The Brave Babes Battle Bus - Driving Through A Sober Winter Wonderland.

Hello, I'm Mouse Xmas Smile

Welcome to the Bus, he's called Gerald.... he takes us up and down and this wondrous land, searching high and low for Babes in need of some support, a warm place to sit and chat, and to have someone to listen to them.

So, grab a seat as we swing by your way. There's lots of hot drinks, food and fleeces, places to just be and places to sit around and chat if that's what you want.

We don't judge, because we've all be in your shoes, be they stilettos, wellies or crocs!...

We're just us, we're just honest and we just do what we can to help, if we can, when we can. Let's try and have a Merry Christmas without getting off our faces this year. Xmas Smile

Here is the very first, emotional thread if you would like to see where this all started

And the last thread if you want to keep up!

Baby sounds like a brilliant day - it was too wet to go anywhere here.

*Beaches, I felt exactly the same about getting the tree down today. Normally it would take me days, in between bottles of wine, today got every last bauble up in the attic by lunch time.

Spent the evening watching Guardians of the Galaxy with the family - DM is beginning to despair of our taste in films - yesterday it was A Million Ways to Die in the West. I know as soon as she gets home she will immerse herself in the Downton and Call the Midwife Xmas specials!

Now, too early for bed, what (AF) drink shall I have next?

dementedma · 03/01/2015 21:38

I'm in bed with yet another cup of bloody tea.
Day 3 done. I should feel proud as I cant remember the last time I nailed 3 days but I just feel wretched. Why?

SweetLathyrus · 03/01/2015 21:43

Evening Obrigada, give the thinking a rest and type!

Ma 3 days is a brilliant achievement, I hope 4 will bring that home more fully.

TheJingleMumsRush · 03/01/2015 21:44

In bed now, :) hoping for a good day tomorrow

TheJingleMumsRush · 03/01/2015 21:45

Need to get with the lingo, just realised what AF means

SweetLathyrus · 03/01/2015 21:47

Hope all the sleepy Babes will get the benefit of deep AF sleep.

aliasjoey · 03/01/2015 22:09

Well done ma - it WILL get easier

Day 1. DH said he would join me for Dry January, and then poured himself a gin and tonic. Bastard. Grin

obrigada · 03/01/2015 22:18

Day 3 done and dusted. Bath and bed for me now. Night babes x

SoberSocFish · 03/01/2015 22:26

ma it's totally awful and hard in the beginning. I didn't really want to give up. God I loved my wine. But I promise it gets easier and slowly but surely you get better and stronger. And then you realise you don't need or want to put that poison in your body. It fucks with you completely. Your posts sound like they are being written by WW. You need to sober up and fix your life up. And you can do it. Xx

aliasjoey · 03/01/2015 22:41

Don't want to go to bed, last day of hols tomorrow Sad

2 different pictures of red wine keep popping up on mumsnet

TheKhalisirules · 03/01/2015 22:42

You go, baby! Thank you for a huge smile. I love going to the playground with any little ones I babysit so I totally came alive 'seeing' you and the girls and it makes me happy! Even more so because I really did not feel like leaving the house today.

But - to save myself from the hours between 5 and 8pm when the WW yells loudest, I made blueberry pancakes and took them to my poorly neighbour and she was so very happy about it, it was totally worth not drinking tonight!
(Even if I did have to pray before eating and hear about the wonders of the Lord).

Welcome obrigada (and any other new babe I missed)!

Goodnight, babes...
Sweet dreams Wink

TheKhalisirules · 03/01/2015 22:44

alias report them! [harassed, sad looking, alcohol-withdraw-licky face]

aliasjoey · 03/01/2015 22:47

Hey, should I start watching GoT without DH as revenge for him already giving up on Dry January? Grin

TheJingleMumsRush · 04/01/2015 07:07

Horrendous dream last night about my baby DS, woke sobbing Sad

SweetLathyrus · 04/01/2015 07:19

Morning Jingle. I hate those dreams that don't quite leave when we wake up. I find my brain goes into over drive for the first few days. Hope your feeling better now.

SweetLathyrus · 04/01/2015 07:22

Joey, definitely, most of the sex and nudity is in the first season Grin, after that it settles into intrigue and violence!

TheJingleMumsRush · 04/01/2015 07:42

Thanks sweet, I was awake for ages after, mind going into overdrive about the possible damage I may have caused myself drinking, the years I've probably taken off my like and the less time I'll have with DS. My own mother died at 51 from drink, my dad is an alcoholic but hasn't touched a drop in 20 years.

TheJingleMumsRush · 04/01/2015 07:45

What's WW please?

SweetLathyrus · 04/01/2015 08:05

That's really tough Jingle, but the body will repair itself, and seeing and understanding the potential consequences of not stopping is a good starting point.

WW is the Wine Witch (aka Old Saggy Tits) - she is that voice that whispers "Go on, just the one. It'll take the edge off. You deserve it." or what ever your personal reasons are. By personifying those cravings/voices it can be easier to react and resist, and to show WW the door.

TheJingleMumsRush · 04/01/2015 08:07

Ooh I like that, showing her the door :)

obrigada · 04/01/2015 08:16

Morning babes. Not the best nights sleep but thankfully not a restless one, more a half awake half asleep one if that makes sense?

SweetLathyrus · 04/01/2015 08:28

Morning Obrigada. Yep, had a couple of those myself Smile

SweetLathyrus · 04/01/2015 09:10

Oh dear, sore eyes, headache and sniffles. Please don't let this be a cold - I have loads of work I ignored because I was too busy drinking and I need to get on Sad

dementedma · 04/01/2015 09:15

Morning all. Day 4.
Got to take the tree down, visit dad, pick up dd2 from airport, go for a walk, make dinner, iron school uniform for DS.
That should keep me busy.
Crap nights sleep here too.
