Looking at the comments at the bottom, most think that most men pay. Is this more true than we like to admit?

While I wouldn't necessarily place much importance to DM comments, 1 in 9 seems a low figure.
In my very limited sample of former uni and work colleagues, extended family, pub friends etc, I would say it's more like 25-30%.
Some seem even proud about their drinking/whoring adventures in Amsterdam, Prague, Bangkok or Rio, I've come to see all men holidays in these places as nothing more than sexcapades.

There are a lot of lonely/curious men out there, I mean, if they've admitted to it then It's likely it's true, but statistics can be skewed to reveal a certain answer, and it IS the Daily Mail lol. I know two men who have (both in Amsterdam) and my OH was completely disgusted when he heard them say it (I could tell it was genuine disgust as we were there at the same time they told us)

The comments did make me giggle though...

Its the way things change. When I was in my 20s (1970s) paying for a fuck was the mark of a total loser. Wouldn't believe anything in the D Mail tho.

It does make you wonder why people go to Amsterdam and Prague etc for it when there are plenty of prostitutes here.

It's in line with previous figures of around 10%.

I think it is part of not doing it on your own doorstep, plus it makes them think it isn't that bad, as it was on 'holiday' and what goes on in X stays in X if they are on a stag do.

I also remember when it was not socially acceptable. I wonder if cheap travel has encouraged this as men think partners/other circles of friends it may matter to simply won't find out?

avoiretre- according to my friends who went to Amsterdam it was "cleaner" haha if there is such a thing. I.E insisted on washing in the room in front of the lady (she helped one of them wash?? lol), washing afterwards, room was "nice", lady was "polite"... apparently!

Strange business if you ask me lol

Sex has gotta be a turn off when you have to say "wash first, pay first"

Might try it with my OH. "shower first, put washing on, make my tea, then we do the business"

Not at all - I just don't like the way it is trying to justify something that has serious consequences by going back to the 'poor man' argument. If that is a 'joke' then no, I don't get the humour, sorry.

That's OK. The Humor isn't for everyone. I however took it with a pinch of salt and had a good giggle. We're all different :)

I linked to the wrong comments earlier - the Indie story popped up on my fb and the comments on there were horrid - so possibly I was feeling a little touchy after reading the 100th comment of "We all pay for sex one way or another" " If you saw most of the UK wives you'd pay too" and "They love it, women should pay us!"

I think the key word here is 'admitted'. The reality is probably far more....

Like they say most statistics people randomly come with are rubbish.

Few men who post obnoxious comments on newspaper websites actually know any women. I know this from personal experience.
