Our lovely mouseface usually starts these threads but I've just noticed that the previous one is almost full, so I'm facing technology and get the next one set up.

Anyone, absolutely anyone, who feels they have a problem with drink is welcome here. Whether you're trying to stop, or cut down a little, whether you've been sober for years, or even if you're too scared even to contemplate what is happening. If you think it will help you to post, or lurk, then please do.

There's often a lot of nonsense and banter, but lots of good sound advice.

And there is always lots of support and care and no judgement.

This is the link to the previous thread, if you want to read what's been going on so far The Previous Thread

I wouldn't mind, but I have to carry the bugger as her second set of jabs isn't until Wednesday... And although she is quite small, after about 15 mins she is rather heavy. And wriggly. Gah.

I am a smoker Blush terrible habit, but I am cutting down, so pretty much on about five a day. Boyfriend is European so smokes like a fucking chimney. Not helpful. And I am such a hypocritical smoker, I will clasp my chest and make theatrical wafting gestures with my hand should someone light up next to me knowing full well that I will probably have a cigarette in the next five mins.

Am going to bake Camembert later for dinner with salad. I am so poncey. And also I have no idea what baking Camembert entails... I can tell already that it will be a huge disappointment as I shall possible burn it. Is is possible to burn cheese?

Halleberry · 07/05/2016 17:42

Yes you can burn cheese GrinGrin lol .... Im a wide and mother .... It's easy to burn the cheese Aswell as the toast. Carrying a puppy for 15 mins? Try carrying a nearly
One year old for an hour Lolol xx our guests are due at 7. My husband die home any minute. Time
To slap on the make
Up and nice jeans and top and serve up the carbonara like
A good wee house wife with none of them (including my
Husband really) knowing that im
Actually going j
Through a secret alcohol torment and my heads not in the right place xxx

laladidah · 07/05/2016 17:52

Oh halle! You will be fine! Although I am actually quite glad that all I have is a puppy to be dependent on me right now.

Everyone loves carbonara, and you have plenty of time to make yourself gorgeous. Although I am sure you are anyway.

I am going for a walk with the puppy (can't compare her to carrying a 1year old, you are right), then going to come home for a cheese burning session. Excellent plan!

Need to somehow buy wine on the way home... Sigh.

Halleberry · 07/05/2016 18:01

Believe it or not I actually haven't bought any wine (shock me) my gut feeling right now is saying "if the hubby or guests don't bejng wine to you then you obviously weren't meant to drink tonight" .... Neither are here yet so im patiently waiting. And the truth is hinestly they don't always bring stuff when they come. Last time my hubby brought home a crate of beer and I had to drive to the shop quickly to get my wine. So we will see what happens when they all arrive. Yep can't go wrong with carbonara and garlic bread with toffee pudding to finish xxx

dementedma · 07/05/2016 18:17

I'm 52.

Halleberry · 07/05/2016 18:22

Nice to meet you demented. How long have you been drinking for xx

Elba84 · 07/05/2016 18:49

Inspired by faire I've made a graph...weekly units (on the weeks I've tracked them, gaps imply I was a bit out of control that week!) per week. Weird but worthwhile excercise as this whole thing is so up and down it doesn't feel like any progress is being made, but the overall trend proves otherwise.

Brave Babes Battle Bus is Racing Along.....
dementedma · 07/05/2016 18:55

I suppose it has increased over the years really. Wasn't a huge drinker when younger, had a few benders at uni but nothing over the top. As I became increasingly frustrated with being married( unhappily) with kids, it became my evening thing. Up to a bottle of wine every night. Found this bus a few years back and am still drinking, but try to moderate. I still drink pretty much every night, but have managed a couple of AF weeks during dry January once or twice. Any AF day is unusual for me, but I no longer drink a bottle a night. Sometimes just a glass, sometimes a couple of glasses. I don't binge drink, or get shitfaced. I drink at home, regularly.

Elba84 · 07/05/2016 19:01

lala I also alternate shops and will drive out my way if I feel I've been in one too often, a couple now 'know' me and will give me my usual brand of cigarettes without me asking, which they probably think is being nice. But to me that means they also know that I drink, and what I drink, so I avoid them if at all possible. I've also been known to buy wine in the mornings after night shifts (when I've not stocked up, usually as I've aimed not to drink) accompanied by chocolates, gift cards and wine carriers so that it looks like I'm buying a present Blush ( done this many many times). Would sound funny if it wasn't so pathetic!

Hold onto your four AF days, ill or not you still didn't drink (I've drank through many bugs even though it was the last thing I felt like). I'm guessing this week will be a difficult one for you so keep posting xxx

halle hope the dinner party is going well.

Halleberry · 07/05/2016 19:42

Wow just sneaked to the loo. Had one glass
Of wine and it's made me
Feel
Physically sick. This is very strange for me as j could down 2/3 bottles in one night and now after one glass I wanted to go and spew it up Confused xx

ClaretAndBlue30 · 07/05/2016 20:12

Busy busy thread today!

lala I do love your posts, you write so well and do make me chuckle. I'll trump your carrying a puppy and halles carrying a nearly 1 year old with a (often tantruming) 18 month old! Guns of steel over here.

halle hope the dinner party is going ok.

I'm 32 as well by the way...had issues with drink pretty much since my first sips aged 15. Never ever have I been able to control it socially. In private I'm a bit better, rarely going over a bottle - but that became a daily habit after having my DD. So since finding this bus I have cut down considerably, doing a whole month dry in January. But I've had my blips along the way.

As for the discussion about buying drink, I hate hate hate the fact I get mine from the same place almost all the time. It's sooo awkward. Especially when I'm pushing a pram...makes me feel dreadful.

Anyway. Still away and moderating. Hoping for a stretch of af days when I get back home.

Hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine!

dementedma · 07/05/2016 21:18

No sunshine here. The downside of living in Scotland. Have had two glasses and that's enough. Going to get an early night I think

obrigada · 07/05/2016 22:07

Early night for me too Ma Smile

laladidah · 07/05/2016 22:39

Just been to a last minute bbq. Lots of prosecco. Had a sausage, my dog was more of a hit than I was. Still hungry... Going to bake the Camembert... Baking suggestions are welcome

Halleberry · 07/05/2016 22:47

Lol
Lala .... Dinner finished and guests away home. I had 2 wines and one koppaberg and brought it all back up. Im now tucked up in bed feeling amazing because I don't feel drunk nor will I wake with a hangover Smile xxx

ruralreynard · 08/05/2016 00:06

Big wave to old friends and new babes. Haven't been here for months but wanted to say that this bus and the people on it set me on the right track. Took me a couple of years but now am nearly six months sober. Love to all xx

Elba84 · 08/05/2016 01:43

Horrible night, far too much to drink. When will I learn it doesn't make me feel good?! Food (and being made to go to the sodding festival) is also a sore point. So far tonight I've engaged in my 'behaviours' three times, doubt there's anything left in my stomach, this is so screwed up. Why is alcohol fine but any trace of food in my body leaves me terrified?!

obrigada · 08/05/2016 08:10

Wow Rural 6 months sober, go you Smile.
Wide awake since 6 this morning, joys of an AF night !!

Halleberry · 08/05/2016 08:28

Are you ok Elba? Do you also have an eating disorder? Sorry to appear nosey, it's just im new and getting to know everyone. Hope you are ok. Well im totally hangover free but back to AF day 1 AGAIN lol. But I plan to Be AF until at least next weekend and if I can make it past the weekend, even better! Im not gonna put to much pressure on myself. I also have a benzo addiction I need to address Aswell. I will do it bit by bit and when im ready. Not when anyone else tells me im ready. I suppose my very ultimate goal for the very long run will be to be AF except for very special occasions, or AF completely. This place is definitely my saving grace. Even being here makes me feel like I want to try harder for AF days or at least if I am drinking I want to have this place in the back of my mind helping me to to watch what im doing. Love to all xx

Halleberry · 08/05/2016 08:29

And WAL well done rural xx so jealous xx

dementedma · 08/05/2016 08:56

rural!!!! Grin good to see you my friend. I often think about you and wonder how you are. 6 months sober is truly truly awesome. Are you still with wankbadger?

Halleberry · 08/05/2016 10:10

Is wankbadger someone in here or a nickname for her boyfriend lolol xx

dementedma · 08/05/2016 10:20

A wankbadger is a generic name on here for a horrible DP. Some of us have them. It generally applies to male DPS as does cocklodger Grin. We tried to come up with a name for the female equivalent and I think it was Beaver Barnacle. We are a class act on this bus.

Halleberry · 08/05/2016 10:22

Grin Grin Grin ha ha x I will need to remember that. Well my husbands Quite a nice guy lol xxx

laladidah · 08/05/2016 10:36

Just giggled quite a lot at your post ma!

Morning all, how are we? halle well done for not getting rat arsed, hope you are enjoying a hangover free sunday morning.

elba, are you ok??? Thinking of you.

claret you win with the tantruming toddler, the most I have to worry about is being licked to death.

Anyone seen will???

Nice day here again, I am trying to summon the energy to get up and get on with my day. I have a date with the massive beast, then a baby shower... Am assuming it will be an AF occasion. This in itself is already putting me off... I am a bad bad person.
