She is a bit of a mess of Peter and Bernard's making! Why doesn't she get a SHL to deal with it and why won't he give full financial disclosure?

I don't think much of the mediators really, either.

The programme makers seem amateurish and cruel- the music links etc smack of taking the piss. These are real people, in a mess and, although we are watching them for our entertainment, they deserve some respect.

I'm watching. Yes - painful. I wish they hadn't added the slightly silly 'comical' music.

I just feel so sorry for all t he children, including the grown up ones.

I didn't think Vicky came across badly - her ex Jason was a controlling nutter. Sue was a greedy cow. Nichola and Martin - what a mess those two were. He kept cheating on her. She kept taking him back and punishing him by withholding contact with their kids. I didn't envy the mediators one bit.

What a shit that woman is who left a husband and kids then is being openly controlled by her lover. She gets rent free in million pound home plus cash over half million. He gets 300k mortgage for her shit behaviour. The picture in the living room of celebrating yhe date she left her family. How crass. I hope her husband finds someone better than her. No wonder her youngest is not talking to her. Her lover s craving for money meaning she tells her son he has to lose his home. She deserved morally zero.

I don't know, she seemed so childlike, so easily controlled. I saw a streak of something in Peter, and regardless of who left if she had no career etc due to family then half of what they built as a couple belongs to her. The kids are adults, he could have sold had he wanted to...and there is no way he would have got a large mortgage at his age without having a very hefty income.

Jason was mega controlling. "If you don't like my texts telling you how to be a better parent/do it my way then block my number cause I won't stop sending them. I will then blame your blocking my number for our lack of communication."

She the shit is an adult you re right acting like a child with domineering lover who with 30 year age difference probably has form for infidelity. She did not need more than 50 per cent. She is a kept woman with a millionaire lover. She has ruined her family. Doesnt matter hee kids are adults. She admitted she was at fault.

Why shoul he be forced to sell and mran 3 others have to move and change tgeir lives? She did not need any money. She moved to a bigger more expensive home. Her financial needs were zero.

Presumably Bernard's home will go to his children and that's why she needed something.
She was wrong to go for the rise in value after she left, but I do think she was due 50% of what was built during the marriage. Although the fact the adult kids are still at home does confuse that issue. But I'm not sure how you easily resolve that one

In one friends divorce I knew of, the adult kids got a joint mortgage to buy dad out.

Bernard rightly said that he would happily have her and support her, but as he is nigh on 80 he isn't going to be around forever so she needs independence. There is no reason that she should have to walk away with nothing, especially as her ex-husband still earns well.

Sue did seem childlike, yet she was the one who left Bernard for Peter, then dumped Peter and went back to Bernard, because she felt the most important thing was for herself to 'be happy' and fuck everyone else, including the children she left Bernard to have. I'm not surprised her youngest DS doesn't speak to her either. And in Peter's case I think he was just very angry and hurt. Sue seemed blank, by comparison, like she really didn't care about Peter's feelings or the carnage she'd caused.

As for Bernard, he doesn't mind Sue living in his house while he's alive, but he said he considered his responsibilities towards her to be 'zero'! I felt he was enjoying getting revenge on Peter for having 'stolen' Sue all those years before.

I watched it last night....it was painful viewing and agree with the comments about Sue and Jason....I cant believe Sue left her husband for Bernard....he looked about 100 x

I agree with Juneau, Sue seemed like a symbol in the power struggle between Bernard and Peter.

wits, yes, Jason's texts telling his ex-wife how to parent were awful. (I admit once sending my ex a link about the frequent use of long extensions being damaging to a child's hair, but it was only once, he wouldn't believe me and I think it was something he genuinely didn't know).

Nobody came out particularly well. I was thinking back trying to work out whether I was like that during mediation. I genuinely don't think so, but who can really see themselves objectively?

The really awful aspect was the (young) children involved. The parents were so enmeshed in their power struggles with each other that they were completely unable to see that they ought to grow up and try to be a bit more mature for the sake of their children. Some hope.

I have to admit I was somewhat bemused at Sue and Peter's adult sons 'needing' to stay in the family home. What a mess that was. I don't think Sue came out of it terribly well - agree with juneau. If I was Peter I'd be bitter and deeply hurt too.
