How old were you when you got married?

I was 21, nearly 22. Am 30 now and been married for 8 years, mostly happily

Chatting about it at work, and I looked at the single 22/23 year olds and thought, christ I was married at that age, and how young they seem.

They all say I was far to young to be married. I've never even thought about it like that tbh.

How about you?

I was 19, almost 20. Had DS1 a couple of days short of my 23rd birthday and I friend made me laugh recently when she was fretting about leaving her 24 year old daughter while she went on holiday. The daughter had to take delivery of a new fridge and the mother wasn't sure if she would manage!

I was 29. I would have liked to have got married 2-3 years earlier and got started on the children sooner, but dh is younger than me and so wanted to wait a bit. It is a not a huge regret that it didn't happen earlier. I had fun in my 20s and was able to forge a good career which sustained me (mentally) when I first gave up work to be a SAHM. (Gone on too long now though!)

26... it'll be 10 years next year! Dh is a year younger than I am. Most people thought we were a bit young, I was the first of all my close friends and I know lots of people our age who only got married in the last couple years.

Hi have just joined, this is my first posting. Brilliant site, v easy to get addicted! Anyway, met when I was 17, engaged at 19, got married when I was 21, D(at the time)H was 22, lasted nearly 16 years, thought we were v happy til I had the shock of being traded in for a 52 year old at the beginning of this year. And the comment I hear most often re the fact we were young is, "Perhaps he should have sown a few more wild oats in his 20s instead of settling down...". Ain't hindsight a wonderful thing?
