Hello Smile

I’m Mouse one of the Brave Babes who ride on this wonderful Bus, called Gerald, along with all the Opal Fruits wrappers and of course Barry The squid. Grin

We all have a wise variety of life experiences and experiences with alcohol too. We’re not admirers of hang overs and we certainly don’t do judgey pants!

We’re here to ride along with you, when life is pants but also when it’s not as well and you my want to celebrate that bit too much!

So find a seat and come take a ride. I’ll link the previous and also the very first link and the reason we’re all here.

bee congratulations!!

How's every one finding the festive period?

I am still af day 54. Have found it hard though. Christmas day was good but hard work without the shut off alcohol brings. Everyone else drunk and having fun. The reality for me though would have been different as I can't drink. I would have been messy and yesterday would have been awful. But I still missed the few drink feeling if not the playing it until the end. I didn't miss the 3am wake up. The checking to see how much I had drunk. The embarisment. Trying to fill in the gaps.

dementedma · 27/12/2017 08:59

well done saywhen. A good Christmas here, very low key and relaxed. Have been moderating and done ok. Had one bottle of red on christmas day but that was the whole day and evening. One glass last night. Off for a walk on the beach today

foreverblessedbee · 27/12/2017 11:17

Morning everyone.....well done all for getting through it all in the best way for you.
We've had a heavy snow shower here so everything g is looking slightly more festive outside the windows....we are having an '"in-day" today - no extra family, no
over-people-ING, we haven't got to go anywhere, boys are all still in pyjaysSmile......ds2 my middle-y with asd is super chilled today as he is having lots of one to one time 20th daddy building lego.....when HE is chilled it has such a lovely effect on rest of us. So a calm day today I hope. Family get together on Friday at our house so that's 2 days reprieve at leastSmile I am still alcohol free!!!! Didn't have the urges at all last night, boxing day tea at my mums with all family, mum and sister both drinking, lots of prosecco abounding bit I was more than happy with fizzy water and diet ginger ale! I actually had no urge to drink at all. Wonders will never cease! LuxuryWoman2017 · 27/12/2017 19:42

Hey all, welcome lastname
I've had a lovely Christmas and have been sensible for the first time in years. A few glasses of champagne interspersed with water or juice and it's been great.

Gearing up for DJ now.

MissHoolie I hope you're OK x

I expect an influx of new babes soon who need support so anyone reading and hesitating, jump on and join in.

ThisIsMyTime · 27/12/2017 19:59

I can believe this thread is still going, that’s amazing xx

sofability · 27/12/2017 20:16

Happy Christmas to everyone here
Iv been ill post Christmas with tonsillitis, first time ever for me , upside is no alcohol as had antibiotics, strange and surreal but actually ok with no alcohol, am hoping to continue with it, albeit not personal choice😊
I feel Iv been aching for a chance ( not sure right word) for something to kick start more than 3-4 days AF, already I feel clearer, more patience with DC's, I realise that it is not easy but am hopeful for the next few days.. one day at a time.

Razorboy · 27/12/2017 22:06

Hello bus

Need to pop myself in the sidecar for a bit

Is Barrie handy? Will need a little slap in the new year Grin

panjandrumpyjamas · 28/12/2017 07:07

Hi All , Jumping on board ahead of dry January. Weekends are the worst for me so I am going to try not drinking this weekend in prep for the January ahead as a dry run so to speak.

lastnamefirstfirstnamelast · 28/12/2017 11:37

Im at the doctors now having liver function tests. Im really not interested in drinking again. Ive hit it hard over Xmas and i even have a slight yellowing of the eyes. Im petrified xx

Saywhen · 28/12/2017 16:21

guggenheim · 29/12/2017 06:57

Morning babes,
Need to haul my arse out of the sidecar and January might be a good time to reconsider how many crisps, cheese and chocolate i’ve shovelled down in the past week. Sigh.

Genuinely looking forward to dry jan!

Wingingit321 · 29/12/2017 07:05

Joining. I’ve been sticking my head in the sand about how much I drink all year. Going to do a dry january and see how we go from there

Melonsonic · 29/12/2017 08:00

Hi all - I've rejoined this thread, having dipped a toe in it in the past.

I haven't had a night without a bottle of wine for nearly two years Sad

I'm so stressed about it and feel completely out of control.

Good luck to all the babes.

dementedma · 29/12/2017 08:34

guggs good to see you again1
winging and melon you are very welcome. It's a bit quiet at the moment as the Babes are caught up with family/Christmas stuff, but it will fill up soon.

MintToBee · 29/12/2017 08:57

Waves to Melonsonic lastnamefirstfirstnamelast (hope the liver tests are okFlowers)
Wingingit321 and all other babes new and old.

I'm now 3 days AF .Things took a horrible turn on 25th. Years worth of rage and anger came out and it wasn't pretty. I am not proud of things said and done. I truly lost my mind. I don't have a drink problem, I'm a functioning alcoholic. I can finally admit that. Hopefully my GP can help.

Melonsonic · 29/12/2017 09:23

Thanks Ma.

Mint sounds like you were at breaking point ThanksCake

lastnamefirstfirstnamelast · 29/12/2017 09:24

Hi Guys,

The doc has phoned and said the levels are raised but they were raised like that in the past but have also been normal in 2013 so they are not concerned as the other tests they did yesterday came back normal.

I tell you what though i was petrified, i have spent hours crying. regretting everysingle last drop i have ever had.

15 years of drinking has been done, im 31 on monday and im going to start living again.

We can do this babes. xxxx

dementedma · 29/12/2017 09:30

mint sounds like you have reached the turning point.
Am in bed watching the snow fall and not in the mood to do anything really today.

Welshcakesareyum · 29/12/2017 10:23

Hello everyone :)
I'm hoping to join the thread for some advice and hopefully offer my support.
I have a busy schedule so do not socialise at all. I'm pretty boring actually. Wine is my best friend. I drink wine when I'm happy, sad, stressed, and rely on it a little too much. Just turned 40 so not only for health reasons but to stop feeling so yuck, would like to give it up. I have tried cutting down but can't.
I'm concerned how I will fill my time. It's what I rely on after a long 12 hour shift. It's what I rely on on my evenings off. It's what I rely on to numb the feeling of loneliness.
How do I kick this habit, it's going to be so hard.
