night. I'm a single parent and I want to be a better mum to my DD. I'm sick and tired of drinking, it bores me sitting there every night pouring wine down my neck then waking up feeling bloated and anxious. I really really want to stop. The weekends she's at her dads are the hardest because I'm so bored sat on my own in the evening. Help!!

HemanOrSheRa · 11/11/2017 13:11

Hello Grey Smile. The things that work for me are having a plan and changing my routine - even small changes can make all the difference. So for example for me eating dinner earlier with DS and tidying up will mean in my head that 'the kitchen is closed' for the day. I don't have to battle thoughts of opening a bottle and cooking dinner for myself because it's all done. Just going to bed works too. Just saying Stuff It, I'm bored, I'll go to bed with a hot choc and read Smile.

Also, being very harsh about the reality works, mostly Confused. I still have little blips but I can count them on one hand since the beginning of September. I have a vision of myself being a FABULOUS up together woman who is sipping champagne and being wonderful. The reality is me slumped in front of the TV watching Criminal Minds reruns in my scruffs when I'm drinking, which is very different Grin.

GreySocks · 11/11/2017 13:50

Thanks so much for the reply. Definitely eating earlier will help as I do find the craving for a drink lessens once I’ve eaten. I’ll get some hot chocolate in as well! I’m determined to do it this time.

HemanOrSheRa · 11/11/2017 15:13

No problem Smile. Sometimes It's really hard and I've just had to white knuckle it. Couple of times I've flipped my fuck it switch because It's too much. No shame in that - just keep on keeping on Smile. Make sure you get yourself some nice alcohol free drinks in so you don't end up drinking water and feeling deprived. And you might find you need more sugar in the first few days if you feel dreadful. So lots of sweets, chocolate and cake are needed!

GreySocks · 11/11/2017 17:05

Right I can do this. Sweets and hot chocolate in the cupboard!!!!

Saywhen · 11/11/2017 17:13

heman thank you I took the details you have and have lysine and choose a good multi vitamin!

grey welcome. I'm in the early days - day 8 af. Getting treats really helped me. And sober blogs - great for getting in the right frame of mind. Mummys a secret drinker I think it's called is really good. I am on my phone otherwise I'd Google and link. Good luck.

HemanOrSheRa · 11/11/2017 19:30

Yep that is the one Say. It's really good Grey. Try and read from the beginning if you can so it makes more sense. mummywasasecretdrinker.blogspot.co.uk/?m=1

I hope I didn't come across as a health but earlier Say. I'm REALLY not ConfusedGrin. I have a tendency to get really run down and know vits b/d ALWAYS make me feel better. And even more so that I'm not putting away bottles and bottles of wine each week, and the accompanying late nights/poor sleep, which adds to general rundownyness Smile (is that a word?).

I will take quite large doses of lysine when I can feel a cold sore coming on. Doesn't always stop it but definitely reduces the blistering and makes them disappear more quickly. I've got a head cold right now so fully expect to get one on my hooter in a week or so .

HemanOrSheRa · 11/11/2017 19:31

Health NUT not BUT Grin. I have a new phone. That's my excuse!

GreySocks · 11/11/2017 19:35

Currently reading through mummy was a secret drinker, it's really good and resonates a lot with me. Hopefully it'll help get me through. Currently pottering around the house trying to resist the urge to pop to the shop Confused

HemanOrSheRa · 11/11/2017 19:36

Oh. And try and avoid nuts, chocolate and coffee when you have an outbreak and you are taking Lysine. They contain arginine which is the 'opposite' amino acid to lysine and can trigger a cold sore attack.

holdbackonthewine · 11/11/2017 19:56

MsHoolie how are you doing? I’m so impressed with your days AF! I’m slightly tiddly but fuck, it’s been a full on week and I’ve still been drinking less than half of what I was drinking. I need to get back to AF days though, I know that. DS and DIL and DGS should move out any day so that will reduce my work load hugely and DD’s DH is back from working away so she won’t need me so much with DGS so I’m hoping I can reclaim my life. Feeling I’m still on the right path as haven’t once thought “sod it” and got thoroughly sloshed so slow progress here.

Lots of new brave babes to welcome and a big well done to all those struggling on with huge hugs to those struggling.

dementedma · 11/11/2017 20:18

Welcome grey. Put your pjs on as soon as you get home in the evening. Then you have to get dressed to pop to the shop which gives you a reason not to do it. In yet another attempt to reduce my alcohol intake I have switched to beer. Can only drink two and feel full which is better than a whole bottle of wine. I think.

Saywhen · 11/11/2017 20:35

heman no it was very helpful thank- no health nuttiness taken!!!

I can not give up the coffee I'll take the cold sores that's my only crutch left!

dementedma · 11/11/2017 21:12

Strange evening. The baby of the family ds (15) as gone out to the cinema with his mates, and dd1 is on taxi duty to pick him up at 11pm by which time I will be asleep. I love that life is so much easier now that they are older but this does feel odd. Ds is far too young to be out at that time of night!!!Confused
