So....can I ask my electrician for his phone number?

Or is there an etiquette which means he's not allowed to do that sort of thing? :)

Goodness me is half of Mumsnet married to an electrician? Grin

BirthdayBetty · 21/04/2016 14:49

place marking.....

Joysmum · 21/04/2016 14:55

I was married to an electrician and he didn't wear a wedding ring either.

FishOn · 21/04/2016 15:16

DH wears his ring - just takes it off if he's doing any high voltage stuff

twocultures · 21/04/2016 15:30

Like many people on here said nothing ventured nothing gained!
Just remember to be prepared for all the outcomes (that he might be in a relationship or uninterested) so you don't get your hopes up too much just because you mustered up the courage to ask!
Good luck!

TrafficJunkie · 21/04/2016 15:31

I'm hoping they send him again :))

I didn't get a chance to really talk I was getting my kids ready for school, and then we left for the school run. He waited for me to come back despite having a key to lock up because he had to tell me something technical about stuff.....I did a bit of flirty eye contact and smiling during the conversation but I don't know to read people so can't tell you if it was reciprocal.

Blodynn · 21/04/2016 22:07

So did you get any signs from him that he was interested? You just know when they are .

TrafficJunkie · 21/04/2016 22:10

Well, he lingered eye contact more than usual when we were talking technical garb. But, he didn't look back at all when he drove off.

TrafficJunkie · 21/04/2016 22:10

Maybe he's just enthusiastic about electrics.

Grin presumably that's just good road safety? And also only something that happens in films?

I am sitting on my hands here at the sheer amount of puns for this situation.

TrafficJunkie · 21/04/2016 23:12

Hahaha.

I am perpetually disappointed that my love life is not a movie 😂

This totally made me smile! And I'm looking forward to the next instalment. I'm in a similar situation but he's a car mechanic (a very good one too). I'm afraid of rocking the boat because if he's not available or interested I don't really want to look for another one! :-) Anyway, I agree with you it seems so easy in writing but just the thought of taking the plunge and asking for a phone number makes me feel very nervous!

TondelayaDellaVentamiglia · 22/04/2016 11:31

oh for goodness sake woman... show the man your fuse box and ask him about his circuit breaker.

QforCucumber · 22/04/2016 11:32

Another 'as long as it's not my dp' (he works for a local council in the north east just so you can rule him out haha) then go for it Smile

And those of you who live with useful electricians, how do you make the. Useful at home? Dp would rather pay a man to come and do most things unless he decides himself that a job needs doing (no we did not need usb charger plug sockets in the front room, or a dimmer lightswitch in the bathroom but we do need more sockets in the garage and our bedroom thanks Envy )

BadDoGooder · 22/04/2016 11:34

A lovely friend of a friend (so a little easier than your situation) came round to fix my boiler 8 years ago, we now have a 4 year old DS! Grin

Tradesmen are excellent to have around the house, I'm never cold or short of hot water

ThisIsTheRightTime · 22/04/2016 11:41

Car mechanics are pretty handy too, right? Grin

DrMorbius · 22/04/2016 11:46

I did a bit of flirty eye contact and smiling during the conversation LOL Smile if he is anything like me, you would have to wave a flag and flash your eyes like a maniac before I picked up on any flirtatious behaviour.
Also I would take your feigned interest, as an interest in the house electrics Smile.

Can't. Deal. With. The. Punning. Opportunities.

(so blatantly placemarking instead, I love a flirt thread)

TrafficJunkie · 22/04/2016 11:59

uh Dr why cant you men pick up on it??

So, I think I will be chatty next time he is here. I will deliberately book the next appointment when they call for during school hours so I'll be alone. Then I'm totally free to chat. If I don't get any "vibes" I'll back off - if I do, then I'll be asking about his circuit breaker. haha.

Righttime I know what you mean - it would be so awkward if he had to come here again and he had refused to give me his number!! There is also a yummy mechanic in my area - according to my friend - she said she's going to try and get his number for me. Reckon that makes me look sad and desperate. But he will only give it out if he is sad and desperate so that's not so bad. haha.

hah Lonny I'm happy to read and laugh at any puns you have to offer. Maybe I can use one in my desperate flirtations. That, would possibly totally ruin my chances but it would be funny.

'I think there was a bit of a surge in my fuse box when you came in'

Actually in my head you're doing this in a baby doll nightie with fluffy mules. I'm making myself laugh so much, thanks OP! (Massive Prince fan so a bit blue today)

TrafficJunkie · 22/04/2016 12:10
