Hello, tis me, Mouse

Welcome to the Bus. It's a Bus full of drinkers, non-drinkers, occasional slurpers, sneaky sippers, we're all a very different bunch but we ALL have the same thing in common.

Alcohol.

We all have a story or two to tell, we have all been through some terrible times, some more than others and we all have our reasons for drinking or even not. Smile

The one true wonderful thing about this Bus is that we don't do judging!! We're all on a even playing field, no matter what has brought us to this thread.

So, if you'd like to talk, then talk. If you want to lurk and see how we work for a while, that's cool too :)

The Bus is never full, there's always is room for YOU.

And, if you'd like to see what started this off, amost good 5 years ago now, have a look at A TRULY AWESOME HEARTFELT THEAD HERE

And our last thread is just here too for those who would like some more history THIS IS WHERE WE'VE JUST BEEN

Hope to see you soon :) xxx

Ooh these are all great responses, unfortunately I already went with a simple "As already mentioned, I will not be changing my hours" I didn't even apologise! My confidence in standing up for myself is growing (thanks to you guys!)

isinde if only there was someone like you on lookings side - I can imagine you going in all guns blazing. But how are you doing - how are the weans?

I still have my Broons annuals Isinde. I used to colour them in.

dementedma · 07/05/2015 20:03

I remember the Broons and Oor Wullie!....
Ds is still called "the wee man" in our house even though he's already taller than I am.
Urgh, biopsy tomorrow...... Can we have a communal leg cross please?

HandsThatDoDishes · 07/05/2015 22:07

The DC's have some "Oor Wullie"annuals! They used to love them. Isinde I prefer Option C out of your imaginary letters to Alias's boss! Hope we're all fine thanks. DS and gf have put it all behind them and seem to be carrying on like nothing's happened. I think I've found the situation far more upsetting than them. I'm hoping to get some gardening done at the weekend. Although as I'm now a fully fledged member of the sloth club I may do sod all instead! I did go and vote earlier - fingers crossed for a good outcome tomorrow.

Ma good luck for the biopsy. This time tomorrow it will all be over Smile xx

Night night babes xx

SweetLathyrus · 07/05/2015 22:30

Watching the C4 coverage Shock at the exit poll.

lookingforhope · 08/05/2015 00:33

Good luck tomorrow Ma.

Joey well done for sticking up to your boss

Well, watching the election, and it hasn't driven me to drink, amazingly, so looks like I'm done with Day 4.

Really depressed by the exit polls Sad

Scottish babes ... Can I come and live with you from tomorrow please?

lookingforhope · 08/05/2015 00:51

Shit! OH just phoned - was on way out to report on election count and someone crashed into him, writing off the car! Bollocks.

SweetLathyrus · 08/05/2015 07:55

Morning, Hope, I know he's a WB, but was he ok?

Voted strategically for the first time in my life and still didnt get the MP I wanted :(

HandsThatDoDishes · 08/05/2015 07:56

Watching election coverage. I'm about to burst into tears Sad Youngest DD has sickness bug and has been up all night. I'm absolutely shattered.

Hope bloody hell is OH ok? What a crap night. I'm massively impressed that you're still managing to stay AF xxxx

dementedma · 08/05/2015 08:05

I hope everything goes okay today ma

SmallFox · 08/05/2015 10:36

Just to say good luck, Ma.

Right, I am going to bed for the next five years.

guggenheim · 08/05/2015 11:17

Tut. Sigh. bloody tories...

Right enough of the sodding political situation,I'd much rather have you lot in charge. The bus has moved really fast so I'm just waving at all and sundry.

fairie you are spot on with the naming and putting into perspective Smile and I have stolen the idea from school, which shows my intellectual level. How are you lovely? Looking forward to end of term?

I've had 6/7 af nights- hooray! I had 1 glass of wine last night and that's it for this week. I'm happy with that.

ma hope it's all over and done with now and you are drinking a large cuppa with a big chocolate hobnob for being brave.

smallfox 5 years? No wonder you haven't appeared on the thread this am!

Go joey,go joey whooooooo! realises that there are not many bus members who remember the Trisha dance thingy

I will not be drinking today.(sobbing at election results, possibly)

guggenheim · 08/05/2015 11:28

Actually,I do have something positive to say about the election: I've just looked at the list of parties and the Monster Raving Loonies still exist- hooray! They got 3500 votes Smile

Cheered me up a bit.

aliasjoey · 08/05/2015 12:21

I have been asked by xxx to get clearance from Occupational Health regarding your proposed change of hours. I am personally unsure what this entails. But will pursue next week. At the moment until the new person joins, your flexibility in accommodating the desk cover is appreciated. But from next month when the new person joins the team, it will be useful to have the much needed professional cover to the site until 5pm

FFS he just won't let it drop. Sometimes I think it would be easier just to go with the flow, after all I'm lucky to have a job at all.

Should I reply "I will be contacting Occupational Health myself regarding the continued harrassment over this" no, too aggressive

I suppose OHs job is to look at ways of improving my health so that I can do the hours THEY want. So they will try and persuade me to do it.

Khalisi · 08/05/2015 12:42

Hey Babes,
Flowers for those sad about the election outcome.
Politics. Always good for a surprise.

Isinde sometimes I think poorer people vote for wealthy parties because they hope their lives will get improved so that they can live better.
Then they get screwed over but still do the same again!

ma Hope it went well today? [chocolate chip cookies/pralines] for you.

alias sorry about the hours saga. Maybe one of Isinde's emails will do the trick? Don't let him push you into doing this. You know it isn't good for you which means fighting just a little more. Flowers

Hope my lovely, Of course I don't want the father of your children offed, so I do hope he is ok. But really sorry about your car! You don't need more shit on your plate. Flowers

Well, managed the run yesterday which was a challenge but not too hard.
Can't bloody wait for the weekend.
I will attempt to be AF, and hope to manage today.

Its just been such a looong week!

dementedma · 08/05/2015 13:45

still no success. They cant get the probe far enough in (no comments from you lot) to get the sample they want from the womb. It also took 5 attempts to get blood. I now have to see the consultant on the 25th to see if she can do it - what is she going to use, an industrial drill???
More weeks of worry...am fed up!

Ooh, I would like to go to Lark Lane Isinde. Grew up in Merseyside and had friends at Liverpool Uni so have some good memories ...

Thanks for all the good wishes. OH is fine apart from a bang on the head. Of course he is still a massive wanker (pre-dates bang on the head so can't claim for that) but I would not wish actual bodily harm on the father of my children, I am not a monster (well, not usually) so that is a relief. Car is a write off but luckily it was his old car and not my lovely new (second hand but new) car, and the insurance is going to get him a hire car while they sort things out. It was the other guy's fault (white van man speeding) so it's not as bad as it could have been. His car would never have passed it's next MOT this summer anyway so may be a blessing in disguise.

Ma how awful for you. I am overdue a smear but being too weedy to go so I sympathise Flowers Hope it goes well next time.

Joey are you in a union? Your boss sounds like he is harassing you by deliberately avoiding the word no. I am no expert on employment law (sadly, given my situation) but if they refuse to accommodate flexible working I think the onus is on them to provide a response in writing as to why they can't do that. And as you have already been doing the hours that suit you to good effect then how can they justify it?

If you have a union rep say you want them to come to any meetings to discuss the matter with your boss and Occupational Health. I have refused to speak to our HR Director or Director of Comms without our union rep, so as a result they don't want to talk to me. Which suits me fine

Though given the election results I am soon to be out of a job anyway. We have nowhere to appeal to now, they are all in the same club. But not going to think about it as fed up enough already...

Went to doctor's today and got more ADs. Also got her to agree to sign me off with stress whenever I want, I just have to email her if it gets a bit much. So even if I don't use it, knowing the escape route is there is a comfort (a bit).

What are we all up to this evening? Crappy TV for me! Hope you all have a good weekend planned. Mine is busy - been roped into doing craft stall at local fair plus kids both have sports stuff and picked up some freelance work which I need to do by Monday. As a member of sloth club, I am slightly nervous of sudden upswing in activity but hey, it will stop me drinking (teeny bit proud I got through last night).

Day 5 here - though not sure if I will give in tonight. However off to make dinner now and then take dd to gymnastics.

Have a good Friday evening all of you xxx

guggenheim · 08/05/2015 18:16

looking day 5 is goood!

Had to tell the WW to fuck off a little while ago but not going to drink tonight mother is visiting tomorrow so may be a different story then

I want to do something constructive tonight but suspet that it will be Pj's,shower, crap tv & an early night. rock'n'roll.

anotheraliasname · 08/05/2015 18:18

ma they couldn't get it up ?! Well what on earth do they need, a ladder? Still, presumably, they can't be too concerned if they've put it off til the 25th?

looking good to hear you have a supportive GP and an escape route!

dementedma · 08/05/2015 18:34

I used to live just off Lark Lane indie when I was a student. Drinking in The Albert and The Masonic, hanging out in Sefton Park....ooh, happy days!
