The Brave Babes Battle Bus - Soaking Up The Warm Sunshine, Instead Of The Warm White Wine!

Hi, I'm Mouse :)

Welcome to The Brave Babes Battle Bus.

A place for pouring out your heart without being judged, mostly because a lot of us have been exactly where you are right now, or somewhere similar.

We've been around for a while, so there's not much that we've not seen..... or heard.... or been through ourselves. Sad

Some of the Babes are newer to the Bus, some of the Babes have been here on dear old "Gerald" (The name this Bus was given by one of the Babes, I forget who now!I suspect IsinDe or Silver) for a little while longer!

EVERYONE is welcome here. Drinkers, those who are complete non drinkers, and those who are somewhere in the middle of all of the above. :)

Some Babes are in control of their drinking, some not so much. It's dreadfully hard some days, days when there is nothing going around your head except thinking that you MUST have a drink and you sit there trying to work out when, what time you can have that first mouthful of ice cold poison.

Whatever your goal here, or why you're here, we'll all help you along the way, YOUR WAY.

There will be one of us on here that can relate to your life story as if it were a mirror they were looking at, someone to hold your hand if you want it, catch you if you fall, which you may or may not. Positive thinking, just One Day At A Time.

No one Babe is better than any other, we've all been addicts. We've all suffered, yes some more than others but it's not a competition (and no-one gets turned away) but if you rack up shed loads of sober days, you will be a winner on the thread!! Grin

So, if you want somewhere safe to sit and enjoy the warming summer sun, come find a seat, have a chat or just sit and listen to the rest of us yakking on!! Grin

Nice to meet you :) all.

Also, here is the latest thread -

THE LATEST THREAD WE'VE SHARED OUR STORIES AND EXPERIENCES ON

And this is the very first thread -

AND THIS THREAD, THIS THREAD IS EXTREMELY SPECIAL BECAUSE THIS IS WHERE THE JOURNEY STARTED, AND HAS SINCE EVOLVED OVER THE LAST SIX YEARS

Hope to chat soon, Mousey x

Ok here. If can get to 9pm won't drink. Ok so far. Half bottle of red winking at me from kitchen counter.

Mouseface · 08/09/2015 20:09

Poke it in the eye POP!! You can do this! It's gone 8pm, almost 9pm, then 10pm..... why start now.

Oh I know that 2 glasses out of the bottle would fit in nicely until bedtime but why not see if it'll wink at you tomorrow too? With the same amount in? :)

I have done the new link so that we don't run out of nattering space! Grin

For the newer Babes, we always fill up this thread first and then move over to the nice new shiny one. I hope that is okay, by all means, pop over and mark your place or put it on you watch list, but fill this up first so we don't lose anyone.

Thank you :) Mouse xxx

NEW THREAD FOR WHEN THIS ONE IS FULL!

Sorry, that link looks a little lost in the post so I'm going to post it again on it's whole.

Ah, that's much better, you can see it amongst my waffle! Grin

Hiwyadoin Pop ? Nearly half an hour to go - can you put the kettle on?

evilpopstar · 08/09/2015 20:33

I'm ok. Thanks for support. Having lime n soda. About to nuke / microwave a curry. Early bed.

Glamour - how's it been going babe?

Fairenuff · 08/09/2015 22:06

To answer your question on the other thread pop, yes we do need to fill this one up first. Otherwise, as has happened in the past, a new person has posted and has had no replies unless a lurking babe spots them, so we always fill up the old thread so that no-one gets left behind Smile

venusandmars · 08/09/2015 22:21

Also pop there is a little bit of competition that goes on around this time - the first person to post on the new thread that mouse has set up, and also the lucky person who is last to post on this thread.

Sometime you find that the last few posts on this thread are all from the same poster, and the REALLY important thing is to make many, many links to the new thread. And then ... just when you think you're about to make the final post on the thread, someone swoops in [ isindie I am STARING at you here ] and your wonderful, funny, deep, heartfelt, intelligent, sincere, moving post is met by a MNHQ automated message to tell you the thread is full Angry grrrrr .....

But the purpose of all those links (and filling up the threads) has a real purpose (a bit like everything behind our jokes and joshing). I once found a post on the last page of one of our threads.. posted many months after we had all moved on. The poster had googled something like "desperate, mum, drinking too much" and bizarrely found our old and unfinished thread. The person posted in some anguish - and of course there was no response. How lonely that must have felt! I remember the nervousness and shame with which I made my first post here, if nobody had replied I might have felt like drowning myself in drink.

So there are about 17 chances left to make your mark on this thread... go on, confess, or make a joke. And see you on the other side x

evilpopstar · 08/09/2015 22:30

My five year olds favourite joke is : why is 6 scared of 7? Because 7,8,9.

My favourite joke is : I used to want three kids but now I've got two I only want one Shock.

My feeling is Thank the Lord for you babes and this thread. I have hope. It doesn't come much better than that. I am bored to tears not drinking but being able to pop on here is ace. And I have a feeling that I will push on through to some sort of hard won routine that will involve feeling better about myself and more worthy of my family's love and more able to love them back than I've ever felt before.

Smile
venusandmars · 08/09/2015 22:31

Oh, and because I missed it out in the previous postTHIS IS THE LINK TO THE NEXT THREAD

evilpopstar · 08/09/2015 22:34

I don't know how to do those links Venus!

Sirenetta · 08/09/2015 22:39

Oh popstar very funny you mention 7, 8, 9. This is my DS (age 2.5)'s favourite song ever. We pretty much have to play it on every car journey and he sings along.

venusandmars · 08/09/2015 23:06

pop

What you do is go to the new thread and click and copy the link address (the www. mumsnet.com/... etc thing that is in your bar at the top left of your screen... There is probably a clever trendy way to describe this, but I'm an old gimmer so I'm just describing what I do... Smile

Then you come back to this thread, and you post some gibberish rubbish and then 2 square brackets - these ones [ .... but twice [[

Then (without a space) paste the link.... so it will look like [[http://www...... etc

Then immediately after the link stuff (without a space) you post the end square brackets - like this ]] This will post your link code that people can click on to get to the next thread.

OR... after the end of the link phrase that you have copied, make a space and then type 'any witty phrase that you like'

Follow this with the two end square brackets ]] and press post.

See what happens. Actually these last few post are a good place to practice.

And if you get stuck the mumsnet instructions for all of this are at the bottom of the screen - amazingly in about 50 characters rather than 400 paragraphs... but as I said before, I am an old gimmer Grin

venusandmars · 08/09/2015 23:09

OK pop that bit in the middle of my post sounds like madness, because it has taken out the square brackets [[ and tried to make my sentence into a link.

venusandmars · 08/09/2015 23:14

OK and now that I've distracted you with all that tech stuff here is the link to the next thread.

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/relationships/2464164-The-Brave-Babes-Battle-Bus-Waving-Goodbye-To-Summer-Nights-Sipping-Mocktails?

venusandmars · 08/09/2015 23:18

And if I make the space and type my own words... (here is the new link)

it will look like this...

(here is the new link)

venusandmars · 08/09/2015 23:20

So I did two square brackets [

Then I copied and pasted.

Then I did a space.

Then I did my own message.

Then I did an end square bracket.

venusandmars · 08/09/2015 23:21

And only 8 message spaces left.....

Mouseface · 09/09/2015 00:28

I'm going to bed so with just 8 spaces left, I'll see you all on the other thread now. I'll update you as to where I'm up to with the pain and my back etc.

It'll bore you to tears but I want to share it with you because it's stopping me from drinking myself into oblivion.

Night all xxx
