The Brave Babes Battle Bus - Waving Goodbye To Summer Nights, Sipping Mocktails.

Hello, I'm Mouse Welcome to the Bus. :)

Well, it would appear that Autumn is on it's way I have the heating on and can't wait to use the log burner.... shhh! Grin

So, who are we? We're just like you. Married, single, divorced, lots of children or no children, working or a SAHM, it doesn't matter, we all breathe the same air.....

We're just trying to live our lives on the Bus, like you do each day. Well, except for one thing...

I know don't start my day with a swig, or seven, from a litre bottle of vodka (choose your poison) any longer.

And that's what has kept me here, for years now. And no doubt many more to come. Reading the stories of others struggles, wanting to say "I feel like that" or "I do that too!" but being to ashamed to be the first to put your hand up.

Well, let me reassure you here and now, there's not much that we haven't read about on here or done ourselves over the years.

We've laughed at stories of haphazard nights out, we've cried at the loss of loved ones and we've shared the pain that only an alcoholic knows when all that they want is to STOP!

Push the pause button, get off the ride, shut the door, bury yourself under the duvet for days. We've all felt that sickening feeling in our gut that makes us want to curl up and hide forever. And we've shared it all on here.

You see I don't know you and you don't know me, so we're just words on a screen to each other. Eventually, you'll get to know me more and I you, and the other fantastic Babes too, some will stay, some leave us, then some come back.

One thing I can PROMISE - here you are safe, here you won't be judged, turned away (unless you're not genuine) and we even have a huge stock of Opal Fruits but that's all down to Ma.

So, if you think we're you're kind of lovely bunch of people to help you stop drinking, slow down, hold your hand while you decide what to do, then come find a seat!

Trying to get house sorted for sale. Bought lovely new curtains for DDs rooms. Put them up. Looked great. Rail fell straight down Confused

Sunny day here. Take heart babes. Day 4 here. The day when I usually fall on my ass.

babyjane1 · 12/11/2015 14:58

spanna just lost a post basically saying YOU ARE FABULUS!!!!! Xxx

SweetLathyrus · 12/11/2015 17:35

Evening All.

I'm feeling much better today, just a 24 hour thing, thanks Baby and Spanna.

The kitchen is FINALLY, completely signed off and paid for (apart from the small matter of the additional borrowing on the mortgage!); Pup and I have had a couple of lovely walks today, showing off his newly perfected, very impressive recall; and DH and I got to go out to lunch together for the first time in ages. So add that to another AF day - Day three, and I feel quite pleased with the day.

Pop, I have an image of you stepping back to admire your handywork, and the rail falling first from one end, then the other in a small but impressive cloud of dust (I watch too many sitcoms!).

evilpopstar · 12/11/2015 18:17

That's actually exactly what bloody happened! I should have filmed it for You've been Framed! I'm working up to asking the Chap whose relaying the patio to drill me two new holes tomorrow Blush

Well done on all our AF efforts this week. *

SweetLathyrus · 12/11/2015 18:45

Pop, we went through getting all that stuff when we put our house on the market in 2014. Did all those jobs we put off, fixed things we'd lived with, hung curtains where there had never been curtains before! It's a bit galling, but, it was worth it, sold for more than we expected, within two weeks. I don't think I could have coped with keeping tidy for viewings for much longer Grin

You're on day four aren't you? Not long now until you can start day five!

Spanna that is an amazing amount of money, you may not have put it away, but I bet things have just been that little bit easier.

How is everyone else tonight?

Fairenuff · 12/11/2015 19:16

I'm working up to asking the Chap whose relaying the patio to drill me two new holes tomorrow

Why does that sound rude Grin

Welcome to new passengers and long time lurkers. We all have different goals but we have one thing in common - we won't give up trying!

Mouse haven't heard from you a while, you still in your sick bed? Flowers

Has anyone seen this thread yet? It's a book quiz and it's really hard this year. I've got 8/20 and I'm stuck already.

dementedma · 12/11/2015 19:44

faire you beat me to it with the drilling of holes Grin
Ooh i love those book quizzes. I'll take a peek.
Weather is wild here tonight. Lots of roads flooded on way home.
Talk of power cuts when the storm hits so have got the candles out.

Fairenuff · 12/11/2015 19:46

Come back here and help me out ma when you've had a look. I need clues but can't ask on that thread as it might spoil it for others.

dementedma · 12/11/2015 20:04

I can't help you faire. I only got 6! I am totally hopeless

Fairenuff · 12/11/2015 20:09

Ah but between us we could get 14! I've got the ones with numbers on, the cat one, Brooklyn, Lilliput and the hidden one.

But stuck on all the rest...

dementedma · 12/11/2015 20:27

Erm I got the car ferries, Lilliput, one of the numbers one, the platform one, the Paris London one...can't remember what else

Fairenuff · 12/11/2015 20:28

Ooh, give me a clue for the ferries and the Paris London one.

SweetLathyrus · 12/11/2015 20:42

Oh bugger, you two, now I have to look!

SweetLathyrus · 12/11/2015 20:53

Think I got Ypres and south of France, but could be wrong

Fairenuff · 12/11/2015 20:59

Give me a clue for Ypres. I got the South of France one.

NoAprilFool · 12/11/2015 21:02

I couldn't get it work on my phone.

It could be me though. This evening I've made an arse of sewing up a hat I'd knitted, lost a 2 litre bottle of olive oil in my kitchen and put dirty plates in the bin instead of the dishwasher. I'm hoping to be less of a calamity tomorrow!

dementedma · 12/11/2015 21:18

I can't get Ypres but got South of France. Paris and London are two what?
It's not about the car ferries as such, it could be any kind of ships....
I want a clue for the cat one pls and the accident sign

Fairenuff · 12/11/2015 21:20

Think about the cat's name and why there is a poster.

Fairenuff · 12/11/2015 21:22

Got the London Paris one. Doh.

Margie32 · 12/11/2015 21:30

spanna thanks for your message, you sound lovely. Good advice but my husband is a normal drinker and I think he'd feel a bit put out if I started burying all the booze in the garden!

The bus is a great place but I think I got on a bit too late, you are obviously a lot further along than me in your friendships and your relationships with your drinking.

I wish you all the best but I'll be getting off at the next stop.

Fairenuff · 12/11/2015 21:34

Margie we are really not. We are a mixed bunch and sometimes we just while away the time with a bit of chat.

Hang around, do Smile

Is there a drink that you don't like. My dh likes beer and whisky but I would never touch it so if I don't want booze in the house, I ask him to just stick to those.

dementedma · 12/11/2015 21:41

Don't go Margie some of us have been on here ages and so "know" each other a bit more, some of us are new and some just dip in and out.
faire I still can't get the cat one. Lost Lizzie? Missing Lizzie?

Margie32 · 12/11/2015 21:53

I would have a guess at "Elizabeth is Missing".

Good book if you haven't read it.

evilpopstar · 12/11/2015 21:58

Don't go margie. Everyone here means well. It's a difficult medium for trust I think. Everyone has their own shit going on. I'm quite new too and at first I used it to offload and then I found myself getting fond and friendly so it kind of creeps up on you. It helps me keep focussed.

evilpopstar · 12/11/2015 22:00

Great advice from the babes when I first posted was eating sweets s d keeping busy.
