dementedma · 16/08/2016 16:14

hey popcorn long time, no see.
show me your opal fruits......

laladidah · 16/08/2016 16:18

Afternoon babes. Hope everyone is well? Hi to popcorn and hammer.

ma loving the soldier pictures, it's a hard life, eh!

crochet how are you doing?

elba I love that idea, how would it work? Someone else more technologically minded will no doubt be able to advise...

I have had a wasted day hungover. Did lots of napping. Now off to walk my poor doglet, then go for a ride, hope the fresh air will do me good.

CrochetAndLabradors · 16/08/2016 17:18

Afternoon all, I've had a bit of a wasted day too, not hungover, just couldn't be arsed to do much. Have littered in the garden and done some washing, walked the fog and been to the shops. Lots of other stuff needs doing, hopefully get my mojo back tomorrow after a night AF..........we'll see Smile

CrochetAndLabradors · 16/08/2016 17:19
  • pottered not littered! *dog not fog! Bloody autotext
dementedma · 16/08/2016 18:38

Love walked the fog. I think we all know that feeling!

CrochetAndLabradors · 16/08/2016 18:43

Oh yes, I've walked the fog many a morning !

laladidah · 16/08/2016 19:05

crochet that was bloody brilliant auto correct, I salute you. I too am partial to littering in the garden and walking the fog... Grin

PopcornNuts · 16/08/2016 20:52

I definitely spend more time littering in the garden than pottering! Since I was last here we've left our lovely finished house and bought another 'project'. This doesn't help my wine consumption!

Not sure I want to show my opal fruit hand ma, you may snaffle them all... chucking them on the bus from the sidecar, I'm almost ready to hop back on board the bus but not quite, I've just reduced my ADs and feeling the most 'normal' I have in a long time which is why I hope to also battle the wine witch too. I find honesty about this difficult in RL, which is one of the reasons I don't use my normal MN name on here as some people know it (you're all welcome to know it though, I need to be honest somewhere so if you want it, just ask, although to be fair I'll probably cock up and post under it pdq!).

CrochetAndLabradors · 16/08/2016 21:48

I do feel that I fit in here very well, with my littering and fogging. Obviously insanity helps. Grin Thanks all x

venusandmars · 16/08/2016 23:08

Hello old friends ( ma ) - well she is the oldest Grin, and hello new people - crochetinglabradors ... and others.

But mostly this is to elba : I read your posts and I feel for you. I've been there. And so I've responded to you wonderful idea for an little spin-off thread. HERE it is

All the lovely chat can carry on here (along with everything else - ups and downs, moodiness and madness), but the joys of the sober moments or the sober minutes, or the sober days / weeks / months. The delight of having achieved a reduced unit count, or the wonder of having attended a family event sober. All of those can be also in the Brave Babes Mini-Bus post your 'phew' moments here

laladidah · 17/08/2016 14:38

crochet you made me laugh again. yes you are completely right, the general insanity does help! Hope you are having a more productive day? I have been littering in the garden in the sunshine Grin so completely unproductive but must enjoy the weather whilst it lasts.

venus thanks for setting up the thread. I shall be popping along soon to place mark and hope I have some lovely AF thoughts/moments to share soon.

popcorn it's great that you are taking it one step at a time (with the reduction in AD's), as they say, it is only one step at a time... This thread is so good for the fact that you can be completely honest, and the lovely babes will offer support and encouragement (which obviously you are well aware of as an old timer).

elba where have you gone? wails

hammer how did you get on yesterday? AF?

Hi ma, what lovely adventurous things have you been up to today?

Now if you will excuse me, I must go and walk the fog (Smile) before going to meet a friend, at the bloody pub of all places. I am going to challenge myself to have a nice cold lemonade or j20 or something...

Elba84 · 17/08/2016 16:05

venus thank you for setting up the mini bus (why can I never think of clever names for things?!). Hope your ok, lovely to 'see' you.

I'm not at all well, had the mother of all binges last night resulting in two very drunk conversations with the Samaritans and one with some poor bloke from aa (never knew they had a 24hr phone line..) Blush Blush. At least that's what I remember, there may of been more. I remember up until about 2am, nothing after that. I'm in bed, definatly still drunk, feel like utter utter crap. Literally thought I'd faint going to get water earlier. I've phoned in sick again for tonight...twice in a week for a hangover Blush. And that's three sick episodes in two months (one genuine) after a previously perfect record. No way that I won't get called up on it.

I gebuinely think I'm done with this now. I remember thinking last night that it was some sort of final blow out, maybe that's why I drank so bloody much. Not sure when I will get my rock bottom moment...there's already been several and I'm still drinking so don't know what it will take.

Keep thinking of all the stupid things I've done. I once overslept for a funeral (and missed it) as I was hungover Blush. Who the fuck does that??! Yet a decade later and still doing it.....

CrochetAndLabradors · 17/08/2016 17:30

lala Grin! I haven't done much littering today, but have been out fogging Wink early this morning.

Thanks for the welcome venus

Elba sorry you're feeling so crap. If you've had 2 nights off sick in a week, can you say it's one of those viruses where you feel better then relapse again? I worked nights for 9 years back in the 80's/ 90's, the knackerdness plays havoc with your body, and your head.

Have been waiting in all day for men to come to service the septic tank - but it's now 5.20pm and they haven't arrived. Tossers. They will get a phone call tomorrow morning. If they've not been by 6, and it's unlikely, I'll trot off for a second fogging. made onion marmalade this afternoon as an attempt to keep me busy, unfortunately the recipe called for 250ml of red wine, so I had to open a bottle, which is now calling to me..........

Summer70 · 17/08/2016 18:13

Crochet Same here re the bottle calling. All I have is a 250ml bottle of prosseco - trouble is if I drink that I know it won't be enough & then it'll be the cooking wine. Been 6 weeks AF now (apart from one reasonably moderate eve) & it's not been too bad on the whole, but some eves the cravings are really strong! Fed up of alcohol still dominating my thoughts from about 4pm every day!!
Elba so sorry you are having such a bad time of it. Don't worry about work too much - you've got a genuine need to be away from work whilst you sort something out. Can you remember whether the AA call was helpful at all? Is there any way you could go to a meeting or similar just to give you a bit more tangible support? Sometimes you need to feel so awful to climb back up.
Hello to everyone who is new to the bus. This is a great forum - amazing how people you've never met can give so much support & motivation.

CrochetAndLabradors · 17/08/2016 18:43

Well done summer, that's brilliant. I aimed for 3 nights AF this week and have only managed one. Same here re the calling bottle, I'm ok all day but 4pm seems to be when the wine witch wakes. I think the craving is an ongoing thing, it just gets easier with time. I stopped smoking 25 or so years ago, but still occasionally really really fancy a cig. Sad

dementedma · 17/08/2016 20:10

Hey Venus. Hope to make it into the mini bus one day but can't see it happening any time soon.
Right babes, without outing myself I need a name for a new magazine I am producing. It is all about Business and business issues/support but I don't want a boring name like "Business News". Innovative but not silly. Our geographical area is Forth Valley so you can include that in the name if you want. Any thoughts?

CrochetAndLabradors · 17/08/2016 20:37

ma Go Forth?

dementedma · 17/08/2016 20:49

Love it crochet.someone else has suggested that and I really like it. Any more?

spanna41 · 17/08/2016 21:14

Ma 'May the Forth be with you?

CrochetAndLabradors · 17/08/2016 21:14

ma I'm not sure of the geography, but I'm assuming that Forth Valley is near the Forth Bridge? So " Business Bridge" or "Bridge to Business?"

dementedma · 17/08/2016 21:22

These are great. Keep em coming...

Elba84 · 17/08/2016 21:22

Thanks crotchet and summer. I don't remember much about the aa call to be honest Blush I have an awful feeling I argued with him quite a bit.. Considering a meeting, but I'm a wimp.

Really outdone myself hangover wise this time, spent the last few hours being very sick, plus full on dripping sweat Blush and palpitations. Finally managing to cautiously sip water...clearly dehydrated as not weed all day! I don't ever, ever want to feel like this again.

CrochetAndLabradors · 17/08/2016 21:30

Elba concentrate on rehydrating and resting. Do you think you can have a few more days off work (sick note if need be) so you can get our act together?
Take care Flowers

CrochetAndLabradors · 17/08/2016 21:31

ma I'm still thinking!
