How old were you when you got married?

I was 21, nearly 22. Am 30 now and been married for 8 years, mostly happily

Chatting about it at work, and I looked at the single 22/23 year olds and thought, christ I was married at that age, and how young they seem.

They all say I was far to young to be married. I've never even thought about it like that tbh.

How about you?

I was 29, he was 35

We met when I was 25, got engaged on my 26th birthday. I was sulking because he hadn't bought me a card or present, but apparently he had been planning to ask me for a while but in amongst all the planning he forgot to buy me a birthday card .

We have now been married 3 years. DD was born three days before our first wedding anniversary. We've been together for 7 years.

I was 25 when I got married.
Met dh when I was 17, had dd1 at 20 got married at 25. Now have dd2 as well.

I find myself looking at people I work with who are my age or slightly younger and single and thinking, I was a mother at your age, or I was married at your age. makes me feel old sometimes.

Thombat, I used to feel that I wasn't grown up enough to be married (like it was something Proper Adults like my aunts and uncles did and I was far too young). Surprised myself by deciding I did want to be married to dh - we were living together, had a joint mortgage, wanted to be with him forever and, I dunno, it just came as a blinding flash of revelation that I wanted to make a big public statement of love, belonging and committment. Very romantic wedding, fab party, (mainly) happy marriage. Still feels very odd when I have a reason to say 'my husband' though, so respectable and grown-up, not me at all.

20 - a week b4 my 21st. For me it was too young. I wasn't ready at all. h was 31, i was 7wks pg. went back to college next day! had 21st party at college with my mates not my h!

I lasted with it 16 years, 15 really but took another year to actually walk out of door. really sad it came to that but just can't be married to a 50 year old when i'm 39 (little bit more to it than that - am not actually that shallow!)
