The Brave Babes Battle Bus - Starting the New Year in Fine Style

Hello, I'm Venus, and standing in for Mouse (who usually starts all our threads)

This is a safe and welcoming place for anyone who is facing up to a problem with alcohol. It may be something you’ve known for years, or it may be that struggling with dry January has made you re-think your relationship with drink.
Anyway, welcome old and new, lurkers and posters. It can be a weird thread at times – travelling on a bus called Gerald.... he takes us up and down and this wondrous land, searching high and low for Babes in need of some support, a warm place to sit and chat, and to have someone to listen to them.

So, grab a seat as we swing by your way. There's lots of hot drinks, food and fleeces, places to just be and places to sit around and chat if that's what you want.

We don't judge, because we've all been in your shoes, be they stilettos, wellies or crocs!...

We're just us, we're just honest and we just do what we can to help, if we can, when we can. If you find all the banter off-putting just jump in with a cry for help.

And HAPPY NEW YEAR xxx

Here is the very first, emotional thread if you would like to see where this all started

Our most recent thread, if you want to catch up

Good morning, Babes!

OMG Hope, you have me in stitches!! So early in the morning! Grin Grin Grin
may I just say I LOVE the Irresistible Khalisi! You're in my head, babes! Cause in my head, that's me!
And Ma! I'm wondering what Queen would say?! Grin

Oh Mouse! How much shit can one take?! Flowers

I had a lovely night out to see a dance performance last night. Made me realise I need to do more in the week. Instead of just work/sleep.

Ma, I don't think I have much of a choice about the whole. The other guy would not be able to do it as I have a Tudor's style house and that needs a specialist.
However, feeling much calmer today.

And I got seriously checked out last night! What the hell is happening?! I know for a fact that I'm not sending Irresistible Khalisi vibes out (since I just want to crawl into bed and sleep!).
Well, maybe....

Soc Congratulations, babes! What are you getting yourself as a 'push present'?! You pushed through, you know. So push present totally deserved!

Khalisi · 11/02/2015 08:30

x-posted, Sweet.
I am so happy that you are on ADs without drinking! So proud of you.

It will get better. I think its one of those things when its gets really quiet, the storm hits you.
You are AF, listening to your doc, and you have your fabulous DS and us of course. We'll see this through.
We got your back, babes. Flowers

obrigada · 11/02/2015 09:14

Morning babes nothing exciting or adventurous to report in Obrigada world, just another day Hmm

dementedma · 11/02/2015 09:25

hope go for the interview for the other job. Tell them you are available as soon as. Stuff the other job as they are buggering you about now.
Love norktastic me - wish I really looked like that. only two AF days for me so far this month which is shit and missing someone is not a good enough reason! note to self to get a grip!
obrigada nothing adventurous here either. Got up, came to work, should be working now.....

SweetLathyrus · 11/02/2015 09:55

Buggering computer just crashed and can't remember what I typed, or even what I wanted to type Sad . . .

SweetLathyrus · 11/02/2015 10:35

I remember.

I was going to say, Obrigada, I often tell my DS that ordinary days are ok, they help us appreciate the extraordinary.

Ma is there any extra help the bus could offer to get that AF tally up for the month? Don't forget that even with the weight loss, the booze will given you bloat - you want to look a vision in fabulous purple Grin

I have just eaten a banana to make My Fitness Pal shut up Confused, I am getting into a very warped relationship with this app!!

lookingforhope · 11/02/2015 11:19

Sweet, you can borrow some of my MFP entries, I have too many. Bacon buttie this morning and now off for lunch Blush

SweetLathyrus · 11/02/2015 11:33

Hope make it a vegetarian lunch and I will Grin - Enjoy it on my behalf whatever it is!

Mouseface · 11/02/2015 11:34

Rubyredlips · 11/02/2015 17:48

Hi all

Where did everyone go? Am I missing something?

SweetLathyrus · 11/02/2015 17:50

I was just going to post the same thing, Ruby

SweetLathyrus · 11/02/2015 18:03

I hope they haven't all been kidnapped by the WW !

SweetLathyrus · 11/02/2015 18:55

Oh no, now Ruby's. gone too! This is getting spooky.

dementedma · 11/02/2015 19:02

I'm here! Well, the new purple dress arrived. Its a whole size smaller and I can get into it. Result!
It adds on the half stone I've lost and then some! Sad
Fuck!!!!!!!
Its made of jersey stuff so mega comfy but higher at the neckline than I thought so no norkage, and then it just hangs all wafty from under the boobs.makes me looks huge. Help!

SweetLathyrus · 11/02/2015 19:06

Ooh Ma, getting into it is great, but the style doesn't sound right. As the possessor of a fairly serious cleavage myself, I avoid high necklines like the plague. Can you send it back? Do you have time to proper shop for another?

Khalisi · 11/02/2015 19:24

So sorry, ma! I've been looking forward to hearing about it!!!
FUCK!!!
Plan B?!

dementedma · 11/02/2015 19:33

I could send it back but I don't have anything else. I mean, its comfy which is great but it's just not.....sexy! I dont want to be mutton dressed as lamb but equally, I dont want to covered neck to foot in a tent. Its basically a jersey maxi dress. My only hope is a lucky find in a charity shop. I darent go back to trying to buy another one online after spending money on this one..

spanna41 · 11/02/2015 19:34

Day 3 today Smile

Sweet thank you for satisfying my morbid fascination with the money saved same as you I would usually buy £6-£10 bottles, usually fizz Blush and neck it as quickly as possible Huge well done on your AF Days Flowers

Ma our scrumptious Norkess cannot go to the Ball without some Nork on show Grin Keep on looking lovely Smile

Mouse hope your day's been better xxx

Soc 9 months is AWESOME that is some achievement Babe Flowers

Hope you made me laugh so much. You've just got to get through the next 2 months. Keep on keeping on and breathe, can't believe how they're treating you Shock will do no harm in going for the interview, things pop up for a reason. Take care lovely one Smile

Seriously, I have thought about a drink (drinking loads) quite alot today it's my day off and I'm off tomorrow DD1 (15, 16 in May) Academic Review Day translated to Parents Evening but they don't do that anymore they shut the school, of course they do Hmm I'm looking forward to spending the day with DD1, school at 11 (having taken DD2 to school), her haircut (shaved as she's got an undercut, bless her) and then lunch and then back to pick up DD2 from school. Off next week, as it's half term down south, going up to c me cousin in Manchester, can't wait to get our DC together again Smile

Hi Ruby hope you've had a good day Smile

Might have to keep posting, I've put me PJs on already so that I can't make an easy dash to the shop Hmm Day 3-7 I find really tricky dicky Confused
Have a lovely evening y'all xxx

dementedma · 11/02/2015 19:45

Dd2 has just rubbed salt in the wound by sending me a PIC of the dress she is wearing to the dinner. ( her bf is attending with his company so she gets to come s his plus 1, jammy cow!)
Red dress. Strapless.Fitted. Fishtail. Size 10. I want to cry....

SweetLathyrus · 11/02/2015 19:49

Spanna don't let yourself get hungry or thirsty. DS school has review day AND parents evening, but review day is much more about them taking responsibility for their own learning - with a parental witness!

Ma hire shop? Anyone you know you could do a swap with?

SweetLathyrus · 11/02/2015 19:50

[jealous]

dementedma · 11/02/2015 19:52

Any babes out there with a drop dead gorgeous dress in a uk size 14 I can borrow?

SweetLathyrus · 11/02/2015 21:17

I have 2 in a Monsoon size 12?

Khalisi · 11/02/2015 21:19

ma, would love to help but am positive I don't have the drop dead gorgeous you need! Wink
If push comes to shove I can send you my emergency dresses!

I just barely in the nick of time arrived at my running point meeting place today! Another accident and I was actually crying thinking how much I really need a run. Especially since the weather was so great.

Hi Sweet How are you, babes?

I'm sorry not to nc but I'm done and am actually falling asleep already.

Good night, babes!

SweetLathyrus · 11/02/2015 21:21

I'm ok thanks, Khalisi, I have some work stuff to process, but it's good, progress. An accident? I hope you're ok? Sleep well.
