Hello, I'm Venus, and standing in for Mouse (who usually starts all our threads)

This is a safe and welcoming place for anyone who is facing up to a problem with alcohol. It may be something you’ve known for years, or it may be that struggling with dry January has made you re-think your relationship with drink.
Anyway, welcome old and new, lurkers and posters. It can be a weird thread at times – travelling on a bus called Gerald.... he takes us up and down and this wondrous land, searching high and low for Babes in need of some support, a warm place to sit and chat, and to have someone to listen to them.

So, grab a seat as we swing by your way. There's lots of hot drinks, food and fleeces, places to just be and places to sit around and chat if that's what you want.

We don't judge, because we've all been in your shoes, be they stilettos, wellies or crocs!...

We're just us, we're just honest and we just do what we can to help, if we can, when we can. If you find all the banter off-putting just jump in with a cry for help.

Hello spanna you lovely thing you! How are you sweetpea? I had a gentle bimble this morning, squidged in a tiny canter but generally took it fairly easy. Cried a bit, but felt better for it.

My friend's dogs provided a much needed hairy hug. Their oldie wouldn't leave my side, just kept looking up at me with her wise old eyes and resting her chin on my knee.

My pruning has also fallen by the wayside. I suspect I was hairier than my steed this morning. In fact a good hunter clip would probably be my salvation....

Wry glad you got your canter in trying to type in the dark Have no curtains on my windows and I've unintentionally been basking in moonlight (waking up with it on me) since the full moon. There's been some lovely low tides and they're just right at 'baby deer' walking time first thing, sea salt in the nose, lovely! So sidecar for us 3 then, I haven't stopped drinking little shots of frozen vanilla vodka need to stop as I have work tomorrow. Typing is hard work. Hugs xxx

Morning, lovely babes. Hope everyone feels bright and perky soon. I'm ill (some weirdass virus or something) so I have a day off work to lie in bed and try and sleep it off, and lovely PIL are here to care for the children as usual. I also have the comfort of knowing how much worse I'd be feeling if I also had a hangover. Two and a half weeks sober now, and it seems to be starting to feel a lot easier. Am proud, and thankful.

All is not well in the Sweet house. DPs, (DF in particular) behaved terribly at dinner last night; got home - DS had not put together ingredients for Food Tech this morning - and proceeded to shout at me about it - largely because he hadn't bothered to take notice in last week's demonstration, so didn't know what size dish he needed; DH then decided to storm off to bed without saying good night to anyone, because they were all treating me badly ( ) which upset me more. On top of which I have headache and nausea from the ADs.

I have called in sick this morning - after refusing to let the DR sign me off . Actually talking to him last week seems to have whipped away the last of my defenses.

I have a day off today. And I didn't get bladdered last night. Quite proud, but will concentrate on some home cooking today to keep me busy and out of mischief. Also have a great big pile of ironing to do, but determined to do it today.

Thanks, Wry, DPs will be leaving at lunch time; after that, I won't see them until the end of May when I go over to visit them. DM just proudly told me that she had bought a bottle of Southern Comfort for when I'm next over. Good Grief! I haven't drunk Southern Comfort since I was 19!

Once they have gone, I will heave a huge sigh of relief and tuck myself into my big cosy chair with a book. Or I might try and find a sponge pudding recipe and say "Fuck you" to My Fitness PAL!
