The Brave Babes Battle Bus - Soaking Up The Warm Sunshine, Instead Of The Warm White Wine!

Hi, I'm Mouse :)

Welcome to The Brave Babes Battle Bus.

A place for pouring out your heart without being judged, mostly because a lot of us have been exactly where you are right now, or somewhere similar.

We've been around for a while, so there's not much that we've not seen..... or heard.... or been through ourselves. Sad

Some of the Babes are newer to the Bus, some of the Babes have been here on dear old "Gerald" (The name this Bus was given by one of the Babes, I forget who now!I suspect IsinDe or Silver) for a little while longer!

EVERYONE is welcome here. Drinkers, those who are complete non drinkers, and those who are somewhere in the middle of all of the above. :)

Some Babes are in control of their drinking, some not so much. It's dreadfully hard some days, days when there is nothing going around your head except thinking that you MUST have a drink and you sit there trying to work out when, what time you can have that first mouthful of ice cold poison.

Whatever your goal here, or why you're here, we'll all help you along the way, YOUR WAY.

There will be one of us on here that can relate to your life story as if it were a mirror they were looking at, someone to hold your hand if you want it, catch you if you fall, which you may or may not. Positive thinking, just One Day At A Time.

No one Babe is better than any other, we've all been addicts. We've all suffered, yes some more than others but it's not a competition (and no-one gets turned away) but if you rack up shed loads of sober days, you will be a winner on the thread!! Grin

So, if you want somewhere safe to sit and enjoy the warming summer sun, come find a seat, have a chat or just sit and listen to the rest of us yakking on!! Grin

Nice to meet you :) all.

Also, here is the latest thread -

THE LATEST THREAD WE'VE SHARED OUR STORIES AND EXPERIENCES ON

And this is the very first thread -

AND THIS THREAD, THIS THREAD IS EXTREMELY SPECIAL BECAUSE THIS IS WHERE THE JOURNEY STARTED, AND HAS SINCE EVOLVED OVER THE LAST SIX YEARS

Hope to chat soon, Mousey x

Well done sweet. I still haven't taken the HRT . am looking at it but just still not sure.......
Tech questions. If I am hopeless with IT and can just about manage the basics, will I be able to use a Mac Book? It sounds like a whole different way of working and I may end up chucking it out of the window.....

SweetLathyrus · 21/08/2015 19:15

Thanks, Hermit. Cutting down is a good start, something I could never do - it's all or nothing for me. Keep it up, and good luck with the lesson.

Ma, I find Macs much more intuitive than windows based systems. There are some differences, but they are getting less. You can always go into an Apple store and just play, or they might still do one-to-one sessions if you are buying one. I bounce backwards and forwards between them - sometimes working on my desk pc at the same time as my Macbook. After a day you will wonder what the fuss was about Smile. And you can get the whole Windows Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc) for Mac, which I find slightly simpler than Word on PC (but that may be the version I'm working on?).

dementedma · 21/08/2015 19:48

Thanks sweet. I'm not buying one, but might be given one in work so need to know how to use it.

venusandmars · 21/08/2015 20:24

So ma what is that all about then - the looking at prescribed HRT and not taking it? Are you hoping that it will all just go away on it's own, is it a placebo effect and just having the stuff is making you feel more in control already, is it denial that you are getting older ??

I first learnt computers on a mac (or apple macintosh as they were known then) into the pc environment. But even an old gimmer like me can now switch between the two. You will get over the 'chuck it out the window' feeling. Perhaps you could chuck dh out the window instead Hmm

dementedma · 21/08/2015 20:34

No Venus. I'm apprehensive taking something that is going to screw with my system so much.. I would rather try and get through it if I can, and the flushes do seem to have eased recently. Just not entirely happy with taking it so trying to hold off as long as I can

venusandmars · 21/08/2015 20:36

So, you know that I am usually an oasis of calm....

I am laid back and open hearted, and warm and generous and forgiving...

And I am about to strangle dp.

Unless I arrange things he would not ever see his friends or go out anywhere (that wasn't work related). We had a 20 minute argument tonight while I persuaded him to phone his best mate (who lives 100 miles away and who we didn't see last weekend when we were in the area). Best mate was out and dp didn't even leave a message. ffs - now he will say well I tried to call but he wasn't in.... ffs his friend doesn't know he was trying to call.... He won't call his family, unless I push him to do it. He won't contact his friends, unless I push him to do it. He won't arrange for us to go out anywhere, unless I arrange part if it and demand that he does the rest. Christ's sake - he is intelligent, in a good job, secure, happy functions normally, so why the phone phobia? And why the inertia? I am about to get some of the Edinburgh Festival fireworks and put a rocket up him.

venusandmars · 21/08/2015 20:43

And venus 's dp lights up the sky with all the amazing red and green fireworks shooting out of his arse. ma you should be able to see him in the sky above the Forth - even baby and wry might catch a glimpse Grin

dementedma · 21/08/2015 20:47

Venus!!! I am completely disillusioned with you....how dare you be normal and stressed? You are the queen of serene!

aliasjoey1 · 21/08/2015 22:38

Ffs

Awful holiday, rain

Nearly home now, try to log in, my password has gone kaput and I'm desperate to say hello to wry

Have ended up creating new account. May be slightly pissed. Holiday was dreadful - just as mouse warned me. Torrential rain, grumpy husbands, argumentative children.

Missed you all so much.

venusandmars · 21/08/2015 23:21

alias whatever the weather out there, there are always warms arms here to welcome you back.

There has been a big MUMSNET HACK so everyone has had to reset their password - new account is probably a fine idea.

Holiday concept: the idea of a happy time for everyone to be together, relaxed, and warm. Days out on the beach or in the hills. Kids exploring nature, and parents gently guiding and instructing and reliving their own glorious childhood. Warm evening sunshine with a barbeque (grilled chicken, sweet corn cobs, asparagus). Nights under the stars with the sweet smell of fresh hay.... oh how glorious...

Holiday reality: tired kids snarling at each other, tired parents sending them to bed. NOW! Arachnophobic child screaming. Often. Sheep tick examination every night (pre-pubescent child refusing to show any part of their body). Four year old child refusing to eat anything that is not covered in orange / red ruskoline crumbs (or is smoked salmon). Three hours of darkness (without TV) to entertain the dc... Horizontal rain. Sleet. Hailstones. A flood. Pre-pubescent child starts their period. You too. Husband wonders why he hasn't had much sex on holiday Grin

Morning all, What a kerfuffle - just when I pluck up the courage to rejoinder, it all goes bellly up. Spent the past 2 days trying to reset my password without any success. Resorted to making a new account with my work e-mail. Grrr.

Hi Wasindie (someone remind me how to do bold please) I feel like I know you from lurking - I hope all goes well today, just hang on in there (sorry I'm rubbish at finding the right words).

Wanted to post last night as it's been a rubbish week, car problems= money problems/ grumpy DH. Also sulky DS but no idea why - how do you communicate with a sullen teen?
Really wanted a glass/ bottle of wine last night, but already had this week's bottle, and also knew that I'd drink the whole bottle, so went to bed at 8.30 instead ( record for me)
So glad this morning that I did - problems haven't gone away but I feel able to cope with them.

SweetLathyrus · 22/08/2015 07:44

Morning. SO tired last night, but fresh and rested (ish) this morning, all ready for training class with Pup.

Venus, sounds like he has a big case of . . . being a man Grin. It is super frustrating, especially when you know they are perfectly capable human beings . . . calm, calm, calm etc!

Ma, in the end, they are just computers, a lot of the fuss used to be made by people with PCs who really wanted a Mac but couldn't have one. You're a clever lady, now go take those pills.

Alias, as Venus said, so much pressure is put on us by romantic images of holidays; they must be idyllic, end to end fun, and if teens aren't in a place where they can appreciate the irony of bad weather, or we are feeling extra sensitive and to hormonal to do the 'jollying', . . . bleugh!. Dry yourself down poppet, we can park Gerald somewhere dry, and sing songs round the campfire. Did any one else sing 'Pink Pyjamas' in the Brownies?

Isinde, I will be thinking of you today. I hope today is not too hard.

Anne, I am really impressed with your restraint, it's great to have that clear feeling for the weekend instead on giving it over to post WW fug!

To do bold, you just need to put a * on either side of the word you want in bold, no spaces Smile

Right, I'm just preparing Pup's training treats (chicken and sausage today, they have to be good, otherwise he just runs off and entertains himself), then I will be going to the optician, I am a seriously blind old bat, and the lenses fell out of my everyday glasses months ago.

Have a lovely Saturday, Babes, see you all later.

dementedma · 22/08/2015 08:06

Morning all. Just get through the day indie as best you can.I know it was a difficult relationship so try and find peace in this final act and move on. Will be thinking of you.
joey I forgot you had been on holiday and wondered where you were...good to see you again. wry was back briefly ...she bloddy better not have disappeared again.
Anne good you are still with us and well done on the wine.
Have a good day sweet and small and everyone else....

aliasjoey1 · 22/08/2015 09:30

There was no wifi in the caravan, so I had no idea that Mumsnet had been hacked! And then I missed all the newbies and oldies who suddenly appeared on the Bus. So lovely to see you all!

I hope it goes okay for you today isinde

ma still ogling the soldiers I see? Nothing changed there.

feel like this is my spiritual home

SweetLathyrus · 22/08/2015 09:30

It's a glorious morning. Old hands on the bus will remember my obsessive gardening earlier in the year, here are some of the results that aren't too identifiable, and if you do recognise them, well, you're a babe too!

Just to encourage novice gardeners, most of this is really easy to grow annual seeds, there was nothing here six months ago. It's therapy for me, and I think those 74 days at the beginning of the year when I was sober helped me achieve this.

Morning, Joey, I expect its post holiday washing for you today Sad.

Anything nice planned?

dementedma · 22/08/2015 09:48

sweet that looks lovely.my garden is full of weeds!

SweetLathyrus · 22/08/2015 10:15

Weeds are just plants in the wrong place, Ma. You have enough to worry about, redefine it as a wildlife garden Grin

venusandmars · 22/08/2015 10:21

I've been busy in my garden too Grin (I wish)

SweetLathyrus · 22/08/2015 10:22

Grin Venus, I pictured you as the Zen garden type!

venusandmars · 22/08/2015 10:23

And after all that hard work pruning my bush(es) I've had to have a little lie down in the garden....

Strange, I can't see all the smilies and photos Confused

ma remember the HRT is just replacing some of the estrogen which would normally be in your body anyway. If the dose is right, it should just take away the worst symptoms. I swear by it. Patches are better than pills - they deliver consistent dose without side effects.

dementedma · 22/08/2015 11:29

Venus is that a picture of indie reclining?
