how do you come back from that? I need the small steps please. At this point I can't stop crying and have no hope of ever being ok again.

Compassion and understanding for the OP? Seriously no.

An affair lasting 3.5 years is no mistake, it's pre meditated and planned and executed without giving a fuck for their partners or children.

The depth of self pity in the OPs post does nothing for me, in fact I hope she learns from it.
